[All she'd like to say is "you'll see", but he deserves a little more of an answer than that.]

Not sure how it happened, but... it's got different parts from both places. Like someone saw the ideas in a magazine, but couldn't decide what they liked more, you know?

[Ah, that just makes it sound even crazier.]

[He frowns, trying to work through her explanation - and then tilts his head a little.]

No, actually it does. Like... you know those building kits - Legos. Like someone took two different kits and just put them together?

[Tifa's head tilts to mirror his, trying to imagine in her head what these 'lego' things are, her smile only slightly fading as her brows begin to crease. She's silent following his explanation, attempting to put it together herself, but when nothing comes to mind, she finally blurts out:]

I'm sorry, what are legos?

[Gaia doesn't have cool things like that. :(]

Oh, uh, sorry. They're little plastic bricks that fit together, and they come in different shapes and sizes. They've got some really cool kits of stuff you can make with them, like... airships and castles and that kinda thing.

Oh! Kind of like building blocks...

[This sounds like something Marlene would have had, or the boys in the slums.

Tifa giggles with a nod. The comparison is actually pretty spot-on for someone who just got here.]

I guess you could say it's something like that. Two different kits, like this place took pieces from an airship kit and a castle kit. It's not just the bar, though. A lot of other things are showing up not quite right.

[Tifa nods in the direction of the chickens...]

[Noct follows her nod toward the chickens and then blinks at her.]

Okay that's weird. I mean, it's weird enough with buildings, but.

[It feels different when it's living things, for some reason.]

Have you ever seen anything like it!? Chickens with feet for hands...

[Because she sure as hell hasn't.]

Some of them are cute, but I'd still be careful if I were you. They might look cute, but some of the species around here can get aggressive. Don't walk out into the water at the beach unless you know how to spear a fish.

Definitely not. I thought they were just... something I'd never seen before, you know?

[It's not like he doesn't know there are things in other places that he's never seen before, after all.]

[The mention of fishing gets his attention, though.]

Uh... can you fish down there? Or is everything just going to, you know...

[Try to eat you first.]

Kinda feels like it. You might be able to, if you're real careful.

[She's no fishing expert, but...]

Get yourself a fishing rod and keep your distance, and you might be able to nab something from the water. Just gotta make sure you don't give those dragonfish a chance to bite your arm off, 'cause I'm pretty sure they will.

[Him perking up at the mention of it hasn't escaped her notice, though.]

You a fisher?

[Noct nods, looking a little sheepish.]

Yeah, it's kind of my hobby or whatever back home. I got hurt as a kid and ended up sitting around a lot, and I learned back then.

I see... Sorry to hear. Sounds like you made the best of it, at least.

[There's always a silver lining, right...? She doesn't think he wants a pity party, so Tifa moves on quickly from that.]

I'd love to learn how sometime. There aren't a lot of big bodies of water to fish at in Midgar, but here's a different story. [ ... ] If you're up for teaching, that is! It'd really help the sushi stand I'm trying to get off the ground.

[Noct definitely doesn't want a pity party - he only brought it up because it was on the topic, honestly.]

[He smiles a little at that.]

Yeah, uh, absolutely. Pretty sure my friends back home got bored sitting around while I went, so yeah. I can definitely try and show you.

Well, there isn't much else to do here, so...!

[Tifa stretches, motioning to the world around them. Anything is more interesting than sitting around waiting for something to happen, which is all she did up until now. They all have to make their own fun somehow.]

Just say the word, and we can meet at Takoba beach! Or even down in the caves. There're tons of fish down there.

[Noct nods.]

I'll keep it in mind and let you know.

We'll have to find something to keep the fish in, too, but I bet we can find a tub or cooler or something on the beach.

[Or.... she can cook them.........

Sounds good! I gotta get back, but if you keep going, you'll get to the bar eventually! It's not a long walk.

[She gives Noctis a slap on the shoulder.]

I'll see you around, okay? Try not to let the chickens chase you.

[His question seems to unwind Tifa's posture a little. If there's one thing this world is good at, it's putting them all at the same level, and as much anger as she feels for him right now, she's not going to withhold that kind of information. Guess she'll have to play nice, too.]

We don't know. Time doesn't work the same here as it does anywhere else. [She points to the sky, but her eyes never once leave his.] There's no sun, and no night. No way to tell the time but to count it yourself.

[And even then, unless someone's been keeping track of time right down to the second, there's no way of knowing for sure how long it's been. It feels like weeks, maybe months. Part of why she and Cloud thought this was their fault, or Sephiroth's...]

Pretty sure everyone's perception's skewed without sleep.

Hm. It's almost like ...

[He pauses briefly to glance towards the sky. The longer he's here the more the questions keep piling up without any answers in sight.]

This could be another realm of existence -- similar to the lifestream. But I doubt this is the promised land.

[Though her words do bring up something else.]

Though even without time being normal, do you not grow tired?

[Sephiroth himself does not really sleep anymore. He has no real need to. But as far he knows unless everyone here is somehow dead that shouldn't be the case for Tifa. This entire thing is nothing but frustrating.]

[She shakes her head.]

Haven't slept since we got here. It'll come, I bet, just like hunger did.

[Just be thankful you missed that, Sephiroth. Some people had to eat rocks just to feel nourished after what could easily be months of not eating a single thing. Thankfully, Tifa still snacked every now and then, mostly out of boredom, but it helped when hunger struck this world like a violent storm out of nowhere.]

You'll end up just like the rest of us. [Which is probably a good thing.] Trying to find ways to pass the time, running out of things to do... Maybe you'll pick up some new hobbies while you're here.

[That aren't, you know, burning villages or trying to destroy the Planet.]

I have not felt the need for sleep nor hunger for a long time.

[He doubts that will change now and if it does, while concerning won't be the end of the world ... right? It'll just be awkward to get used to again.]

And no -- I will never be like the rest of you. I was never one of you to begin with. Never human.

[Always different. Always apart from the rest. It made wanting to destroy humanity that much easier.]

[Tifa rolls her eyes.]

Hate to break it to you, but whatever made you different and special on Gaia isn't gonna work here.

What makes me special is my birth and who I am. My abilities are simply a plus.

[Sort of true. His abilities are kind of what give him his ego. And he might be slightly salty that he has tried to use some of his powers and they haven't worked. She does not need to know that however.]

Regardless of what I can or cannot do here, I assure you my skills remain the same ...However, I do feel that engaging in a battle would be pointless. I assume you wish to return as well. Fighting will neither solve nor help either of us.

[Regardless of what his answer is, she already knows that whatever he tries won't work. If something as simple as their materia fails to work here, then of course something bigger won't. His words answer her question without directly saying so anyway.]

You stay out of our way and you'll have nothing to worry about, but this isn't about us.

[Is she attempting to intimidate him? That's cute. He looks almost amused. But it doesn't matter, he'll play along for now. Petty fighting is the last on his list of things he wants to be doing.]
