Despite the complicated logistics of transporting and keeping them aboard starships, stations, and colonies, they are popular throughout Citadel space.

(They headtilt. Is she inviting them to sit? After a moment, they do.)

[Aw, Legion's sitting with her. Tifa can't help but smile over at them, warmth and contentment radiating off of her. There's so much about them that she doesn't know—about their world and their way of life, and any time they're together in the same room, she can't help but let curiosity get the better of her.]

What's that even like? How'd they keep something this big way up there? I'd be so worried about it just floating off without any gravity to keep it down.

[People of Gaia don't space-travel that much...]

Artificial gravity is simple to maintain. Primary difficulties are related to the transportation and housing of large, heavy objects. Aboard many vessels, space is "at a premium".

(In other words, there's no danger of a piano floating away, keeping them is just even more expensive and inconvenient than it is on Earth, because instead of hiring movers to transport one from one house to another, you're going from one world to another. And on some of those worlds, a home with more than a single room is expensive.

Just imagine being on a crowded colony ship where you've got a limited storage space for transporting all of your family possessions to your new home? You gonna try to cram a Piano in there at the cost of not bringing more useful items, or are you gonna leave it behind?)

(They chatter.) In Citadel space, Pianos are commonly found in the dwellings of wealthy Humans and Asari, in public areas associated with wealth, and performing arts centers.

Huh, guess so. There're probably more important things to keep on a ship than a piano.

[Tifa heaves a whimsical sigh.]

... Still, it's kind of... I dunno, romantic? Thinking about listening to a piano while you're flying through the stars. Probably nothing like it is down here.

[This is just the Hopeless Romantic in her talking. One of her favourite past times is stargazing, back when she could see them in Nibelheim, so the thought of being completely surrounded by them is something that could only happen in dreams.]

I'd love to go up there sometime... See what it's like. Maybe play a little song.

It is not.

(Not anything like it is down here, that is.)

The experience depends on location. On most ships, space is minimal. There is little in the way of nonsapient organic life--resources and space are often insufficient to sustain it. Food is also limited: shelf life, ease of storage, and nutrition are prioritized over taste. On larger stations, it is similar, with access to space, ownership of nonsapient lifeforms, and higher quality foods being limited to the wealthy.

Right... so not that different from a lot of places.

[The latter part especially reminding her of way of life in Midgar. All of the best of the best being limited to the wealthiest top percentage while the others are left with scraps.]

Must be a lot of canned foods up there, huh? Restaurants and bars not really a thing?

Restaurants and bars are common in larger settlemts.

(Not that this means that canned and preserved foods aren't the most common things up there.

The restaurants and bars aren't necessarily quality.)

[Opening up a restaurant or bar in space sounds like something straight out of a dream... and she giggles to herself at the prospect of having Seventh Heaven in what could literally be "heaven", but that's a dorky thought to share for later.]

Sorry, I've got about a hundred more questions for you about what life's like up there.

[It's nice to be able to learn about the kind of world that Legion is from, too. And learn more about them and their race as well.]

I've got one more for you right now: you know how to play any instruments?

(Other people have had similar ideas, and there's at least one bar with a similarly themed name out there among the stars.)

[Although she doesn't sound or look too disappointed by the news, but it would've been neat to see it!]

Thought it could've been programmed in or something! You are pretty impressive as it is, after all.

Our primary purpose was to perform missions in organic space. The nature of these missions required capabilities related to stealth, combat, and diplomacy, the ability to achieve consensus without the input of the collective. The operation of musical instruments does not fall into these catagories.

(So no, they wouldn't have that built in.)

Well, this isn't space as far as I can tell. No missions to perform here.

[Although something like a mission would be nice, if only to give those of them who are busybodies something else to do when they get antsy.]

No better time to learn than now.

(...Maybe not the kind of missions Legion is thinking of.

[Tifa's smile brightens.]

I'd love to, if you'll let me!

[There are some others in the Void who likely know how to play the piano, but she wouldn't turn down the opportunity for someone else to learn from her if they'd like.]

Once you get the basics down, it's nice to just sit and play.

(There's ... a small problem with that.

A small problem that should become more readily apparent when they hold up their hands. They only have six fingers total, you see (including thumbs). It's not like this makes play impossible, but it's a pretty big limitation to get around.)

Our ability is limited.

[starshower]

[Tifa has certainly noticed the lack of fingers, but that doesn't seem to dampen her spirits. If anything, it lifts them further.]

Only limit is the one you put on yourself.

[She playfully waggles her own finger at Legion, and then demonstrates on the piano, using only six of her own to play a tune. It's simpler than the one she had going earlier, but it's a pleasant melody nonetheless.]

(She is correct. However, it is something that needs to be considered, so that songs and methods could be adjusted.

After a moment of consideration, if she'll let them, they reach out and play an exact mimicry of what she showed them.)
