[Akechi had, strangely enough, been enjoying himself in Ren's room like this; sure, he'd made a snide remark about how if Ren wanted to be outside so much, he should just go out there instead of bringing all this clutter inside. But it's peaceful to just sit with someone, occasionally remarking aloud about an interesting point he'd read, but otherwise being in companionable silence.

So of course it had to be broken, but at least Ren's the one doing it. Akechi looks up from the book, incredulous, and it takes a few seconds for him to realize what Ren's referencing. Once he does, of course, he frowns.]

After the stunt you pulled the first time? You should count yourself lucky I didn't break your fingers back then.

(Not that he knew Akechi actually would... Back then... But it was hilarious to see either way and the more Akechi shows his true colors now, the funnier that memory gets.)

There are barely any knots.

(Half-true. It's curly, of course there are knots, but at least one would have to go looking for them.)

[He shakes his head and picks up his book again. If Ren thought he was offering to comb them out for him, he has another thing coming!]

(There's almost disbelief, specially since Akechi is supposedly someone who Knows So Much About This Kind of Thing.)

[Yes, Ren! Looking up information on his own hair care meant unfortunately he ended up learning about other types as well!! Which is why he isn't attacking it with a comb right now.]

That's no excuse for not making sure it's not knotted.

(In Ren's defense, it's hard to keep knots away from it for too long! Even if he tried harder...)

What would you do about instead?

(Because clearly, Ren never opened Google about that.)

Use a decent conditioner formulated for curly hair, to start.

[He sets the book down and leans forward, hands between his knees as he shakes his head.]

Comb them out with your fingers whenever you find a knot. Don't just leave them.

Anyhow. It's nice to have written all this.

(He doesn't think Akechi looked back too much on Ren's journal when he had the chance, but should he have, he'd find the owner's thoughts through the last months, including on himself and their dates. Encounters. Whatever.)
