I know just the thing.

(Ren gestures for Zack to sit - wherever he'd like, really, while he goes behind the counter and washes his hands. The coffee doesn't take too long to brew, all his movements automatic like he owns the place.

Perhaps, here, he kind of does. All the cafe parts are a part of the cafe he both works and lives in, after all.)

[Zack smiles and takes a seat where he can still have a good chat with the barista. Coffee really is an art, Zack wouldn't be very good at it if he ever tried. He appreciates people who know how to handle it properly.]

I could never figure coffee out myself, I always just order in or use some of that instant stuff in a jar.

[Awful, right??]

(It's all thanks to Sojiro, the owner of the establishment in Tokyo. It took him a while to warm up to Ren, but eventually...)

(PLEASE NO INSTANT COFFEE. IT MAKES REN SAD.

Zack is presented with a perfect cup of coffee, and Ren, as per usual, takes a cup for himself.)

I might have to make a habit of that too. This smells great.

[More than just beers here!

Zack is grinning when he receives his mug of perfect coffee. The aroma of coffee beans is nice and strong just like Zack likes it. He only adds a little creamer. That's it. When he takes a good first taste Zack does let out a satisfied sigh.]

Damn, it's strong. If this doesn't wake me up I don't know what will.

[He likes it!!]

(There's satisfaction in knowing he picked the right one! After all, there are several blends and different combinations in the store that would produce just as strong a coffee, but he feels like he nailed his choice with it.

Ren smiles after a sip.)

We have our schedule on the wall.

(It's just a little paper with what shifts are first or second on the day, which now makes more sense. Thank God for time!!)

It's only coffee when it's just me.

[Zack takes a few more grateful sips of the coffee, enjoying how the bitter caffeine feels on his tongue. This is going to make him feel halfway to human and he's happy for that.

He takes a quick glance over at the schedule on the wall and nods. Seeing everyone's name up there really does remind him how much of a little community they're all making here. Void aside.]

Got it, you're the coffee guy. [He grins.] Where'd you learn to make great coffee? Isn't it kind of like an art in itself?

My legal guardian owns the cafe.

(Or, the parts of Seventh Heaven Zack wouldn't recognize. Sojiro tends to LeBlanc with love and care, and he has taught Ren everything he can about customer service and the inner workings of a great cup of coffee, along with a suitable plate of curry.

[Zack can be a very food motivated person, he's always hungry.]

And yeah! What's on the menu?

[Give him some of this curry, he's never had curry before!]

(There's only a smile from Ren to the first comment. While Sojiro is not blood related to him in any way, he was certainly a very strong father figure. To the last comment, the smile grows even bigger!)

Something you've never had.

(Because surprise! He has had this conversation with both Aerith and Tifa before. He knows there is no such food in Midgar. To go along with the coffee, thankfully he has some on the stove - with yogurt as a secret item, to add richness, acidity and a little bit of sweetness to the dish, balancing out the spice level. Should work wonders with the coffee he has given Zack!)

This is curry. (He explains, setting the plate for the other and gently placing it in front of him.) I hope you like it.

Holy shit-

[Excuse his potty mouth! The dish that is being presented to him smells amazing. It looks amazing too. This creamy looking sauce and chunky bits. That mild spicy aroma smells fantastic.]

It looks great!

[Not really knowing that curry is a staple! But he digs in with a spoonful. That that hits his tastebuds like a truck.]

Is- [Mouthful.] it's good! Really good!

(The reaction grants Zack a burst of very genuine laughter like he wasn't expecting it... But he's so glad that the other enjoyed curry that much, to the point that all his manners went out the window. Ren is actually a little endeared???)

Now sip on the coffee.

(The flavors should compliment one another to perfection.)
