[It would have been pointless to feed into it either way, it wasn't as if an answer was really being sought. It was clearly just to poke at Watanuki's expense for the outrageous claim.

No they don't. Stop clinging to this absurd notion. Kaiba would say they only met here because they both live in the same apartment building. There's nothing fantastical about it]

(not at all. after all, it takes work to make it work, but the problem with kaiba's answer is not his company, or even his success. there's no assumption that accomplishment and shallowness are interconnected within kimihiro.

[For a few moments Kaiba remains standing there just to serve as a source of annoyance but it doesn't seem to be working. Still, at least he decides when he'll leave instead of being told.

Everything was a purpose- he just failed to define it and went off on other tangents. His brother was everything to him. That and never being beholden to anyone else ever again
