( closed ) every tragedy divides
Who: Noctis & Raihan!
What: Two castles have become one, and their keepers are curious as to how they've come to be.
Where: the Hammerlocke Citadel Ruins
When: Late November.
Content Warnings: none!
[ though it seems a futile effort, Raihan often returns to the Hammerlocke Ruins in an attempt to try to clean things up - it's easier going with his Pokemon to lend a hand with the efforts, but the ever-present snow seems to pile up in just the same way it did the last time he tried to clear it, and the rubble doesn't give way to much that's worth discovering. the appearance of the new needle-bear creatures has made the going even more difficult, with their skittishness having left him with needles lodged into his hoodie on more than a couple of occasions.
today's visit, however, has brought something much more interesting than rubble and creepy bears with vacant expressions. he has to wonder if he's seeing things at first, but a quick rub to his eyes confirms that he's not hallucinating - the castle has drastically changed, now taking on a far more modern-looking exterior. flanking the stadium are what looks like two chromium skyscrapers, linked together by the familiar ruined crown spire and now sporting the broken wing towers on each side.
he isn't really sure what to think of it at first, really. he's definitely going to go inside to investigate, but right now he's just taking it in. the building looks just as ruinous as it did before this apparent new addition; it's still his gym, but he feels even less connected to it than he did before. it's... isolating, maybe. he doesn't really know how to feel about it, but the chill from the snow around him doesn't make it feel any less jarring. he's snapped out of his staring when his Rotom Phone hovers into his vision, asking if he'd like for it to start recording. ]
Yeah, take some footage - pictures, too. I wanna do some comparisons for later.
[ he begins his approach to the ruined drawbridge entrance, assuming he'll be alone once he enters. ]

[He had still been a distance off when he had noticed the profile was different, and that had drawn him closer. He hadn't been expecting to see the front facade of home towering above him, and he had spent more than a few minutes just gaping at it.]
[He's inside, now, picking through some of the rubble and trying to determine just how much of this place is his when he hears a footstep behind him, and he turns.]
Hello?
[He stops when he sees Raihan, offering him a crooked smile of greeting.]
Oh, hey.

Noct?
[ stepping forward into the light streaming from the holed ceiling helps to confirm his guess, and he smiles in return. he wasn't expecting anyone to be around, but someone he gets along with makes the surprise a pleasant one. ]
Fancy meeting you here! Usually I'm the only one mulling around these parts.

[He's just making sure he hasn't entirely missed something before now, since he isn't up here much.]

[ his eyes can't settle on one area of the lobby, taking in every detail he can of the new setting. the outside of the castle was different enough, but this... he doesn't really know what to make of it yet. the medieval Galarian architecture has clearly been fused with something more modern. ]
I know this castle like the back of my hand... or I did, anyway.
no subject
Yeah, uh... the stuff that you don't know? I probably do.

You're saying those skyscrapers are from where you come from?
[ he did say something about being familiar with royalty... they haven't actually had a chance to talk about it in depth yet, but the opulence of this interior definitely has a regal vibe to it. ]
no subject
Yeah, it's, um. My house. The Citadel.
[Now's probably the time they're going to talk about it.]
no subject
So you're the royal arsehole! You should've just said so in the first place!
[ names aside, the way Raihan is smirking shows that he isn't particularly put off by this new information. it's not like titles hold up much weight here, and he's more interested in the fact that Noctis is familiar with this place at all than the role he had in it. ]
Alright, your majesty - wanna explore this place with me? I bet we'd be able to map it out pretty well between the two of us.
no subject
Yeah, that's me.
[That was a suitable description back home, so yeah, he'll take it.]
Definitely. I don't think I knew this was here for you, actually.

[ it goes a lot deeper than that, but Raihan figures that saying as much is enough to get the point across. needless to say, he doesn't remember it being in frozen-over ruins - but there's no use in dwelling on it! he's had his time to mope, and now he's more interested in the new additions that the void seems to have decided to add.
he walks down the main hallway, lined by the frayed carpet as he looks around the much larger room. there are elements of the lobby still present, but it's almost unrecognizable. ]
Any stories behind these statues?
no subject
Most of them are of the other kings in my family line. If you wanna knows names and everything, Ignis could probably tell you a lot of them, but I just knew most of them as "great-grandpa".
[He flashes a smirk, entirely teasing. His family history is probably something he should care more about, but his lineage has, until recently, been something he's tried very hard not to think about.]
There's some of the Six around, too. Or there should be.
