I hate to say it, but if we go to Heavenly Blanc every time, they'd soon run out of alcohol. This one alone can drink more than you and me combined and squeak for more.

(it's a nag, but he scratches mugetsu's cute little ears as he does so. yokais are yokais at the end of the day. sake is important to them, and as it has been for the last few decades, for kimihiro too to a certain extent. he may not drink as much as the visitors to his shop do, but he certainly daily partakes in a much lesser intake - which is still off the charts. )

How may I call you?

How may you—oh. [What a weird way of putting it. That, and she's partly distracted by his companion.] Tifa Lockhart.

[She leans forward a little, to get a closer look at Mugetsu.]

And who's this fellow? He a Pokemon?

[Yes, because all weird-looking animals are Pokemon.]

[kimihiros]

His name is Mugetsu. He's a pipe fox spirit from where I'm from.

(assuming, of course, that there is no such thing where she comes from either. the only people who seem to recognize him are some of the japanese people who inhabit the void, much to the little fox's dismay.)

What's a Pokémon?

(he'd know if he talked to more people, easy, but as is... he stays most of the time at home or outside merlaut smoking.)

I think it's better to just see one for yourself.

[Tifa doesn't want to take the magic of meeting one for the first time away from him... that, and they're a little complicated to explain. Best he gets it from someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

She leans in a little closer again, and wiggles a finger at the creature.]

Well hello, Mugetsu! It's so nice to meet you and—?

[Her eyes drift up to the man holding him as she realizes she never got his name either.]

[kimihiros]

Kimihiro Watanuki. Just Watanuki is alright, Lockhart-san.

(with the amount of japanese people he has met, it feels right to assume she has heard the suffix at some point. mugetsu snakes towards the finger, booping with it's cute snout.

tifa seems to pose no danger, so the fox is quick to make the acquaintance.)

Well, in that case, just Tifa is fine too. No need to be so formal.

[People and their honourifics, man!

The sentiment is cut short when Mugetsu boops her finger with its nose, drawing a laugh out of Tifa.]

He's real friendly. What'd you say he was again?

[kimihiros]

He's a kudakitsune - a pipe fox spirit. They're familiars, to put it in a general light.

(and a lot can be said for that alone. mugetsu squeaks, snuggling against kimihiro's cheek. he is friendly and loving, but also, incredibly dangerous. the master is good, though, so whatever abilities mugetsu possesses are in check.)

A familiar...

[She's taken a keen interest in the little fox spirit, smiling fondly as she watches him snuggle against Kimihiro's cheek.]

Sorta like a summon?

[Not quite the same, but that's where her mind went first.]

[kimihiros]

I don't know what you mean by that, my apologies.

(He surely didn't summon Mugetsu. In fact, he found it a nuisance at first, how he seemed to follow him around when he was younger, tickling him and throwing him to the ground. Don't underestimate the small fox!)

[starshower]

[She points to the red materia in her glove.]

I can use this to summon Ifrit to come help me out when I'm in a pinch. Depends on the materia, though—different materia, different summons.

... Except Ifrit's not as cute as this one.

[kimihiros]

Oh, he's... Nothing of the sort? I have never summoned him.

(ifrit, like the genie in a lamp from Islamic culture, he wonders? it's not so much that he has never heard of it, more like he's impressed!)

He's a deity. Shinto religion has plenty of them.

[starshower]

I see... well, I'm glad you both have each other here!

[Having a friend that he's familiar with hopefully helped him settle in a little better...!

With their introduction out of the way though, Tifa's eyes wander back to the situation at hand that brought the two of them together in the first place.]

So, about the booze. Looking for anything specific?

[kimihiros]

Sake, miss.

(kimihiro gestures towards what he has, although the labels don't seem to do them any favors.

all scribbled out, without a single clue as to what sort of sake it should have been.)

I've noticed it just comes back after a while. It's a relief to know I'm not ruining your storage.

[starshower]

I think all the food does that, to be honest.

[Her face scrunches with thought, and a little bit of confusion.]

That, or someone's been restocking the fish and seaweed when I'm not looking. Either way, it's nice to know we aren't gonna have to live off batteries forever!

They must keep us fed anyway, since there's hunger.

(live off of batteries? he's expecting it to just be a joke, this is fine.)
