 So, random thought: do you think this place is listening to us talk to each other like this? I mean, something here is alive, right? You suddenly get magical veins pulsing everywhere that somehow give us telepathy, plus the fact that there's a bloody beating heart underground!  I don't know about you, but I bet it's all connected somehow. It's got to be!

[ he sounds certain, but just as quickly as his thought ends, another, more lighthearted one follows. this doesn't have to be a Pepe Silvia situation, and he doesn't want it to be. ]

...Either that, or I'm going completely mad. But on the off chance I'm not and my natural genius is leading to some wild breakthrough, humour me for a sec - what would you want to say if you could talk to it directly? [ and before anyone has the chance to answer, he adds- ] And no "Take me home!", 'cuz that's too obvious. 

[ everyone wants to go home. he's pretty sure that's been made abundantly clear by now... or at least he hopes it has. ]

Exactly! Getting all of us to coordinate like a brain could be a different beast, but I wouldn't mind giving it a shot.

[ it's not as if they have anything to lose, right? as the world learns from everyone, everyone is learning about the world, too. if it really is alive, it can't be completely random. ]

Getting on its good side would probably be a good place to start. Earning trust is usually a good first step to cooperation. [ "do our bidding" sounds a little harsh, but that's technically the goal... ]

Kinda hard to pull it off when we can't even tell if it trusts us or not. But giving us back ways to tell time like dates and day/night cycles is a start I guess.

Just wondering where we'll go from here, is all.

I guess we'll just have to throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. Obviously it's learning from us somehow, so we just need to figure out how it thinks about stuff!

[ which is, of course, a monumentous task that he has no idea how to actually tackle. but he's not about to be a negative Nickit about it. ]

Dunno. But if the void is gonna insist on keeping us here, I wanna see what we can do to make it a better place to be for the time being. It's not exactly an answer, but I think it's all we've got 'till it decides to spit us back out where we came from.
