Who: Legion and ... you?
What: Videogames and failed attempts to befriend horrible monsters
Where: Beach, forest
When: Early November
Content Warnings: None so far.
A) The humorous option
(The storm is sudden and intense, forcing them to dash for cover not from the rain, but the cloud to ground lightning.
They are on the beach, and not much shelter exists, save for the shadow of half a couch sticking out of a particularly large pile of garbage.
It is not a particularly good shelter, however their own nature protects them. As a being composed of mostly plastic, they are a poor target: electrical charges move freely within their circuits but they make a poor conductor between the lightning and the ground.
Contrary to stereotype, the rain does not bother them.
They are attempting to figure out the safest method of leaving the area when they hear their videogame console turn on.
They take it out and look at it uncertainly, but it appears to be functioning as normal. Their headflaps ripple contemplatively.
This is not an ideal situation for playing but ... they've missed their games. It does not take long to succumb to temptation.
And thus, anyone else who is out in the storm might see them huddled there, videogame console in their hands.)
B) The sad but also humorous option
(These creatures are not their people.
Their people are ... gone.
As the afterlife clearly exists, it is possible Legion will see them again someday, but for now, there is nothing, save for the promise of continued existence in other timelines, and these creatures born partially from their memories.
They are quiet, not wanting to alert the Geth/Zumyu animal as they approach.
Once they get close enough, they lift their hand and toss a large piece of mushroom at the tail lure that looks so much like one of their people.
SNAP! A flurry of movement. The predator devours the food in two gulps.
And then, it sees Legion.
With a horrible garbled mechanical noise it charges.
This reaction was unanticipated: they thought feeding it would help! They don't have much time for other thoughts before they turn to run, screaming in Geth.)

(Talking with people the organic way, for instance, is ridiculously slow, inefficient, and drawn out. And yet, here they are, talking.)
Affirmative. (Not all of the jokes are offensive or sexual even. Some are just silly, though more rude forms of humor seem to predominate.)
Radio allows for the transmission of aural communication between devices. In game, this allows for listening to music or talk shows from a limited selection of stations. (And they'll explain how to turn on the shuttle's radio.)
no subject
...or just annoy people with music and bad jokes all the time. [Forgive her. She didn't understand how telephones worked much less internet networks.]
Kind of wish sometimes I could talk like you were... in that memory. Probably only able to do that with you if I could, but it'd be faster wouldn't it?
no subject
(So they actually have something like that, but it's only for robots like Legion.
They headtilt.)
You wish to join our collective?
no subject
It's not a bad thing. [She shrugged.] But I'm curious, ok?
no subject
(Would she want to know them more, if it were possible that such a thing could drive her mad?)
no subject
Don't say that. I'm fine. I'm just curious, is all. You're so different from what we are. I want to understand better.
But I do know there's limits. I can't very well become part machine, so I don't think I could ever really communicate the way you do, not like that.
no subject
It is possible for organics to augment themselves with machinery.
(It's a correction, but not a suggestion. She very well could become part machine, they're just not going to recommend it for something like this.)
You are also alien to us.
(Most sophonts are highly social species. Prior to learning about the territorial nature of Hashihime, they had thought all sophonts were highly social species.
This isn't even touching on all the other differences between them.)
no subject
[Thankfully she had enough sense to figure out that it was almost certainly a very very bad idea.]
I guess there's a lot that's hard to understand for both of us, isn't there? What confuses you most about me?
no subject
(They remember her talking about them being territorial. It's still weird to them, as a collective of creatures who would cease to be alive if separated.)
no subject
[A pause and a consideration.]
If you mean youkai and oni in general, I try. But it doesn't come natural, and they don't like being around a spirit of jealousy much. Not great at parties.
no subject
She is the last?
Knowing the suffering involved in the ritual and her existence they agree with the decision not to share it. However, the implication that she doesn't care, that she may even prefer to be the last? It is hard for them to imagine such an alien perspective.)
You are rejected for your nature.
no subject
To an extent, yeah. Some youkai are more easy to deal with than others. the least savory live in old hell, and there are ones even they don't like having around. I'm definitely in that category.
Only a couple really tolerate me.
no subject
You have no allies in your home universe?
(Considering the sort of people and things they've encountered, youkai must be downright pleasant if Parsee is among the worst.)
no subject
The whole jealousy thing's a turn-off.
no subject
(They can see why it would be. Still, they're glad she had at least some friends in her world.)
Have you encountered any others who are immune to the effects of your abilities?
(Are they the only one?)
no subject
[Which she wasn't inclined to do with either of them.]
no subject
(Even if her powers return to her, she won't be alone, or reliant on them for company.)
no subject
no subject
(She was extremely distressed when her powers were restored to her in the dreamworld. The Geth do not forget: they remember every detail.)
no subject
We're fine.
.... This is not a perfect system yet, but believe me when I say it's a lot better than home.
no subject
(They know how much it meant to them to have friends they knew wouldn't betray them or question their loyalty because they were a machine.
They know that any improvement, no matter how small, is important.)
no subject
[There wasn't really that much else to say. But the fact that Legion had said it at all really did mean a lot to her. People were being so very supportive, but something about a coldly logical being being supportive meant it was logically possible, right?]
no subject
(The thunder is becoming softer, more distant.)
