The detective and the thief - OPEN 3-WAY-THREAD.
Ren is too focused on the conversation that perhaps it gives this newcomer time to approach before he greets them... Not that the lack of light does him any favors.
Or perhaps he can hear you, gently kicking Akechi under the table in a "shut up" pleading before he can stand up, pat his apron and welcome you properly.
Either way, this is an opportunity for those who want to ask these two assholes some questions. Have at them.)
Walking into the Persona 5 cast like 'I've always been here'
But when he steps in, he soon realizes that he's not alone. Looks like another one of his friends is here! Osomatsu beams as h walks over to the booth, giving a curious look to the book before grinning at the two boys.]
How do you do, fellow kids.
[He immediately proceeds to snicker to himself.]
No, but really, heya, guys. Dark day today, huh?
This is a little depressing. What's goin' on?

Also he and Ren were engaged in discussing some of the finer points of Rousseau's The Social Contract, so the interruption isn't exactly welcome.]
Your eyes will adjust after a time. It's better than being out in the wind.
[Oso might notice that in deference to said wind, Akechi's pulled his hair back into a tiny ponytail at the nape of his neck. He's worked hard to keep his hair nice, he doesn't intend to stop now!]

i don't know what will come of this but it's happening
[So he's quiet, nearly silent as he approaches the two, drawn by the sound of an argument between voices he recognizes as his eyes adjust.]
[Not that he's approaching them to interrupt. He's just off to the side, listening.]

Take the reception of society to figures such as the Thieves, [Akechi is saying, a hint of a grin barely visible in the darkness. He's drawn his hair back into a tiny ponytail in an attempt to keep the wind from absolutely destroying his hair.] Or that wretched man. Do you truly think a society that immediately embraces the next savior is capable of choosing its own government? Rousseau's Social Contract necessarily assumes-
[A beat, then he seems to realize something a few seconds too late, head jerking around.] Cole-san. It's not polite to eavesdrop.

but, hmmm. he's also interested in the sight of people partaking so passionately in things they Enjoy, so! maybe he's a weird stalker for a little bit, composing a little ditty in his notebook (that he's not even sure is fully in the staff) in honor of """Passionate Friendship""" before he finally approaches.
at least he's nice enough to wait until there's a small lull in the conversation. (and at least i'm nice enough to resist the temptation of making leo full face-plant into their booth from walking into it, it crossed my mind.) ]
You guys sure are getting into it! Trying to find the light in the darkness?
[ because it sure is dark. ]
touches the ground
But he isn't expecting to actually be approached. He's tied his hair back into a small ponytail at the nape of his neck to keep the wind from mussing it too badly, so he doesn't have to do much more than flick his eyes sideways to see who it is. Hm.]
Nothing so poetic. Just a discussion of the finer points of certain philosophical essays.

He can be found outside, a basket of flowers picked from the forest being replanted in the surroundings of the bar. The wind doesn't seem to bother him much, as most things usually don't, so he's just calmly tending to his garden in progress.
It should look nice when he's done.)
The Day Parsee was re-introduced to the concept of barometric pressure without the concept of gum.
[There's a shriek from the other side of the building, loud enough that it carries on the light breeze from all the way at the end of the path leading to the bridge off in the distance. It's followed by a lot over very loud, indistinct shouting and cursing that's getting closer.
Eventually, a bedraggled, scowling girl came from around the corner, clutching her ears and growling hard.]

She descends the stairs into an empty bar, and her head tilts. Had Ren gone somewhere out of the blue? It wasn't often that they left the place unattended like this, so she wanders to the door to swing it open and see what the noise is all about outside. The wind immediately hits her, and while it isn't violent by any means (yet), it still blows her hair around enough that she has to press her hands on her head to keep the flyaways down.
That's when she spots him tending to... something, but from where she's positioned, she can't see what it is.]

🏥 WEAK!
It doesn't look too bad, but it surely isn't a nice sight. Ren rolls the bottom hem up, so that should it bleed again, his only pair of pants is safe from further damage. Flicking the excess water from his washed hands, Ren is preparing to return to his rightful place at the bar.
Even his uniform would definitely make for a good spare.)
🍃
Ren is mid-walk when it hits, reflexes attempting to hold items in place on the table.
Wind, they do not have replacements.)

As the wind becomes stronger, Bowser grabs onto the nearest somewhat stable object, which happens to be the table Ren is trying to keep items on, to keep himself from being moved by the wind. However, he makes more of an effort to protect himself from the wind than what is on the table.]

In the meantime, Ren is busying himself with cleaning up Heavenly Blanc - dishes were done and the counter is now being wiped down. He's distracted, that's for sure, and it shows the way he jumps a bit when he hears a newcomer entering the bar.)

♟️ preparing for game night
... Also, it's a great excuse to actually show-off that proficiency stat!
Ren can be found outside, his dagger in hand as he carves and reshapes pieces of wood to put together what could be described as a very mediocre shogi set. Eh, at least it's something?
First time for everything.)

regardless, she tries to check it out when she doesn't think a lot of people are around. ren is quickly spotted as she approaches and she thinks to leave, but the wood he's fiddling with gets her attention. she doesn't announce herself until she's inches from him, very normally. ]

PROTAG ENERGY TOO STRONG. (open)
The biggest issue would be his leg injury, but thankfully, it was around 70% healed. Ren has his knife in hands, having requested Akechi to leave it with him to explore - yet another attempt to find the Phantom Thieves in the environment. He's not giving up anytime soon. It was then he found the cave, just too alluring for his curiosity.
What could be further down the path?)
no subject
Still, he can see, after a fashion, and as he walks, he observes, kicking small rocks into visible trail markers for himself so he can find his way back. It's not unlike entering a Palace for the first time, though this time there doesn't seem to be any hope of a map. At least the torch, makeshift as it is, can serve as a weapon in a pinch.
Speaking of the weapon he and Ren share... his footsteps quicken at the sight of a familiar silhouette of tousled hair up ahead.]

Merlaut Apartments
He's pleased with the changes, at least. The door now displays a little, poorly drawn (because he's not Yusuke!) symbol, and whoever approaches the open door at this moment will find Ren sporting a different outfit, carefully tending to some of the plants and flowers he picked from the environment to add some life to the setting.)
closed to edgy raccoon
Without his coat to conceal and carry the dagger, Baselard rests comfortably in Ren's hands, a spinning of the blade happening on occasion while both him and Akechi find their way to the beach. At first glance, Ren hadn't noticed the new objects that wash up on the shore.
The beach was often too cluttered for his eyes to really stop on something unless he was actively searching - this time being a clear exception when he glances towards the sand. Without a warning, Ren halts to kneel and inspect the maganize that he stepped on. While there are no cohesive words or sentences, it wasn't difficult to recognize it for what it was, with Akechi's face on the cover in his phony stance of Detective Prince.)
Look.
(Thanks for the reminder, Void!)
no subject
[Some might call a walk along the beach romantic. Akechi would argue that this is hardly that. They aren't lovers walking hand-in-hand basking in each other's company. For one thing, the sword strapped to his back doesn't really fit a beach-themed mood, and he's honestly started to get annoyed by all the sand in his loafers.
Still, new things were washing up on the beach, apparently, and there could be something useful. So Ren's call brings him closer with an absent curiosity -- curiosity that's quickly replaced with a distainful snort.]
What, would you like me to sign it for you? Toss it back in the ocean with the trash.
[He doesn't need it, but it does piss him off to have something like that show up here.]
