The second remark, however, earns a raised eyebrow.
"You mean Melinoë?" He can't think of anyone else it would be. "I imagine she must be enjoying herself right now."
He does like her to a degree, yes... But in the way one might be fond of a particularly lovely blossom in a garden. No one in this world has yet reached the point of being truly valued as an individual by Merlin.
That, and any feelings he might have are conflated with that of an incubus--a predator's interest in its prey. Especially right now, with those long suppressed powers suddenly active again.
