At first, there is nothing. You can't remember how you got here, or where "here" even is, but the endless white of the void stretches out in all directions. For an unfathomable moment that lasts both a millisecond and an eternity the world is a completely featureless slate, devoid of anything interesting to show for itself.

But you're here, and perhaps you're not alone. What else is there to do but strike up a conversation?

Something
After nothing, there is something. The change is abrupt, confusing, and after all is said and done you can't be sure of what you witnessed. When it's over the results speak for themselves: the world has suddenly formed itself around you, and what was once an empty landscape is now a diverse, thriving environment.

You've also been dropped in the middle of it. This may not be a problem, but not all places are created equal. The peak of Mount Silver might be troublesome to get down from, and the middle of Lake Mortis will leave you drenched at best - you’ll have bigger problems to deal with if you end up at the bottom of the ocean beyond Takoba Beach. If you’re stuck, hopefully someone else is around to give you a hand. Otherwise… well, you have all the time in the world to figure things out.

More Things
The plants aren't the only new life that's appeared in this world. Animals have begun to appear as well - some of them might even be familiar, but they don't quite look the same as you know them to be, and their behavior may be even more alien.

They, too, have been dropped haphazardly into this world, and you may find yourself sharing a space with them for some time. The tall winged mammals seem content to wander about in search of trees, uninterested in the odd behavior of any people they run into. The smaller mammals are friendlier, perhaps even curious, though their claws can be quite painful if they're made upset. The little walking cans seem harmless... until you get a bit too close and they decide to show their teeth. Best to avoid those ones if you can.

And if you see the flopping orange body of a dragon, you’d best run fast. Not even land is enough to save you from their pursuit.
