Volleyball League Practice Catch-all

Who: primarily those who signed up to participate in the Void’s new volleyball league, but anyone and everyone is welcome!
What: volleyball practice for the new Void volleyball league

((ooc: this log is gonna be used for a few practice sessions, as well as a practice game and other such things! Iwaizumi will be sharing his knowledge with everyone and acting as a coach of sorts until the practice game, so feel free to use the TLs to interact with him, or make your own TLs under the sections to start your own threads with your teammates or others participating! also, if you are not a player but want to be in the audience or are playing another role, feel free to make TLs reflecting that! everyone is welcome (walk/ins included!) [Iwa would probably shoot him a disapproving look at the least if he did. He can’t help but wrinkle his nose just a little at the indication Kimihiro might be about to fill the room with smoke.]

You know, I want to say that’s bad for you, but here...[He shrugs.] Who knows, right?

You sure seem to like it either way. Does it feel the same?

I don't normally age and if the injury is physical, it heals.

(read: he doesn't care that much. he'd definitely be dead by now if he were any normal, but he isn't. it's fine.

It's... Emotional rather than physical, I suppose. You'd find it very out of place had you met me a few decades ago.

Makes sense I guess. [It’s easy to place that Kimihiro is sentimental about the thing, but Iwaizumi isn’t really one to pry about that sort of thing without reason.]

It looks nice, not that that’s really my thing.

I hated it at first, but I grew accustomed to it. The original store owner smoked it more than I do.

(forgive him if he looks a little nostalgic, but either way, the pipe is cleaned and he refrains from using it for now. he usually spends a long time outside because of it, though.)

[Well, this is...awkward - awkward and sad. Iwa’s never really had any sort of loss like that in his life ~~except for nationals rip nationals~~, so he can’t really relate, but if he’s waiting for her to come back, then maybe...?]

Does that, uh...does that happen pretty often...where you’re from? People...coming back?

Not really, but time stopping isn't very common either, and yet.

(by a miracle, the kettle starts whistling - tea time. it's with much love and care that he pours and prepares it.)

Both of us had the same fate there. Communicating with the other side was never an issue for me, but still, I can't find her anywhere.

(as known as he will never leave the shop if it does appear. simple as that. kimihiro pours both cups and back to the center table he is, setting it in front of iwai before he takes his own to his lips.)

I made a promise to wait in the shop for her, so I would like to return to it, even if it's here. Considering I have no idea how to go home unpowered like this, seems like the second choice.

[Iwaizumi frowns a little at the implication, electing to take a sip of his tea before he jumps directly into lecturing a guy he barely knows. He can’t help himself though - confining yourself to one place just doesn’t seem healthy, especially considering the circumstances (even he makes himself leave the would be Aoba Johsai gym sometimes).]

Wait in the shop like how? You’ve got to at least go home to sleep, right? [Right?]

It's a house. I've been living there for a little more than a century.

(because well, he did kind of live there when yuuko was around. it can even be argued that it's the only home he has known, considering his lack of memories of his parents and his orphan status.)

Okay, so you live there, but do you ever leave? [Why does it sound like he never leaves?] Like ever?

[Or does he, being a 100 year old ghost or whatever he is?]

It was payment for a wish of mine.

Okay, but that wouldn’t be true here, right?

I don't know. It's a big part as to why it shocks me I even am here to begin with.

(he takes a sip of the tea, finally, holding it delicately with both hands.)

I usually have Doumeki do things outside for me. I'm not used to this anymore.

Who? [Some other bizarre creature that either drinks heavily, transfers people through dimensions, or both, he has no doubt.] Either way, it must be nice to be able to get out and about now at least, right?

[Please say “right”. He’s concerned.]

Doumeki is a pain in the ass who went to high school with me. His great grandson runs my errands now after he passed.

(it's said with mild annoyance, but some tenderness hides behind it, in his eyes. the heavily drinking is definitely accurate there, though!)

[Not that he’s not all about keeping your word - he is - but come on??? He huffs a little. Why it bothers him so much, he’s not sure, but...]

One hell of a promise. [He’s grumbling a little.] What kind of person would confine you to one place like that just for a wish?

(he doesn't expect iwai to understand.

the universe asks for a price, powers don't rely on nothing. to kimihiro, this payment is worth it.)

I could see ghosts and I was constantly harassed by them when I was your age. I part-timed at the shop so that eventually, I had enough work put in and Yuuko-san could free me of such ability. When she left, she made my wish come true. I decided to inherit the shop to wait for her, and to do that, I needed my abilities. I traded it for being able to leave.

(full circle. didn't he tell iwaizumi he would be freaked out very easily when he was young? there is the reason why. )

[Iwaizumi can’t help but feel a bit of tightness in his chest at the explanation. He doesn’t know Kimihiro that well, but he knows with that explanation that he’s probably been through more than Iwaizumi can well imagine, and that just sits heavily on him for some reason. He takes another sip of his tea, frowning as he does so. What could he even say to that?]

You’re a dedicated guy, Kimihiro.

I guess that’s not a bad thing.

[He still doesn’t think he should spend all his time sitting around one place waiting for something that it looks like won’t come, but who is he to judge, right? He makes a mental note to get him out of the shop every once in a while if it does show up though.]

Thanks for the tea, but you should probably sleep, right? You were pretty passed out back there.

(kimihiro has been through more things than he dares to attempt to explain. from being a time paradox, to having his eye eaten by a spider spirit, he has his fair share of sorrow, confusion and upsetness, all still swimming inside him for the past decades. yuuko is the deepest wound, as one can imagine.

he doesn't know what to say to the compliment, so he just waves a hand. he's nothing much, he reckons.)

I'm fine, Iwaizumi. It happens sometimes, the world mistaking when I should sleep.

(and by now, they can probably hear the little snoring squeaks mugetsu makes. that one is deep asleep.)

He's been less anxious, at least. I guess he came to the conclusion people here don't mean harm.

Yeah, well. I don’t, at least. [He vaguely hopes Kimihiro will believe that.

[He briefly considers not adding what he’s about to, but...at the end of the day, he can’t help himself. Something about this conversation has ignited the impulse to care about Kimihiro, and once that emotion rears its head for Iwaizumi, it becomes hard to ignore.]

Not that I think you’ll accept this, but if you need anything around here, just...let me know, okay?

[He’s grumbling a bit as he says it, but it’s the thought that counts, right?]

(kimihiro believes it. he's not a person who fears things that can harm him, much to the contrary, he has a track record of inviting it. either way, he perceives no ill intent from iwaizumi in any way.

he is, however, not one to see the offering well. the older man just shakes his head, taking the last of his tea to his lips.)

If my store shows, I may as well. As it is, don't worry about me.

Yeah, well. [He rolls his eyes a bit. Somehow he figured that offer wouldn’t go over too well.] If the shop shows then, do.

[He takes the last sip of his own tea then and takes a stand, picking his gym bag up from off the ground and hiking it up on his shoulder.]

I gotta get going. And you gotta get to sleep. [He says with a pointed look.] Take a page from Mugetsu’s book. I’ll be seeing you.

[That’s a threat.]
