[ Turing was now past the point of thinking that their friends were just out and about. For the next couple of days they could be found going from place to place, regardless of the danger or their own personal dislike for large bodies of water. Any attempts to engage at that point would only result in a hurried greeting before they rushed off to their next destination.
Mt. Silver was their last stop. They had rushed into the mountain before when they first arrived, but this time there was no Blue to help them out if they got into a tight spot. Thankfully they weren't going to the summit, but the Hammerhead Citadel Ruins were no less cold. The truth was that they had stayed away from the colder parts of the mountain (being cold was surprisingly unpleasant), so the castle that was hiding there was a surprise, to put it simply.
Turing explored every area with a fine-tooth comb; maybe someone they knew was hiding out here. That was very unlikely, but they were happy to grasp at any straws they could instead of acknowledging a different possibility. Then, they finally stumbled upon the names, both crossed out and not, on the back of that lonely throne. There was only one explanation why they hadn't seen their friends in so long and why those same names were crossed out.
Would people keep disappearing until they were all alone in this place? ]
[Said a familiar and likely irritating voice to the present company. Kaiba had found a wall to lean against with his arms crossed over his chest.]
It's curious isn't it. This ridiculous throne is keeping track of any and all that pass either into this world or out of it.
[It's like a members list. There are plenty of names scratched out on there that he had personal interactions with. Among them there were only a few standouts that he cared all that much about. Thankfully, the person he was searching for still on the back of the chair. Just don't question why Kaiba's here Turing.]
[ Turing slowly reached out to touch the names of their friends. Right now, that was the only way they could feel even a little closer to those people. That also meant that Kaiba's words went in one ear and out the other, but...that might have happened either way, to be honest. ]
[The response Kaiba received was delayed and lacking for content, not that the latter was all that peculiar as Turing tried to speak to him as little as possible as it was. .. And people say that I'm the one that holds grudges. Despite the fact that Kaiba did indeed hold grudges it was only against a select few and in usually didn't involve completely writing a person or thing off, I mean Pegasus had stolen his soul and stuffed it inside a trading card once and now they were allies in business... so....
All that aside, it wasn't difficult to surmise that the robot was lamenting the loss of those who had been close to him that were no longer residing in the Void. They'd returned to wherever they originally hailed from without leaving so much as to a clue how those left behind could follow. ]
Why? [Kaiba casually repeated the question that could have referred to a myriad of subjects. 'Why did so-and-so have to leave?', 'why are we still here?', 'why does this stupid throne have everyone's names etched onto the back?'. 'Why is this a curious element when there are so many other things in the void that make just as little sense?'] You're asking me? I can't figure out anything about this place. [He admitted with a shrug, as much as he hated to.] If whoever is behind this already knows our names in order to accurately add and remove them it hints at premeditation as to who gets dumped in here.
[ Turing looked over their shoulder and was instantly convinced that they wouldn't get what they really wanted in that moment. Then again, did they even want that from Kaiba, of all people? In response to that realization, they sat down in front of the chair and hugged their legs. For many, many reasons, they didn't want to show much vulnerability, if any, but they had to soothe themselves if there was going to be any chance of that. ]
...Does the culprit think so little of us that they think leaving this information out in the open won't matter?
[Hadn't that prospect always been slim from Kaiba. He rarely said or did anything that appeased or comforted others, it just wasn't a part of his nature. The response he received prompted a smirk.]
I don't think that's it at all. It's not that they think so little of us but so highly of themselves. [The way he spoke it was if it was from some past experience, like if he was the one calling the shots he might also be so confident.] It's arrogance, pure and simple. They must think that no matter what we're provided with that they are so far beyond our understanding that they will never have to face any consequences for screwing around with our lives.
[Or they were idiots. They could still be idiots]
[The message that Turing's body language was projecting didn't seem to have an affect on the current audience which could only have been to the robot's benefit. There would be no belittling for the show of weakness]
