Tifa looks down at the laptop, and then back up at him, question after question flashing in the confusion in her gaze.]

Wait, why wouldn't you—? Hang on... Why'd it end up with me? Seems a little unfair, doesn't it?

[Damien takes a moment to consider that, before ultimately shrugging]

That we both woke up to something suggests that the Void was trying to suck up to us. ['us' in the latter case being everyone else here, not just the two of them. this also works on the assumption that the weird little orb he woke up to belongs to someone else] But it's also not terribly intelligent. [as is evidenced that it can't quite figure out how electricity works] So, maybe it got the recipients all wrong?

[Of all the things Tifa could have woken up to...

At least she didn't have an aircraft shoved into her apartment??? Silver lining...]

So, you got one too... [she concludes.] Wonder if that means someone ended up with something of mine. Not that I've got much, but... [Her voice trails off, and there's some sadness on the edges of her words.] Anyway! Maybe next time, don't throw your laptop in the river, yeah?

Throwing it in the lake wasn't exactly my idea in the first place. But. [but anyway. he takes a moment, juggling the orb he woke up to, so he can take the laptop from Tifa, albeit gingerly. he doesn't want to end up soaked]

But if you were planning on going to see if someone does have something of yours ... [he shrugs] Give me a minute to set this down? [potentially in the sink. then he'll come with her, to help her look]

Uh, right.

[She's particularly careful as she hands his laptop off to him, the questions she still has written across her face as she looks down at the damp keyboard. Maybe she'll save them for another time, though... They're less questions about what happened here this morning and more about Damien's life before the Void, so.]

Hopefully it's not as bad for them as it was for me.

[it's no big deal, really. he was just being held hostage by a fixer, who threw the laptop into the lake so he couldn't use it against him. no big deal]

Guess we'll find out. [a beat] I'll be right back. [and then he'll just duck into his room with the laptop and come back without, so they can be on their way]
