And unlike, say, temples in Athens or Rome, I'm not certain there are as many physical places to visit. At a guess, I'd say the different climates have much to do with it. I've heard Scandinavian winters are quite brutal.
Not to mention the fact that many of what we would consider temples or churches would have been taken over by the Christians centuries ago. According to my studies, they were quite good at stamping out anything that might oppose them.
