a delightful picnic day.
Who: Everyone!
What: PokeBalls are now functional, and there are a lot more friends in Tabula Rasa.
Where: Outside of Heavenly Blanc! It's a picnic, baby.
When: You know, now-ish.

It seemingly happens at random, for the trainers of the creatures they call Pokemon. Sudden bursts of light, and out emerge quite a few new friends. Pokemon of different Types, shapes, and sizes are now wandering around . . . sticking close to their trainers, probably.
There's a small gathering outside of the Heavenly Blanc, with various snacks and food set out on tables outside. Feel free to come by, play with Pokemon, and have a bite to eat! It's a random assortment of food and drink, all "foraged" and/or made by the Pokemon crew in order to celebrate their partners being released and to also introduce them to their friends they've made in Tabula Rasa!
Be careful of the rumbling storm nearby, though . . . but on the bright side, at least your phones seem to be working, if you have any? Time to take selfies with your new friends, or maybe a TikTok that just stays on your phone forever.
(Trainers will have top levels, if they want, so if you want to interact with a specific trainer, you can wait for their level! Otherwise, have fun at the picnic.)

[Blue leaves them to their chatter, eventually searching out the last of Raihan's Pokémon pals. Rotom has been zooming about the picnic all the while, snapping pictures and chatting people up. Blue's already quite familiar with Rotom-enabled tech, having often interacted with the Rotom-dexes in Alola, so when he watches Rotom's camera zoom on him as he approaches, he gives it his best, photogenic wink and grin.]
Be sure to get my good side, Roto-chan! [He waves him down, watching him zoom about as he seats himself at the nearby picnic table.] Huuuh, I haven't had too many chances to see a Rotomphone, yet. What else can you do in there that a Rotomdex can't?

though most Rotom phones usually don't speak unless spoken to, Raihan's has developed a little more personality under his care. an influencer's phone is among one of their most heavily used tools, so he's encouraged Rotom to speak its mind and to not be afraid to show a little of its own charm. when Blue poses, it grins and snaps a shot with a click! and wiggle of its antenna. ]
It turned out very nicely! [ it'll flip itself around to show Blue the shot - it's actually is pretty nice. after a moment, it turns itself back around. ] I'm glad you asked! While groundbreaking in itzzzz technology, the Rotom Pokédex is a tool made specifically for travelling Trainers. It has no Internet capabilitiezz, and itzzz applicationzzz are limited to a camera, map, and of course, the Pokédex. My open-source code allowzzz for developerzzz to create all sorts of applicationzzz, so my potential spanzzzz as wide as human imagination!
[ it looks very proud at this fact... yup, this is definitely Raihan's phone. to demonstrate, it'll flip into portrait mode to showcase Raihan's home screen - there's plenty of apps that connect to various social media websites, a video/audio call function, texting, games, a music player, video streaming... it really wasn't kidding. ]

[Oh, but access to Raihan's apps was pretty convenient...... Blue skims them out of curiosity, and sighs. Too bad he won't be able to connect to any of the networks to see them. He notices recent photos, though...]
[With a glance to the side to see if Raihan was distracted, he taps on the screen, noticing a group shot of Raihan with several other Trainers. They all had different jerseys... The Galar Gym Leaders, he assumes? None of them look particularly of interest, if he's being honest, but he picks out one- a face he recognizes from matches on TV in Kalos. A face he recognizes from memories.]
Hey, Rotom, [Blue hums, gazing at the bright smile of the purple-haired man posing with them before glancing for anything else interest. Music feed....] What's the deal with Raihan and that Leon guy, anyway? There must be lots of gossip, right?

[ it can't bring up competitive statistics due to that lack of internet connection, but even if it could, it has a feeling that something like that isn't what Blue is asking for. there's certainly more from Raihan's text messages that it could communicate, but the face on the phone looks hesitant... teasing as it may be when Raihan gets a little too full of himself, this is probably something that should be kept between them. on the phone's screen, a red "X" flashes. ]

......Well, I'm mostly interested in their battles, anyway.... What kind of Pokémon has a Champion like that Leon got, anyway? Got any battle footage of them that you're allowed to show me, at least?
[Truthfully, he's interested in the personal aspects too, but... He's seen a lot of that already, hasn't he? Rotom's probably right, though- he should ask Raihan more about that, later.]

[ it flips around, showing Blue its screen - the video is from Wyndon Stadium, the packed crowd roaring cheers for both Leon and Raihan as they battle it out. ] Thizzz is footage of the exhibition match that opened last year'zzz League Challenge season!

[..Not that the same had never been said about himself and Red, but given the long gap of absence of both himself and especially Red from the public eye, there had been a lot less time for the idea to stew.]
[Blue settles in with excitement to watch the recorded match- excited not only to see the supposed 'undefeated Champion's team, but also to see Raihan's own battle techniques. They still couldn't hash out their own thirst to battle, despite their teams having been reunited... So for now, he would have to sate his hunger with watching one of his recorded battles.]
[The man doesn't battle quite how Blue expected, just from knowing his suave and relaxed self off the field. Granted, he had felt it in the pumping of blood from the memory he'd gotten of him as a child, but seeing it was something else. He certainly didn't battle like any Dragon-type user he knew- he was used to the stuffy and dignified creed of the Dragon clan, a kind of quiet but oppressive power that even other Dragon-type users in nearby regions seemed to battle with. But Raihan was different- wild, and uncontrolled... It reminded him more of the dragons of Unova than anything, but even that was hardly an approximation.]
[Furthermore, his battle style hardly relied on the Dragon type's strengths at all. Instead, he relied on his battlefield techniques- weather, terrain, set by both abilities and Dynamax moves, changing it up when it suited him. He didn't go for raw power... He whittled his opponents down by taking advantage of the surrounding effects.]
[It was hardly like any other Type specialist he'd ever seen, and he'd wondered, when he had seen the rest of Raihan's Pokémon out of their balls, just how a Torkoal had managed to get onto a Dragon user's team. Now he knew.]

he smirks to himself when he sees Blue engrossed in watching the footage of him and Leon, wondering if he can take the opportunity to get a jab in. leaning down close with his hands stuffed in his hoodie pockets, his chin is nearly resting on Blue's shoulder, not quite making contact when he chirps up. ]

[Unfortunately for Raihan, his plan works- which means that the moment he starts talking, Blue jumps, jerking backwards and smacking his head directly into the other man's jaw.]
Tss!!! [He hisses in pain, reaching to rub the back of his head as he turns to pout over-shoulder. Shoulda figured he wouldn't be able to get away with his little scouting plan for long...] Oi. I don't know if 'mesmerized' is the word for it. [That's not entirely a denial, right?]

[ well... yeah, it works, but not in the way he's anticipating. at least it's not his nose, but the sudden forceful bump against his jaw still smarts. he rubs it as he rises to full height, pouting a bit as Rotom does its best not to snicker too loudly. hopefully it was too busy showing Blue that video to get that on camera... ]
Sure looked like it to me! Not like I can blame you, though. [ he bounces right back with another smile; he can't look uncool for too long! ] Hey, Rotom. You're not giving away all my battle strategies, are you?

Hah, don't worry though, it's not all your strategies! I mean, you've gotta have more going on than this, right? [He jerks his thumb towards Rotom's screen with a teasing smirk. It had been a singles battle, but he knew that Raihan favored doubles- so surely, there were a lot of combinations to be had with those weather strategies.] You know, just assuming.
...That Leon guy, though. He sure has a Champion's spread of Pokémon on his team, doesn't he? [Blue rubs his chin thoughtfully.] There isn't any one strategy, so there's nothing in particular to exploit. Mmm, but everyone's got a strategy in mind, so if I had to peg his, it'd be...
Risky full-power moves. [Dragon Meteor, Steel Beam, Flare Blitz... He shoots Raihan a teasing grin.] Am I right, Mr. Number-one-rival?

Obviously! You can't get the whole Raihan experience just from watching one battle. It's why my fans are always coming back for more.
[ well, there are other reasons... but for those interested in competitive battling, Raihan does like to show them what sorts of new strategies he can bring to the table. ]
Actually, you're not! [ he pauses, thinking. ] Well, you're sort of not? There was a year that he experimented with those kinds of moves, and it almost costed him the finals. I really had him against the wall, too!
[ he sighs, but shrugs it off. ] Leon's always crafting new strategies to keep his challengers on their toes. Usually it's me on the receiving end of them - there's something new to look out for every season. The man's a bloody beast.

Not that that's a bad thing.
[He's interested in hearing Raihan's perspective on his rival, though- as he should be, as anyone interested in a competitive battling scene should be. Who knew any trainer better than their rival, after all?]
[It doesn't surprise him, either for Raihan to refute him or to hear that the guy didn't have any one consistent strategy. Keeping things consistent meant keeping things stale, after all- and a Champion had to be more than consistent to keep their place at the top.]
In other words, he's the one keeping his eye on you, [Blue grins, and the way he looks at Raihan is awfully knowing.] Well, not that that's a bad thing for a rival, right?

[ he's already bore witness to Raihan's skills with selfie angles back in the nightmare tunnels, and now that Rotom is up and running again, he's sure to see plenty more. it's only a matter of time!
the rival chatter, however, sobers him up a bit. it's not that talking about his losses to Leon is a sore point, but rather he usually doesn't have to talk about them - everyone in Galar is aware of their rivalry, so this is a strange bit of introspection to have to go through. ]
He'd better! I'm the one that's been keeping him on his game since he became Champion. [ he hopes he looks as nonchalant as he wants himself to, glancing at Blue with a raised brow. that look can mean a lot of things. ] We don't underestimate each other - our matches are always the talk of the town because of it.

[Blue hums, and glances back towards the Rotomphone once more.] Hey, I believe you. ...He wouldn't keep coming back for more otherwise, right?
[Is he asking Raihan that, or himself? Maybe they were both trying to act a little more nonchalant than they should about this.]
...Anyway, the fact that you're the top Leader means there's not much better of a challenge to be had, right? So I guess if the guy never travels to inter-League tournaments, he must be pretty satisfied with what he's got.
[Blue rests his chin in hand.] Though I guess if he's running a Battle Facility now, he's hoping they'll come to him, huh. The seasoned challengers, not just the star newbies.
