He has more than most people his age, but also, in spite of everything he'd done, he only regrets how the path had started. After a certain point, the cost of what's already been done simply became justification to hurl him further and faster down that path, until he didn't have time for regrets anymore.

Perhaps not. I've heard that the pain of regret fades with time, as well, so I suppose there is that to look forward to. It seems as though right now, time is the only resource we have in abundance.
