[Kaiba never missed an opportunity to tout his merits, which he held in much higher regard than his current companion. It was likely another discrepancy in timelines, as this sort of technology was just beginning to be dispersed among the populace. Also, gaming was a profitable and major industry in his own dimension- the ability to duel expertly was a valuable skill.]

[He was quiet for a few moments, as he just gave Add a hard stare. What was with that laugh?]

If you're going to launch into a pretentious monologue I'd prefer it if you either kept it to yourself or make it quick and succinct.. [Since the laughter had seemed nefarious in it's delivery.]

These pokéballs shouldn't be functional- they seem to be based on theoretical physics and subatomic restructuring. [..and yet.] Matter is being converted into light and then stored inside this containment unit, but that wouldn't account for the loss of mass or why creatures of any size and shape could be encapsulated within it. [Look- there's many potential hypotheses here]

But fine, so maybe Kaiba really does know what he's talking about. Now it's Add's turn to flaunt his knowledge.]

It's the reconstruction that I'm more interested in—turning something into energy is simple with the right tools, but turning that energy back into solid matter is far more difficult, even more so if the goal is a living, breathing creature. It's basically the same as creating life from scratch. Imagine if a technology like that could be reverse-engineered, aren't there more important things you could do with it than store wild animals? You'd basically be playing god.

If the intent is storage, it'd make more sense to utilize dimensional gaps that don't require the deconstruction and reconstruction of targets. So I wonder if it might actually be some kind of portal... the target appears to be reduced to energy, but is actually "absorbed" by a controlled dimensional gap created by the device. The appearance of the light is so the gap can be contained and reused later to release the target without any hassle. Although, it's quite amateur to try and contain a dimensional distortion instead of just reusing the same coordinates...

Ah, but I'm sure you have your own theories, of course?

[It's hard isn't it, to refrain from reacting to something like that. Still, somehow Add manages to contain himself.

When Kaiba is done delivering the initial speculations about how these devices might operate he listens to what the other has to say.]

Mm. It's taking an already complex structure, breaking it down then trying to reassemble it. It's a lot more complicated than most would realize. [Unless they knew their sci-fi or fiction maybe though he hated the idea of referencing .. oh.. say .. the fly] You're starting to go into after-school special territory, parse it down. [Referring to the hypothetical questions usually reserved to get a younger audience thinking, and engaged in the subject matter. Kaiba didn't need the additional encouragement, he was already invested and considering the possible extensions]

[Most of what was presented was highly experimental theory. It wasn't something that had been done before, and considering the original source of the Pokeballs, Kaiba found it just as questionable.]

It's interesting, as a concept.

Something like that, were it possible would certainly be less messy to pull off. [No worrying about trying to get all the bits into the same scale nor location] .. but I don't really find either suggestion practical. As you stated before, why use something that advanced for storing a prized, overgrown pet? Not that I would put that level of frivolity outside of the realm of reason considering the people I've met that hold prior knowledge of the technology.

Other than the previous one? Mm, I do but I'd prefer to get further along in my testing before I get into it.
