cleaning - merlaut apartments

( Arashi's been thinking, and she chatted about it with a few people too, but after cleaning her apartment with some help from Haru and settling in — she has Decided. No one should have to go through the same awful scrubbing they did, especially after just finding themselves somewhere new and confusing!!

Thus, armed with some (cleaned-up) cleaning supplies she found on the beach, she's knocking very politely on every door of Merlaut Apartments; if there's no reply but the door is locked, she moves on, and if there's no reply but it's unlocked, she's going in. Hope you lock your doors regularly!! Or are in to answer!!! Granted, she'll give a quick peek around and if it's not too bad, she'll head off, but if you're the messy type... She might at least pick things up a little. This is a call-out post for Leo Tsukinaga specifically.

As for empty rooms: they're definitely getting some elbow grease to look better. Out with the green sludge, in with the fresh flowers, pre-packaged food and drink, and cleanliness. Give her some assistance, or catch her at her newfound job... or when she's taking a break, frowning at how gross she's getting. She doesn't like sweating for no reason, but really, no one should have to deal with that when they move in. )

[ cleaning every room in the Merlaut (or at least as many as possible) is a valiant effort, and one that Raihan absolutely agrees with! a well-manicured persona is important, and one's living space can reflect what sort of person they are in social interactions. while he doesn't particularly plan on having any company in his room anytime soon, you should always be ready to receive a guest, and that means not having sludge in your sink at bare minimum.

this is one of several things that Arashi will see upon entering his unlocked room - it appears to be quite tidy, aside from a garbage can that could stand to be emptied and a fridge that seems a bit too packed for one person. that said, the cleanliness of the room probably comes second to what else is in the room - next to the bookcase is a large, turtle-like creature, eyes closed and snoring quietly. it hasn't stirred from Arashi's knocking, nor from her entrance into the room, but that could change... ]

( OHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh she's been doing pretty well at not being too freaked out about the things she encounters here - it's called Not Thinking Too Hard About It - but this thing is both asleep and alone, so Arash's going to give herself the chance to pause and watch it for a few moments before deciding it's... probably pretty heavily asleep, and she's not going to be here that long, so it's probably okay! It'll be just fine.

Also, it's probably someone's pet. It's probably nice. A lot of probably-s happening today.

She'll set to work trying to be as quiet as possible, keeping an eye on the turtle-like creature between taking out the trash and... okay, she's not touching anything in the fridge - it's too much for one person, but they're probably sharing it with their fire-colored friend here - but she does, sort of

shut the fridge door a little too harder, forgetting that even if they're all shined up and looking nice, these are still Cheap-Ass Fridges and will act like Cheap-Ass Fridges.

[ Not Thinking Too Hard About It is an excellent coping mechanism that Raihan has also implemented towards things that he finds particularly bizarre, so they can at least relate with that much. unfortunately, he isn't around to share that sentiment - he's stepped out to grab a tea to go from the Heavenly Blanc, and couldn't bring himself to wake up Turtonator from his nap. now he stands here, acting as the world's worst security guard... not that there's anything particularly worth protecting in the room to begin with.

and while Turtonator loves his naps, he's not a very deep sleeper. the sound of the drinks in the fridge's door shelf rattle a bit when it closes, stirring the Fire-type out of his sleep. surely that must mean Raihan is back... he snorts gently, his eyes creaking open to look up and greet him--

oh. that's not Raihan. ]

( WHOOPS.

Arashi raises her hands in the universal sign of I Come In Peace, her smile a little nervous but present. )

Well hel-lo there! Sorry for the intrusion - I'm like, just cleaning! ( not a thief... not anyone sus... just your friendly neighborhood idol!! ) I was going to just do whatever empty rooms we had but like, not everyone likes picking up after themselves either, soooo I thought - just like, to keep busy, you know? - I would just clean everyone's room! Or try to.

( ...She honestly feels very silly explaining herself to an animal but she feels like she has to at the same time!? )

[ cleaning... likely story! this human is almost certainly a thief, looking to pilfer one of his Trainer's prized possessions. sleepy as he is, he can't just let this human leave without a little interrogation - what if they've already taken something? surely a bit of intimidation is in order, but not too much. it's not as if he can use his fire attacks, and Raihan had told him to take it easy until they figured out why.

he simply narrows his eyes, letting out a low, slightly threatening rumble as he takes a step forward. chasing them out would probably be ideal... he's not sure when Raihan will be back, but he'll be sure to stay awake until then. ]

( ooooooooooookay, negotiations are breaking down... if they had a chance at happening at all. Arashi's smile widens a little more nervously as she keeps her hands raised, taking slow steps out of the room. )

...I'll leave, don't worry. Your room's wonderfully kept! I like, appreciate the hustle, really. ( the less work she has to do the better. ) It was... totally nice meeting you, really! Good to know who your neighbors are and all of that — hope we can meet again under less suspicious circumstances, see you later—

( and she'll go head out now, bye, please don't strike while her back is turned, that's not very noble of you—

oof. she's bumping into someone, isn't she. )

[ it really is a shame that Turtonator was Arashi's first introduction to Raihan's dragons - it's not that he's unfriendly, but he's certainly one of the most intimidating of his brood. Goodra likely would have been more open to listening to reason, but it's too late now! the intruder is leaving, and Turtonator is very proud of his guard work... even if he fell asleep during most of it. it worked out in the end, and that's that.

...or it would be, if the "assailant" wasn't bumping into the very owner of the room! Turtonator looks more awake now, admittedly interested in what might come next. ]

Woah! Sorry about that- [ he starts, taking a slight step back... wait. politeness aside, this is his room that a stranger is coming out of. it's not like there's anything in his room that's a) worth stealing, or b) can't defend itself from intruders, so this is a bit perplexing. ]

Not sure what you were doing in my room, but I hope Turtonator didn't give you too much of a fright. [ he looks behind Arashi to the Pokémon, raising an eyebrow in curiousity before returning his eyes to her in questioning. ] Unless he had reason to...

[ his questioning is gentle, not quite accusatory just yet. he'll wait for the full story... if there is one. ]

Oh, no, not at all! It's just, like...

( ..."i'm going into every room as long as it's unlocked or the occupant lets me in to clean it" wow that sounds so convincing. but it's the truth!! so arashi, caught between her rock and a hard place (or a dragon and a very cute boy), waves a hand very much in a "please don't mind it way" )

I was giving every room a check-up, that's all. You know, cleaning it if it needed cleaning, or a little picking up... We have some like, totally gross rooms in this place, right? It's such a shame that when people show up, they've only got some icky room to stay in... So like, I thought I'd just clean 'em up a little so other people don't have to. ( ........ ) And I like, figured I could offer the same to anyone else here too, just in case they're not the type who likes cleaning. No time like the present to get familiar, right?

[ he patiently waits for Arashi to explain herself, eyebrow raising slightly in interest. so she's going around and cleaning rooms, huh... that's actually a pretty thoughtful thing to do, considering the state that they were found in before their occupants had settled in - hell, some of them were still like that after being settled in. though his first instinct is to be skeptical, the way Arashi explains it does seem quite earnest.

he hums thoughtfully before his eyes look over her shoulder to Turtonator, who isn't really sure what to make of the situation. ] Oi. Does that check out?

[ the shelled dragon gives a huff through his snout, looking around the room. as much as their unwelcome guest had put him off, it doesn't seem like anything was stolen or messed up... and the trash was taken out, now that he looks at it. Raihan notices it as well, and lets out a short chuckle of understanding. ]

Well, that's good enough for me! You don't strike me as the type of person that would lie about something like this, so I'm gonna take your word... for now. [ he grins. he's joking... mostly. ] Gesture's appreciated, in any case.
