"I'm more concerned with the stress that's going to be applied to this support."
Eying one of poles that had already been anchored. Giving it a not-so-gentle shove he grimaced when it shifted a few centimeters. It wasn't something that Legion had personally touched, which was probably why it was substandard- in Kaiba's opinion.
Getting him to take a rest might have been the more daunting task.
".. but don't let me stop you from taking a break. You've earned it."
no subject
They come to take a closer look at the pole.
"This construction is inadequate."
If it shifts that easily, the structure isn't going to hold up to use. It will need to be strengthened.
They shake their head, as though clearing it.
"This is not the topic we wished to discuss. Breaks are required for efficient functioning. Will Kaiba-Seto join us?"
no subject
"Yeah- well Kaiba-Seto has to oversee this work."
For once not correcting the arrangement of his name, and even going so far as to use it that way himself. As a perfectionist, it was incredibly difficult for him to know when to call it quits. He was used to pushing himself, even when it was foolish to do so.
"Exactly my point."
How he longed to knock that pole completely out of place, and yell at someone to do it again!, but again- mostly unskilled volunteers. He was notably surprised when the break subject resurfaced.
"You've clearly never seen me on a regular work day- I'll remain until the job is done." (Presumably he means for the day and not in it's entirety.)
It was usually his younger brother that had to insist on him taking semi-regular breaks, but he wasn't here. Even then sometimes Kaiba remained stubborn-
no subject
They've fought with stubborn allies before though. Perhaps, this time, compromise is the better option.
"Suggestion: breaks are not required for consumption of sustenance."
Or, in other words, will he at least eat something?
no subject
He commented offhandedly, not giving any indication that he was going to capitulate.
"Eating in front of the workforce can be demoralizing, leading to decreased production."
Or in other words, no. If he kept up at his rate, the hunger would later surprise him and be overwhelming. Legion was right to suggest that he take care of himself.
no subject
Hunger here doesn't work like it's supposed to, after all.
They look around, considering.
"This condition is likely to impact the entire workforce."
Imagine, if you will, Kaiba and everyone else squirming on the ground, unable to move because of hunger.
no subject
The reminder frustrated him because he knew the validity of it firsthand.
He can just tell that Legion is gearing up for his next rebuttal and honestly the distractions are making it hard to focus on much else.
"How do you figure? They're welcome to leave whenever they wish." Just pointing that little tidbit out, before he reluctantly showed signs of relenting. "Look, if I agree to take a short break will you let me get back to my work?"
no subject
Even when their work is largely useless. In Legion's opinion, it probably would have been better to educate them on proper procedure prior to starting, perhaps test their skills and allocate tasks according to ability.
Their eye flicks in the direction of a nearby structure, analyzing it for weaknesses, of which it possesses many.
"Yes."
no subject
That had been the intention, those with the appropriate skills would be given the tasks they were suited for, however that didn't prevent the overly enthusiastic from taking matters into their own hands, that's why the inspections were highly necessary. Besides, there weren't enough people here to choose from that had prior knowledge of construction so some setbacks were unavoidable.
"..." For a moment he just stared at Legion, debating whether to keep up with his stubborn refusal but instead he relented. " F I N E... I just hope that the whole thing doesn't fall apart while I'm gone."
no subject
"Affirmative." Probably for the best to give in, not really a good idea to try to out stubborn a robot.
They hold out some food in offering. They've got sushi. And also water.
