What: After a conversation with Damien about how inaccessible some locations are, Kaiba decides to take it upon himself to rectify the situation. This is also a catchall for this project!
Where: Cave System all the way to Wall Market

OOC: Since there seemed to be plenty of interest on plurk for helping Damien out, I decided to make this more open. If any of you have other ideas you'd like to put out there feel free to top-level! Then people can just tag around to whatever they wish! Have fun!

Have you come to any decisions on materials yet? I would think to suggest wood, yet I suspect we have not the appropriate tools.

I have, and you'd be surprised what you can accomplish with basic tools.

Actually I was leaning towards wood myself, it's the most abundant resource with the myriad of forested land. It's going to be tedious work but not impossible with all the metal objects collected from the beach.

In order to create this final helical ramp, a crane can be rigged up using the surrounding terrain, this column here... [Pointing to a geologic feature he bothered to note.] is in a prime position. Tedious indeed, for I doubt many here have much experience with carpentry. Carpentry with untrained labour, using rudimentary tools fashioned from salvaged scraps... the results might be inexpert, but surely we might produce something serviceable.

[He looks over the geological features the boy proposes building around, picturing it in his mind and nodding.]

However... would I be correct in assuming that you have yet to recruit any aid?

[Acknowledging that he was in agreement with Exarch's assessment. Surprisingly. The way the man had grasped the issues so swiftly indicated prior knowledge which wasn't in keeping with the various assumptions the brunette had made in the past, Maybe he was going to have to discard those and start from the beginning..]

There's also the possibility of using concrete, but that hasn't been tested yet, and would still require some wooden framing in order to hold a shape during the pouring process. Heh- we just can't get entirely away from carpentry.

[Yes, that is indeed genuine puzzlement in his voice. Concrete just doesn't exist in Eorzea or in Norvrandt.]

Forgive me, I'm unfamiliar... but I am sure only a brief explanation will suffice. If it is something that can be poured and molded, I can see the merit.

As for finding volunteers, I can make no guarantees, yet I will gladly make mention of your project to others and request their aid. It would benefit all of us, after all.

Yes, concrete- like what they use to form sidewalks, roads, foundations, the list goes on.... It's a highly versatile substance.

Where we might ordinarily use stone, then. Interesting... perhaps another time, you could tell me how it’s made. I can think of many who might make use of such information.

It really shouldn't have] If we only had a hardware store, obtaining a premade mix would be no trouble at all. At that point all you really need to do is add water... but here.. it would have to be from scratch.
