[In general, Seto preferred to push his emotions aside as a standard operating procedure but it wasn't for everyone. He had no doubt that she could recover from the sense of loss but he didn't know what it would take or how long the duration would be. Selfishly, he did consider how this would effect him personally. He'd grown accustomed to her being the light to his shadow, so to speak and she was unable to fulfill that role currently.

Maybe that was a bit callous, but old habits die hard and he was used to looking out for number one. There was still a lot he had to learn about relationships, and seeing beyond himself

Mm. [Oddly, it did marginally bother him that she didn't come to him first- or.. at all. If he hadn't nearly tripped over her, they wouldn't be having this discussion. Was he so unreliable? Finding yet another way to make this more about him and less about the actual problem.]

[.. and a dismissal. Biting back a sigh, he nearly took her up on it and took off. The negative emotions were starting to be contagious.]

Repeating it doesn't change facts, and I'm not sure why you won't just tell me the truth.

[There was a slight hardening of his tone, she'd been more open with him when they were single, but perhaps that was the result of shared memories. Would she ever have confided in him without the catalyst? It was a bit hypocritical and unfair on his part since the same could be said in reverse. Still, he balled a fist defensively, as if he could feel the urge to metaphorically endeavor to close himself off more as well.]
