(Ah, routine has been better established now, with time being something that can be counted and accounted for. It should be no surprise that Ren spent what could be considered months in Heavenly Blanc, simply because time went so slowly or didn't pass at all to their understanding and well - sleep was nowhere to be found.

Now they have actual scheduled shifts and what not, and it's Ren's turn. At least he has his favorite person to keep him company while he stirs the pot - nevermind whatever philosophical discussion they were having. Both have had their nose on that book as the sole source of entertainment... And it's not even that entertaining to Ren.

The bell, the side eye silent question and Ren nods shortly as he pours the curry onto their plates before tip toeing to reach for one more on a top shelf.)

Welcome. (If Iwai got annoyed at Ren's quietness when he first came to see him, he's about to be real annoyed now. Whenever Akechi is around, Ren just lets him run his mouth endlessly while Ren watches from the background unless directly spoken to. He doesn't talk as much as the other, so...)

[Iwaizumi raises an eyebrow when he’s greeted by what appears to be a perfect stranger. The “Iwaizumi-kun” is entirely too familiar, and it brings about an irritated scowl - but, when he sees that Ren is in Akechi’s company, he does seem to ease a bit. If only to maintain whatever awkward but amicable rapport they’ve built thus far, he approaches the table, hands remaining stuffed in his pockets, expression flat.]

Iwaizumi. [Drop the “kun”, stranger.] My reputation precedes me, I guess.

[He offers Ren a short nod in greeting, then puts his eyes back on Akechi.]

Who are you?

[Ah- one of those types. There's a beat as Akechi mentally reshuffles how he wants to present himself, then just inclines his head in a nod of both apology and acknowledgement.]

I should say so. A brawl almost loud enough to wake the dead, hm?

[He smiles, but only Ren can catch that it's a joke. Considering that, well. Akechi was comatose through the whole thing. Such a pity; he'd have liked to have see that. Maybe tossed in a few choice words to see if he could escalate it, just for fun. At least Ann had done that for him. Maybe he should get her a thank-you gift for the entertainment.]

My name is Akechi. Ren tells me you had a rather unfortunate encounter with one of his friends during that whole... incident. I simply wanted to make sure there wasn't any bad blood between us.

(Oh dear LORD, Ren forgot how Akechi sounds like to outsiders. Not only do they have an agreement, but also, it's rare that they talk to someone new when they're together as of late. After all, the people who hang out with both of them got to see Akechi at least be a little less...

Ren does catch the joke and he smiles just a bit. Hadn't Yoshizawa ran to his room to get him, Ren wouldn't have witnessed it, since he was staying with Akechi all this time. He almost wants to snort when he hears "his friends", Akechi already separating himself from the general group... While attempting to make sure he's not in trouble for being a part of it. Confusing, but merely out of curiosity, he's not jumping in to correct.

Instead, he just puts a fresh plate of curry in front of both, along with the cups of coffee that complement it.)

Ann? [Weird how Iwaizumi loosens up just a little when she’s mentioned. That bad blood had been quelled pretty quickly, it seems.] Not sure why one of Ren’s friends attacking me would make me give half a shit about you.

Anyway, Ann’s fine. I don’t hold it against her.

[In fact, if he had to pick out one person in the Void that he actually liked, it would probably be Ann. Having a desperately needed volleyball partner can do that to a guy.]

Honestly, the entire thing was bullshit, and I’d really rather everyone drop it. It was just a stupid fight.

[Also? Kaiba totally deserved it.

[He throws Ren another quick nod - this time in thanks - when he sees the curry.]

Ren and I are quite close, after all. Some people might make the mistake of assuming that I'd hold similar antagonistic feelings, were I involved.

[Akechi rests his chin in his hand and gives Iwa another one of his winning smiles, the kind that only hints at touching his eyes, even as he studies his posture.]

So it's a relief to hear you're not the type to hold grudges. Kaiba-kun, [and he already knows Kaiba doesn't like that familiarity either, but hasn't point-blank asked him to stop, so he doesn't,] can be difficult to get along with, but considering the current state of things in this Void we've found ourselves in, it's in our best interests for everyone to get along, no? After all, there's not currently a system of checks or balances to ensure things don't get a little... violent.

(Quite close is a way to put it.

Somewhere deep within his heart, he knew Akechi just wouldn't drop it so easily. How was it that he once put it? He can't help but start an argument sometimes. Ren's eyes narrow, as to say shut up, which he is sure will be noted and ignored, or perhaps even challenged openly, as to make Ren speak.

[Iwa narrows his eyes at the unsolicited advice - no, he doesn’t like this guy at all. If it weren’t for him supposedly being friends with Ren, Iwaizumi would probably just walk away at this point, but he respects Ren, and for that alone he stays - that doesn’t mean he has to be nice though.]

If you’re trying to get me to play nice with that asshole, then you’re wasting your time, and I don’t recall asking your advice.

[And why does it sound like this guy is threatening him?]

You can quit assuming shit about me while you’re at it. I ain’t scared of him or anybody.

[Akechi takes the coffee Ren had set down before them and cradles it between both hands, eyebrow raised. He's starting to see how the fight started, and he's even more disappointed he wasn't there to witness it. It seems this boy has the same quick temper that Ryuji does, without Ren's calming hand to rein him in.]

I apologize if I offended you, [he says instead, taking a sip from the cup and setting it down to glance toward Ren with an almost hangdog look.] I assure you, I'm merely speaking out of concern for the group as a whole. This place seems to learn from our behavior, after all. Wouldn't you agree, Ren? It's in our best interest to get along.

(In the glance Akechi gave him, he was able to see the rather stern look he's giving his stupid boyfriend. If there is one thing Ren hates is when Akechi reverts back to Detective Prince and now really is not the time. Ren's working to make Iwai feel better welcomed, Akechi, don't ruin it!!

In regards to the fight, which Ren has previously described to Akechi himself as Iwaizumi "doing the Lord's work", he gets why the man wouldn't want to get along with Kaiba. Ren hardly does himself. What good does it do to keep such air of self-importance when there's nothing here to back that up?)

I think it responds to what we do with the environment, not in it. (And he takes a sip of his coffee, narrowing his eyes at Akechi. Let's see if Ren can change the subject. To Iwaizumi:) Speaking of, have you found things for your apartment? (And to Akechi:) He's almost our downstairs neighbor.

(Yep, they live together.)

[Once again, Ren is probably the only reason that Iwaizumi is still engaging in this conversation, especially considering that every time Akechi speaks his ball-kicking foot starts to twitch. Who the hell does this guy think he is, anyway?]

I’m gonna ask you one more time to drop it before I excuse myself. It’s like I said. I ain’t in the business of playing nice with self-righteous assholes who think they can start a fight and then walk away.

[And that’s that. He directs his attention at Ren now - thank God for this change in topic.]

You two live together then? [Fantastic news for Ren and Iwa’s blossoming friendship, surely.]

[Do it. Try to kick him. He deserves it, but also it would make Akechi's day to get into a brawl that he can claim he didn't start.

But he just holds up his hands placatingly as if to prove that look, see? He means no harm. Ren would frown if he started a fight in Heavenly Blanc, and he's already certain that Ren is going to chew him out when they get home anyway. No need to add more fuel to that particular fire.]

As I said, we're quite close. How exactly would you describe the relationship we shared back in Tokyo, Ren?

[There's the barest ghost of a warning in his tone as he turns his smile on Ren. Best not to admit outright that they're dating, considering Iwaizumi doesn't like him. No need for him to have a negative impression of Ren, too.]

(Ren would murder Akechi, that's what he'd do. No brawls in his almost Tokyo home, one can be sure... But he definitely is in the right path, thinking he's in trouble afterwards, at home. He is.

At Iwai, Ren nods. Now their room started looking like an apartment, because prior to that, it just the (absurd amount of) flowers, a bed, a desk and that was about it. Ren had only scavanged for cooking utensils up to very recently, now they even have furniture and the like.)

I can go with you if anything. (Because, believe it or not, Ren is actually pretty strong, even if he doesn't look like it. There were two questions directed at him, one after the other, and Ren pauses a little to address Iwai first. Brain small.) We do.

(And to Akechi, he's not very sure what to say without spooking Iwai about their history or well, about the fact they're together?. "We played billiards, it was very straight"? That can't be it. Best be honest, after all.)

[Then this guy is yet another Void-dweller from Ren’s home too. Iwa can accept rivals as a valid starting point for what he’s assuming is some sort of friendship - anything beyond that would be none of his business anyway, so he makes no assumptions. As much as he might not like this Akechi guy (based solely on this shitty first impression, mind you), he won’t sneeze at the fact that Ren has someone from home here, and honestly, it’s hard not to be a little jealous. He doesn’t mean to sound so bitter when he says:]

Must be nice to have him around then. [He realizes how shitty that might have sounded as he clears his throat, raps his knuckles awkwardly on the table. He turns his attention back to Ren.] I’ve got all I need back at my place. But thanks. I appreciate it.

[With that, he takes to picking at the curry in front of him without quite taking a bite. How did this get so awkward all of a sudden?]
