also blurrgs because i love them and its my post
what it means is ahsoka now has a lift to get around the place, and she is absolutely going to take advantage of it. getting around mount silver is a breeze with the blurrg stomping through the tunnel system and arriving at the wall market in style. the stands are full of delicious food as usual, and she's eager to hop off her mount to grab as many skewers as she can hold.
one hand of skewers is for her, but the other? well, she's going to be holding it out for the blurrg to munch on. ]
Good girl.
[ she affectionately praises, giving the blurrg a strong rub on its feathered head. and, if she notices someone staring, she'll give them a smile. ]
Want to feed her?
no subject
[Viridi just stares for a moment.]
That is... definitely an animal...esque living being, which means I am... mandated to love it more than I love any of you, even if it's, uh, not immediately lovable at first glance.
[...the hell is this thing]
Yes. Just... feeling so much love. And no repulsion. Zero repulsion.
I will definitely pet and feed her.
[To be fair, this thing is definitely NOT nature-al. In any way shape or form.]
no subject
[ ah yes, her favorite temperamental goddess child. her favorite by default really! ]
I think she is perfectly lovable. Blurrgs are very dependable and docile beasts. To call her repulsive is not of your standing, isn't it?
[ the blurrg blinks at viridi, expectant. ]
no subject
not by default
you just have to warm to her
slowly
very slowly]
I specifically said no repulsion! Don't put words in my mouth. [fake news] I'm so in love, I'm gonna put my hands all over this thing!
[Viridi proceeds to put her hands all over this thing. She tries not to think about the fact that it's 60% mouth.]
It's (probably) adorable from a specific frame of reference!
[Weirdly this description also applies to Viridi.]
no subject
[ survey says that's a lie, but ahsoka will keep spreading misinformation in the name of giving blurrgs love and affection that they deserve.
the blurrgobo squawks out a gross growl of a sound and leans its mostly-head body into viridi's hands. it might get a little slobber on them. precious. ]
no subject
[The drool drips onto her fingers and the liquid is viscous enough that her subtle attempts to wipe it back onto the blurrgobo are largely unsuccessful.]
Your universe must be filled with such atroci -- atroci...ously lovable creatures.
I don't know how you stand it.
[The blurrgobo opens its mouth at this point to burp lightly. Viridi's hair flower wilts.]
no subject
Yeah, the known planets in the galaxy are rather inhospitable. Giant spiders, giant cats, giant reptiles. [ a beat, then- ] Just imagine a lot of giant beasts that want to eat you.
Blurrgs, at least, don't. That makes them the best.
no subject
[Viridi specializes in giant beasts that try to murder humans.]
Giant cats sound downright cuddly. You could practically ride one. Like a bus with many legs.
Anyway, yes, very lovely to meet you, blurrg.
[Having done her due diligence, she will take several steps back. And then several more.]
What do you mean by 'other planets', though?
no subject
anyway- ]
I mean other planets. Seems like most people here originate from some place called Earth. Doesn't sound very advanced, considering they don't support space travel yet. I come from the planet Shili, though I lived on Coruscant most my life.
no subject
Space travel?
Don't even suggest things like that. I shudder to think of what humans might do if they ever get that far.
So you're an alien. That must be why I tolerate you marginally more than I tolerate other humanoids. [wow it's practically a love confession] ...And so is the blurrg!
Everything makes so much more sense.
no subject
You know, to me, you're the alien. In fact, all humans are! Getting singled out is pretty rude.
[ "ahsoka you don't even really care" "yeah and?" ]
no subject
I transcend such labels.
[Viridi sniffs.]
But you can call humans whatever you like; I don't care.
no subject
[ it's the kind of question that seems like a light insult, but her voice is genuine in curiosity. shouldn't something on the level of a spiritual deity be able to take on any shape or form? ]

Somehow, I never considered that the walkways I had installed would be traversed by anything that massive...
[Not that he could verify that she'd even utilized them. The paths didn't take up all of the tunnel space. Mentally he ran over the numbers again for the load bearing capabilities of the materials and supports in place ultimately determining that they should be able to take it. The choice of materials made all the difference.
It had been a while since he'd last seen Ahsoka and given the exchange he doubted that she would want to deal with him again. I mean- she'd seen how willing he was to push boundaries in the past and he hadn't tried to convince her that he had improved as a person over time.]
no subject
Yeah, blurrgs are pretty compact! This one must be pretty young actually. [ though not too young that she feels bad about hitching a ride on it. ] Legion told me they've been merged with something called a chocobo? Never heard of them, but they must be birds of some kind.
...So, you gonna feed her?
no subject
.. and potentially useful. [Although it looked ridiculous, with the terrain expanding and the lack of motorized vehicles this creature might be the next best option to walking on foot everywhere.] Blurrgs..and Chocobo.. [Repeating the designations with a look that indicated that he disapproved of the term] .. all these names sound as if they were lifted from a children's book.
[Having no intention of feeding the creature, at least he didn't openly shoot the idea down. Given a few moments he might reconsider] What does it eat?
no subject
It's an omnivore. You see them more on planets with a humid climate. I'm... not sure if being merged with a chocobo would change its diet though. [ she looks down at it, humming a touch. ] Doesn't seem to hate the skewers I just gave it. Maybe start with that?
no subject
That would explain the teeth. [The features hadn't eluded his observation. Certain creatures did possess teeth-like appendages along with beaks but the blurrg's were significantly more pronounced and not worn down like a strict herbivores.] ...
[She still intended for him to ... feed it? This was the point where he should have flatly refused, but between her and the creature snuffling about he just... went with it. With a discerning look at the nearest stand, he selected a skewer with a variety of substances on it ranging from meat to vegetables] You don't give it the stick do you...? [Theoretically the stick would be a choking hazard, or wouldn't digest well... not that digestion proper had been an issue here, so why was he asking? Once he got her response, he'd hold it out for the animal. Seto Kaiba didn't tend to hesitate often, but it was clear that pet care was not something he had engaged in before.]
no subject
[ that said, the blurrgobo approaches and gives the stick more than a few sniffs to check its smell. then its beak opens and it immediately chomps on the top half of the skewer. or rather, it chomps off the top half, breaking the wood and gorging on the contents with slow and delighted chews. ]
no subject
I'd prefer to keep my fingers intact.
[ There would be no plucking the individual ingredients off one by one. That being said he moved his fingers to the furthest end of the skewer so the creature could easily take the rest when it was ready.]
How long did it take for you to tame it?
no subject
The approximation of a few days? [ time is such an odd concept here still, but it feels like it took that amount. ] They're good and loyal, as long as you're patient in gaining their trust.
[ she crosses her arms, gives him a look over with her eyes, then asks- ] You're thinking about it, aren't you?
no subject
Fair. [Though time was more quantifiable now with the water-based clocks, it was still difficult to put much stock in them. Time had been so elusive before.] ... [As she spoke, Kaiba studied the blurrgobo and it's peculiar attributes and features. It wouldn't be winning any beauty contests anytime soon. That patience thing could be an issue.]
[Sensing her eyes on him, he looked back to her wondering what that expression meant. He didn't have long to wait.] Thinking about what? [Retracting his arms and folding them across his chest in a guarded stance.]
no subject
[ raised up in an order where you were assessed on your skills every day meant getting plenty of judging looks on the daily. the look kaiba gives the blurrgobo isn't unlike those looks, for better or worse. ]
If it helps, blurrgs have been used in military operations on planets they are native to. They're a lot faster than they look, especially when you're low on other options.
no subject
I'm not currently planning any military operations. [Seizing on the irony that Kaiba corp used to produce weaponry, not that Ahsoka knew that]
... but as the terrain expands- there might be a purpose for one. Unless vehicles suddenly appear.
no subject
[ she says jokingly with a friendly smile. boy, she sure does hate getting involved in civil wars! that... has happened more than once in her life for comfort. ]
...
[ her turn to make a light cough. ]
Anyway, blurrgs are a good vehicle substitute if you need one. But you do make a good point about void expansion. Feels like more and more gets added at the blink of an eye. The world is fuller than it was when we arrived... whenever that was.
