A Novakid on a Mission
Who: Indigo and OPEN
What: Indigo tries to get chemistry to work so she can make concrete. Then she gets bored and messes around with the trash/furniture on Takoba Beach.
Where: Inside the caves of Mt. Silver, Mortis Lake, and Takoba Beach
When: Before the walkways in Mt. Silver show up; possibly backdated if necessary? Blame it on timey-wimey wibbly-wobbly if nothing else.
Content Warnings: Can't think of any, will add them as they come up.
1. Duck, duck, goose (Caves of Mt. Silver)
Indigo can be found wandering around the caves of Mt. Silver, with an open bottle of vinegar in one hand and the front half of a broken shovel (she found it in the Takoba trash) in the other. Every few steps, she tips the vinegar on its side, splashing a little on the rocks of the ground or wall. For a long time, this only results in creating a wet spot where she poured the vinegar, and Indigo looks at it with disappointment before continuing on.
After what feels like forever of this bizarre test, when Indigo pours some vinegar on a rock, it... hisses and bubbles. She lets out a joyful whoop that echoes throughout the cave even without the help of sound carrying farther than it should, and begins to go about prying it up with her shovel.
From then on, it's sporadic and random as to which rocks do nothing when the vinegar is poured, and which ones make bubbles. But when one makes bubbles, Indigo claims it; if it's small enough to pick up, she'll simply pick it up, otherwise she'll start hacking at it with the shovel if it looks delicate enough to separate from the surroundings. With some patience, she gets a good-sized pile of rocks this way, piled just outside the entrance to the cave she's in.
On her way back to unload some more rocks, Indigo spots a rock she tested earlier, still wet. She's not sure what compels her to try the test again, but she does, splashing more vinegar on the rock. It... hisses and bubbles, even though it didn't do anything when she tried it the first time; Indigo mentally scowls down at it.
"Now that don't make a lick o' sense."
2. Bonfire (Mortis Lake)
The construction Indigo has made at the edge of Mortis Lake isn't so much a kiln as it is a gigantic layer cake, with the rocks she's collected and firewood as the layers. But it's close enough as she lights it ablaze, simply sitting by while she waits for it to go out, making sure it doesn't spread to the nearby trees.
When the fire does go out, she takes a selection of rocks from the pile and places them in a nearby rusted wheelbarrow, graciously provided by, again, Takoba Beach. One by one she whacks them with her shovel; one, one rock crumbles when she hits it. But one is enough, one tells her that what she's trying is possible. She puts the other rocks back, lights the fire again, and goes to wait. Indigo is nothing if not tenacious, not easily giving up... but stars, this is boring.
3. A bored Novakid is a dangerous thing (Takoba Beach)
Novakid are not known for their ability to stick with boring tasks. So after a few rounds of the fire, she takes a break, wandering back down to Takoba Beach to see what she can find there.
The objects she pulls together, both furniture and trash, seem eclectic and random, and when she works, it looks like she's gone to her madness place. But when all is said and done, she has constructed... a wheelchair! Well, more like a wheel-recliner, as it has the ability to tilt the backrest down and the footrest up when it's in 'park'. It looks quite comfortable too, as she took the cushions from an unassembled couch. The only problem is... one wheel has four spokes, and the other has five. Indigo pulls them back off of her creation, looking down at them with displeasure; she pulled these out of the trash and carefully scrubbed the rust off, so it's not like beggars can be choosers, but it'll pull to one side and be a pain to steer like this.
Looking up, Indigo finds someone watching her; she has no idea how long they've been there, but she holds up the wheels.
"Ya think you can find me a partner to one o' these? It works better if they match."
4. Wildcard???
((Let me know if you want to do something else with Indigo! You're also free to run into her in the middle of any these prompts, rather than just the end.))
