That would explain the teeth. [The features hadn't eluded his observation. Certain creatures did possess teeth-like appendages along with beaks but the blurrg's were significantly more pronounced and not worn down like a strict herbivores.] ...
[She still intended for him to ... feed it? This was the point where he should have flatly refused, but between her and the creature snuffling about he just... went with it. With a discerning look at the nearest stand, he selected a skewer with a variety of substances on it ranging from meat to vegetables] You don't give it the stick do you...? [Theoretically the stick would be a choking hazard, or wouldn't digest well... not that digestion proper had been an issue here, so why was he asking? Once he got her response, he'd hold it out for the animal. Seto Kaiba didn't tend to hesitate often, but it was clear that pet care was not something he had engaged in before.]

[ that said, the blurrgobo approaches and gives the stick more than a few sniffs to check its smell. then its beak opens and it immediately chomps on the top half of the skewer. or rather, it chomps off the top half, breaking the wood and gorging on the contents with slow and delighted chews. ]

I'd prefer to keep my fingers intact.
[ There would be no plucking the individual ingredients off one by one. That being said he moved his fingers to the furthest end of the skewer so the creature could easily take the rest when it was ready.]
How long did it take for you to tame it?
no subject
The approximation of a few days? [ time is such an odd concept here still, but it feels like it took that amount. ] They're good and loyal, as long as you're patient in gaining their trust.
[ she crosses her arms, gives him a look over with her eyes, then asks- ] You're thinking about it, aren't you?

Fair. [Though time was more quantifiable now with the water-based clocks, it was still difficult to put much stock in them. Time had been so elusive before.] ... [As she spoke, Kaiba studied the blurrgobo and it's peculiar attributes and features. It wouldn't be winning any beauty contests anytime soon. That patience thing could be an issue.]
[Sensing her eyes on him, he looked back to her wondering what that expression meant. He didn't have long to wait.] Thinking about what? [Retracting his arms and folding them across his chest in a guarded stance.]

[ raised up in an order where you were assessed on your skills every day meant getting plenty of judging looks on the daily. the look kaiba gives the blurrgobo isn't unlike those looks, for better or worse. ]
If it helps, blurrgs have been used in military operations on planets they are native to. They're a lot faster than they look, especially when you're low on other options.
no subject
I'm not currently planning any military operations. [Seizing on the irony that Kaiba corp used to produce weaponry, not that Ahsoka knew that]
... but as the terrain expands- there might be a purpose for one. Unless vehicles suddenly appear.
no subject
[ she says jokingly with a friendly smile. boy, she sure does hate getting involved in civil wars! that... has happened more than once in her life for comfort. ]
...
[ her turn to make a light cough. ]
Anyway, blurrgs are a good vehicle substitute if you need one. But you do make a good point about void expansion. Feels like more and more gets added at the blink of an eye. The world is fuller than it was when we arrived... whenever that was.

[He's kidding. Probably. It's kind of hard to tell by his delivery. Kaiba isn't sure what to make of her body language here, the subject was an uncomfortable one? Hm, curious.]
Mm. [Not being lazy by any means, Kaiba had made many a trek across the environment when he needed to- but increased transportation options wouldn't be a bad idea]
I'm not saying I'm actually considering acquiring one of these creatures for myself.. but if I did, is there anything else I need to know about upkeep and their requirements? [Do they need to go on regular walks...? Based on their size, they'd be more likely to prefer having a field to roam in.]
no subject
Well, you'd want to keep them outside in an open area. They usually get fenced in and then taken out when needed. [ she shrugs. ] I'm not much of an expert. My people didn't use them for combat, but our allies did.
In the end, it's the same as all animals - you treat them with compassion and respect and they will in turn be loyal to you. Not too hard.
[ well, not too hard for the average person. mr. shakes down the elderly on the other hand... ]

As long at your name isn't Blue Oak or Hajime Iwaizumi you should be fine]... [The thought of becoming a rancher wasn't all that appealing. If he still had some employees to foist this off onto, it would be better. Still, there might be a better way- with the inclusion of some newer technology.] You at least know more about them than I do. [Not exactly glowing praise but an admission of fact]
Seems.. basic.
[Not that it was something he would necessarily excel at. One of the pros of his duel monsters is that he didn't have to actually take care of the animals pictured on the cardstock. The simple fact was that even the trains when they were working were unreliable at best. He wanted to be prepared for anything.]
Shouldn't be hard to spot one of these roaming around..

[ she wishes she knew more. farming, in general, would be a valuable skill even when food seems to be provided for them by the world to limited degrees! ]
If you ever think you need help, let me know. [ then, she shoots a tight smile. ] For better or worse, we're in this together right?
[ even if her opinion of him isn't stellar, they do have to get along. ]
no subject
[Not that it needed to be said, besides he still might want to invest in a larger one for other purpose. As for farming, Seto Kaiba was 100% a city boy. He liked things orderly, and automated as much as possible. Living in the void with it's lack of technology was such a hindrance to him.]
Mm. [Nodding to that. He probably should thank her?] I'll bear that in mind. [The offer, that is] Don't start giving me one of those speeches. I've heard enough of that to last me multiple lifetimes.
[Who could blame her really, after what she had seen?]
