OPEN - am I blue? you'd be too

Who: Blue Oak and yoooou
Where: Mt. Silver's peak, Heavenly Blanc, and Mortis Lake (maybe Merlaut Apartments later)
When: throughout voidcember!
What: Between Red and Lance vanishing, Ren and Akechi seemingly vanishing, and Mementos, Blue has been having a real Bad Time.

A. Mortis Lake Forest

[When Blue is stressed out, he has a few ways of dealing with it. The healthiest one, thankfully, comes first.]

[Although they may not having all their usual abilities, having his full team of Pokémon back meant that Blue could get back into the swing of a training routine, and that was at least the first step in keeping his mind straight. Mortis Lake was a great place for this- Gyarados chills in the lake waters for a happy soak while Exeggutor sits amongst the other trees next to a meditating Alakazam, watching as Blue directs Arcanine and Pidgeot in Agility training. Eevee is trying to follow along, although even quick as he is, he can't make such powerful single bounds and dashes as the powerful 'windy' Pokémon can.]

Come on, Arcanine! A little quicker! This time, try to make it to that notched tree over there and back before Pidgeot makes it to that treetop and back! [Blue calls, absorbed in his training. He looks... exhausted, almost like he himself has been pushing at this for hours without a break. You'll have to forgive him and his Pokémon if they don't see you directly in the path of their makeshift training arena.]

B. Heavenly Blanc

[Whether it's before the disappearance of his coworker or after, patrons of Heavenly Blanc might find the bar.... less regularly manned than it usually is. At first, maybe one could chalk it up to the strange sleep cycles everyone has found themselves beholden to, but those that catch the bar's usual tender might realize that's not the only reason.]

[Those that knew him well probably knew Blue was a fan of the bottle to begin with, but the way he's slumped over the bar, or in of the booths, or laying spread eagle on the floor probably makes it obvious this isn't just his usual casual, raucous overdrinking. If a patron enters while he's miserably laying about, he'll blink up slowly, squint, and try to roll himself up. Gotta... get back to work...]

Ah, customer... jus' gimme a second...

C. Mt. Silver's Peak

[And when he just can't bring himself to face the outside world anymore, he goes to where's most familiar to him.]

[...It's sort of laughable that it's this place. It hurts, more than it helps; huddled up on the cavern at the peak, Blue looks out over the world of the void that he can see in glimpses between the veils of snow that fall, below the misty cloudcover that swirls this high up. He wonders if Red always looked down over Kanto like this, wanting to return, but unable to bear it. That was probably how it felt, right? ...Who can know what that guy was ever feeling, or thinking...]

[Blue tucks his face into his knees and sniffles, hard and gross, shivering against the warmth of his Arcanine, who whines and nuzzles against him. That idiot.... there was no way of knowing what had happened to him- if he had slipped and fallen down the mountain, if he'd gotten eaten in those terrible corridors full of monsters and mouths- or if he'd simply ...gotten tired of people again, and vanished somewhere. Gotten tired of him again.]

[Well, in the end, as Blue had always supposed back then- he wouldn't blame him.]

[Viridi makes a sound of disgruntlement and continues to sound like a cow in the wrong phoneme for a few moments.]

I'll get it eventually! You can't not have gods. All worlds have gods! Sooner or later, it will come around - we're the first ones born in most worlds! What kind of mythology goes, "And from Chaos stepped forth bears with spikes and spicy lava?" No one's ever heard of that! It's Chronos - time! Or Ymir - the giant of frost!

This is just backwards.

And why don't you just go and make friends and take care of the new animals? Isn't that the same thing as what you did before?

[ Turing winced at every shake and thump outside. They didn't know exactly what was going on out there, but that noise probably meant it wasn't quite safe to go wandering about. Granted, it wasn't Then the footsteps came. That was definitely a person, and logically they knew that, but that didn't change the fact that their first reaction was to shrink further into their blanket until their visitor went away.

They weren't sure anyone would understand their grief over a roughed up apartment, of all things.

There was a very important "but" there, however. Raihan had already done so much to help them, so the very least they could do was crawl out of their hiding spot from under the desk and greet him. It wouldn't do if they made him worry. ]

Yes... I'm down here.

[ it isn't like Raihan to worry - not outwardly, anyhow. he prefers to keep the vibe around him relaxed, staying aware while taking things in as they go. the situation they're in isn't something he can prepare for, like a battle. there are an infinite number of unknown variables that can't be accounted for, so the only real choice is to accept what he can see right in front of him.

holding onto hope is about all he can do, so he won't be giving up just yet. ]

Sure I do! Weird as this place is, I say every experience is worth remembering. [ it's definitely been interesting here, to say the least. and who else can say that they've met people from completely different universes? ] Forgetting it all would feel like I've missed out on something.

You know, you could probably make a pretty good trainer, [Blue smiles lightly, gesturing towards the outside of the bar.] If you befriend one of the Pidgey around here, or one of the Smeargle that live in the marketplace in Mt. Silver.

I could show you the ropes... You know, just lemme know.

[That's the last push of positivity that he can muster before the Real Feels™ ensue. Shoulders hanging, he lets out a deep sigh.]

[He knows that it's no good to just dwell over what's lost. But he had always been sort of bad at not being stuck in the past.] I know what you mean, [He grumbles,] I mean, while we're all here, we might as well help each other out, right?

....But there's some things that I don't think people out here'll ever get, [He glances up towards the rafters, squinting.] You know, me and Red... We've been friends since we were toddlers. No real replacing something like that, so it's not like I expect it, but...

I don't know. It's not like I don't appreciate all of you guys, though. [He tries to give her one more grin, weak as it is.] Maybe I don't think all of you deserve having to deal with me.

I get what you mean, but so far we haven't heard of anything. So if you're basically just another mortal now, I doubt we're gonna know any better until-- whatever brought us here is good and ready.

[As absurd as her retelling is- Blue likes to think he has a healthy respect for the natural order of the world! And he'd hope that a so-called Goddess of Nature would too.]

[This place? Was far from 'natural'. So who could say what controlled it....]

Sheesh, do you really think people can just be replaced like that!? New friends are great and all, but... A-anyway, the Pokémon here don't seem to have any abilities, either. So I guess whatever took your powers away decided Pokémon should be boring, too.

Hmmmm. I can't say I'd be upset if I forgot some of the stuff around here, but....

..I guess it's not entirely bad.

[He tosses a glance up towards Raihan over his shoulder, with a playfully raised eyebrow. The other trainer is free to take that however he likes!]

Oh, and the Pidgey here are so cute. I think I'd miss them the most of all...!

I didn't say 'replace' your friends, I said make new ones and commune with the animals so you don't spend your time moping on a mountain in a snowstorm.

You're just trying to find reasons not to self-improve.

[Viridi assumes a superior expression.]

Take it or leave it! That's the advice of a god bestowed upon a lowly mortal.

[Blue balks at the accusation, and although he's rankled, it's... not like she's wrong, and he knows it. His jaw clenches, but aside from an ineffective glare, what is he gonna say to that?]

...Tch. Thanks for the blessing, [He begrudgingly mutters, plopping a second snowball atop his first. It's coming out to be quite the squat little Snow-vee.] You know, it's kinda funny to hear that advice when I'm just copying that loser, anyway.

Pretty lame of me, huh?

He doesn't have thumbs, [Blue grumps back, muffled into the table. Eevee, for his part, preens a little. He thinks he's allowed that!]

[And, you know, when it comes to Blue and the arts... maybe a little bit of both.]

[Luckily, the bar is stocked with plenty of non-alcohol: teas, coffee, and juices and sodas for mixing; Blue tended to make trips to Wall Market to restock when he needed to, and even pressed some of the juices himself from the berries he had. He was fairly self-sufficient... when he wasn't in a sorry state like this.]

[Eevee hops off the table momentarily and pads towards Venti instead, hopping instead on the bar counter as he pokes around.] Eevuuii?

Are you really going to bother...? [He doesn't expect Venti to understand him; he's used to communicating with humans in intent alone.]

I have no idea what pre-existing mental hang-up you're referring to, but if you want me to say 'no,' you don't know me very well.

[obviously. they've talked for 10 minutes.]

But you can be better than 'that loser.' ...Or if the thought gives you some sort of complex, just like, stop comparing yourself to 'that loser.'

I mean Red, [He grumbles- he's slowly learning to push past Viridi's bluntness. He can adapt! Or at least pretend to be unaffected. He'll sulk about it more later.] For a long time when we were kids, he came and parked his butt up here on the mountain, avoiding everyone. Went through his own moping phase.

Well, it was my fault, though. So if you wanna call it a complex, I guess you're not wrong.

[Being up here kind of helped him feel closer, in a way. Sure, it wasn't any less pathetic... But not comparing himself to Red, now that was an impossible ask.]

Ahhhh.... Don't worry. I'll get over it eventually. I just need to miss other people more than I miss him.

Why're you bothering to talk all this out with me, anyway? Is lowly, mortal drama more interesting than whatever else you could stir up?

Oh, right.

[The guy he was clearly in love with. Viridi identifies with the thought of calling your love obsession 'that loser.']

I'm helping you because I'm a magnanimous, kind, beautiful and dewy-skinned perfect goddess!

[actually blue got it in one.]

Also I like your dog.

[In a stage whisper, she leans towards Arcanine and asks if he wants to live with her, instead. She offers cookies.]

Hmmmmm.

[Read Blue's face: not buying it. But, you know what? She took the time to talk to him rather than just ditching, and that had to count for something, right?]

[So, he'll let the deflection slide; besides, Arcanine is the one that truly deserves all this attention.]

That's fair, [Blue shrugs, watching as Arcanine makes an unsure, grumbling sound at the question, but perks up the moment cookies are brought into play. Now you have him on board!] He likes spicy food, [Blue comments helpfully.] Fire-type and all.

I'll make them out of spicy lava. Come see me later. Ditch the human.

[She continues to whisper enticingly.]

OK, anyway, now that I've cured all your problems, I officially declare this mountain mope-free.

I am going to go get a milkshake.

[ Raihan definitely wouldn't consider it safe for most people, including himself! but he's used to seeing territory fights like this, and at least has an idea of how to get to safety when they break out. as the sound of blunt contact echoes through the halls, he sighs a little and crouches down to meet him with a small, somewhat apologetic smile. ]

So, how did you manage to get a Tyranitar rampaging around your flat?

Sure it isn't! I'm here, after all.

[ he gives him a wink, choosing to take it in the way he prefers - as an ego boost. he's not wrong about there being some things here best left behind, but if there's any memories he wants to keep, it's of the friends he's made. ]

I... I don't know. I woke up and the Tyranitar was just standing there in my room.

[ Turing glanced at the doorway before deciding to direct their gaze at the shrapnel on the ground. ]

If this incident was someone's way of playing a prank on me, it is a very cruel joke!

[ he can't help but feel bad for the AI - he knows this isn't the first time they've been pushed into a corner of their room against their will, and it similarly isn't the first time that Raihan has had to intervene. if he can, he at least wants to ease their worries a little. ]

Sounds like how I woke up to a motorbike being half shoved out my window... 'cept I'd argue that your situation's a little more dangerous. [ he winces a little at the blunt sound of contact between Duraludon and Tyranitar, but he can tell that his partner is holding his opponent off just fine. ] We'll have to see... if it's wild, that's gonna be more of a problem than anything else. But you did the right thing by hiding, so stay put.

[ he stands back up to full height, taking out the Ultra Ball he'd readied from his pocket with a smile and an interested look in his eye. ] I've always wanted to train a Tyranitar, so this might actually work out for me!

[ A motorbike?! That got Turing's attention real quick. The fact that they weren't the only one who had been put into an odd predicament was reassuring, but that reassurance was definitely coming at a price. Even more so at the sound of more fighting in the hallway, which made them jump. With all of those things in mind, including the possible dangers...they still frowned at the prospect of staying put. ]

Okay...

[ They were about to let Raihan go, but something very important was worth saying first. ]

W-wait! There was a ball like that one when I woke up as well. I don't know where it landed, as I, um...kind of threw it at Tyranitar and it went flying.

[He has no patience for tea, so juice seems like the way to go. Besides, if he pours himself a hard cider, you can barely tell the difference at a glance...!

While he's getting the drinks together, he smiles at the... fox? Can't be a cat since he'd be sneezing up a storm by now, so he's going with fox. There's something odd about the way Eevee is talking... but it doesn't seem concerning to him just yet. Venti leans in, lowering his voice:] If he sobers up, then there's more for me, ehehe! And friends of the bartender get to drink for free, right? I'd say it's a win-win for everyone.

[So, yes, he is going to keep Blue company until he passes out again. It's the responsible thing to do (and it might get him more free drinks)!!]

Everyone drinks for free, [Eevee scoffs, like Venti is being presumptuous, but he's no less amused by the boy's devious plan. Hey, no reason for him to interfere!]

[Blue lifts his head from the table after a good few moments of sulking (and not having any immediate attention), watching Venti bustle around the bar from his place at the booth. He doesn't really mind if the guy serves himself for a while; what else was the bar here for? And he needed a break, anyway.]

Good, you can be the tender for a while, and earn your keep, [He calls, waving a vague hand off the edge of the table.] Do people really let you pay in song...?

[ he feels a little bad that he can't reassure Turing more, but having them hide really was the safest course of action - a rampaging Tyranitar is dangerous for even the most experienced of Trainers, and he'll have to tread carefully to make sure both he and Duraludon keep control of the situation.

he's about to head back into the fray when Turing speaks up, and his brow furrows in momentary confusion. if there was already a Poké Ball somewhere around here, it could mean that this isn't a wild Pokémon after all. ]

Mm... that might complicate things. But it just means we need to adjust our angle! [ he winks at Turing. ] You just saved me from looking uncool. Thanks!

[ now, to find that ball... if it does belong to the Tyranitar, he can return it and (hopefully) put an end to its tantrum. ]

Trraaaarrrrrr!

[A timely yell from the hallway punctuates the need for Raihan and Turing to find some way to put a stop to this; there's a heavy crashing as the Pokémon, locked in combat, grapple into one of the walls on the other side of Turing's apartment.]

[As the dust settles from yet another round, Tyranitar shakes himself off and stares Duraludon down once again, swinging his tail behind him.] Feh... You're pretty good! [He raises his tiny dinosaur arms again, as if in preparation to make another charge. He's starting to get a little tired out... He'd just arrived in this place, and he hasn't even eaten, but far be it for the Dark type to worry about that when faced with a matter of pride!] But how long can you keep it up? Let's go!

[Unaware of the shonen battle occurring down the hall, Blue is just entering the apartments from a shift at the bar; some weird little Seedot-like Pokémon had attached itself to him since he'd woken up from his nap, and he was still trying to figure out what he should do with it when he hears the crash anew from down the hall, and jumps.]

Yikes! What the-- [Dashing down the hallway (with nutboy in tow), the kaiju battle is not what he expects to see when he rounds the corner, coughing at the dust raised up by their battle and waving it away with a gasp of shock.] T-Tyranitar!?

[ Even if Raihan couldn't reassure Turing more, the fact that they were able to help him in that small way at least brought a smile to their face. It was certainly better than nothing! Turing was just about to lend a hand with with Raihan's search when that noise came from outside. That was more damage to the apartments, and they felt that horrible sinking feeling return. Turing gave nervous glances to what was left of the doorway and then back to Raihan, as if they were considering whether they could manage to get into the hallway before being caught.

Sorry Raihan, but an angry Tyranitar was, in fact, not the scariest thing they'd ever come face to face with.

However, before Turing could bolt, they heard Blue's voice. They scrambled back up the chair, up to the window and poked their head out. ]

Wait! It's not safe right now!

[ he makes a mental note to promise to help Turing fix things, but his train of thought and search for the wayward Poké Ball is interrupted by the sound of a familiar voice. ]

Blue! Good timing! [ he winces at another crash, this time thanks to Duraludon's tail hitting the wall. ] Is it yours?

[ because it certainly isn't his, and if it doesn't belong to either of them... well, that's an entirely new problem. at the very least, two Trainers should be able to subdue it. ]
