There's nothing to say.

(Because there are no answers for him to give, after all. All he knows has already been said, and he doubts that Damien is too interested in what happened with him back home. After all, he's seen the arrest, the bullet between his eyes, as Akechi had told him.

Metaverse craziness, someone to take out of a place of power, jail... Just #NormalRenThings.)

[you'd be surprised, Ren. he's seen things, sure, but he's always, always insatiably curious]

[he's also willing to let it go, however, if only because he still doesn't want to think too hard about the potential for going home. that in mind, then, he takes another sip of his coffee, before:] You're both alright, though?

[just because they handled things doesn't mean they're okay]

We're fine.

(Surprisingly so. Ren thought he'd lost Akechi again, but apparently, just like him, the man can survive anything and everything.)

I'm still checking on everyone.

(A sign of life - tell them he's alright. Apparently, many people worried and searched for them... He's upset that he's caused such turmoil.)

[he frowns a little, the 'we' there niggling at him just as much as Ren telling him the Void sent him and Akechi both home did. just as much as him telling him everything was 'fixed' did. as far as he knows, Akechi dies at some point, back home. he wouldn't consider that fixed -- or fine. not unless something happened, beyond that. not unless Akechi didn't really die, just thought he did, or something]

[he's not entirely sure how to phrase any of that, though, and so he's silent, studying Ren as he stews over his coffee, trying to find his words]

My boy -- [he starts, stops, starts again] -- I know that he dies, back home. [please explain or correct him or something]

[forethinking]

I thought so, too.

(And he's still digesting it, to be honest. Over and over again, he keeps losing Akechi, slipping through his fingers. He has seen it happen, fought and confronted him about it while they were fighting the next threat back home.)

He survives. (And without external help, as they'd thought.) That man is a force of nature.

[Damien stares at him for a moment, then lets out a bark of a laugh, the sound surprised, delighted. he can't help but smile, when he recovers, though there's something a little sad behind his eyes. he's glad Akechi made it out, but -- well, he still doesn't think he'll get so lucky]

Good. [a beat] Good.

[that's his boy]

(Ren didn't know back home, only acquiring this information once he has returned to the Void. They were in different facilities, after all, there was no way for contact to be established.

Much like Damien, Ren is proudly smiling at the situation. Akechi continues to surprise him, always staying true to himself with his determination and passion towards his own goals. A force of nature, indeed. With a sip of his coffee, Ren nods.)

He's fine.

[Damien just hums and continues to look pleased for several seconds, before slowly, reluctantly, his expression falls] I should probably let you get back to receiving guests. [since he said he was still trying to catch up with everyone. and hey, it gives him an excuse to leave, to go look for Akechi, himself]
