What: PokeBalls are now functional, and there are a lot more friends in Tabula Rasa.
Where: Outside of Heavenly Blanc! It's a picnic, baby.

It seemingly happens at random, for the trainers of the creatures they call Pokemon. Sudden bursts of light, and out emerge quite a few new friends. Pokemon of different Types, shapes, and sizes are now wandering around . . . sticking close to their trainers, probably.

There's a small gathering outside of the Heavenly Blanc, with various snacks and food set out on tables outside. Feel free to come by, play with Pokemon, and have a bite to eat! It's a random assortment of food and drink, all "foraged" and/or made by the Pokemon crew in order to celebrate their partners being released and to also introduce them to their friends they've made in Tabula Rasa!

Be careful of the rumbling storm nearby, though . . . but on the bright side, at least your phones seem to be working, if you have any? Time to take selfies with your new friends, or maybe a TikTok that just stays on your phone forever.

(Trainers will have top levels, if they want, so if you want to interact with a specific trainer, you can wait for their level! Otherwise, have fun at the picnic.)

[Zack is more than enthused to give the man a fistbump in return. He taps his fist and then puts his hands on his hips to give a grin.]

You look pretty damn happy to have em back. That's awesome!

[Honestly he would be more than happy to have an attack pet of his own. Now that he sees a bunch of these guys with several of them he wonders how he can get his own.

... But don't let Zack have one. That's a bad idea.]

How'd you manage to get them all back?

[ hell yeah! he's just as enthusiastic about having the bump returned, his hands moving to his hoodie pockets once they drop. as excited as he is to be surrounded by friends, his posture is more relaxed than one might expect. ]

I raised all of these guys myself. Having them around is like being with family.

[ and of course, that implies that not being with them was like being forcefully torn from them, which isn't as nice to think about. but he's here to focus on the positives, and intends to keep doing that! ]

Great question! [ he pulls an Ultra Ball out of his pocket, clicking the button in the middle to enlarge it from its smaller, more portable form to show Zack. ] None of our Poké Balls worked until a little while ago. I'd chalk it up to those thunderstorms that have been popping up, if I had to make a guess...

[ he shrugs. ] But who's to say for sure? It's not like anything else around here makes sense!

That's as good as an explanation as I'd expect, yeah.

[Things don't really make sense around here if the thunderstorms suddenly made their magic balls work who's he to argue?

Yet, he does have to ask... Someone might need a little more explanation of what pokemon and pokeballs really are-]

But you're saying that your animals stay in those tiny little baseballs...??

That's the only different thing I've noticed, anyway. Maybe it's just the void throwing us Trainers a bone?

[ and if it's that, he appreciates it... but he's not sure if it makes up for Hammerlocke being in ruins. maybe he'll change his mind when his Pokémon can actually use their attacks. ]

Not a baseball, mate. [ he smirks, giving the ball a light toss in his hand. ] Have we not given you the Pokémon run-down yet?

[ it feels like something he has to go through every time he meets someone new... no matter how many times he does it, it's still strange to him that all of it just isn't common knowledge. he's happy to do it, though - the more people that get to know how mysteriously cool Pokémon (and most importantly, his dragons) are, the better! ]

[He's been given partial run-downs of what pokemon are but he's never actually heard about anything with pokeballs. Sorry to make Raihan go over it for the hundredth time!]

Nah, not really. Just that you guys keep these pets and use them for battles and stuff like that.

[Which is pretty wicked. He'd have one if he could but that's probably not the best idea for someone in Zack's situation right now.]

I'm guessing they somehow get put into those balls for safe keeping?

[ it's not a bother for him in the least - as long as people express interest in learning about this sort of thing, he's happy to explain it. being around people so unfamiliar with Pokémon has definitely reminded him to not take his partners for granted, but he also wants to share a piece of the joy and companionship he's experienced with them through teaching people about how amazing they can be. for once, it's not a brag - he's completely genuine about it. ]

That's the gist of it, yeah. [ he smirks - there's more nuance to it, but he sure has the basics down. ] Pretty much! You can't travel around practically with your Pokémon roaming around. If you're a Trainer, Poké Balls are the best way to keep everyone safe and cozy when you're out and about.

[ with the brood of dragons that Raihan has under his care, it's definitely clear as to why a tool like that would be useful. ]

Sounds handy. And better if you don't have these big guys stomping around all the time, huh?

[He grins with some amusement. He can just imagine if he had to keep Bahamut around if the giant dragon just swooped around and smashed around beside him all the time. Think of the property damage! Pokeballs are a good idea.]

So, which one is your favourite?

[Zack... You can't ask someone who their favourite kid is.]

I can't imagine I'd be welcome in too many places if they did, well-behaved as they are. Dragons don't always make for very good houseguests, you know?

[ he chuckles a bit at the visual of his entire team trying to shove themselves into one room. it'd be possible, sure, but things are bound to get lively, not to mention messy. even outside, Goodra's near-constant slime dripping from her body will make cleanup a little difficult. ]

Trick question! I love 'em all equally. [ YOU CAN'T FOOL HIM!!!! ] But if you're satisfied with a half-answer, Goodra's been with me the longest and Duraludon is my ace. Those are just facts.

[ the two respective pokémon look up from their foodstuffs to glance curiously at Zack, wondering if they should approach. ]

[Zack grins in response. He's glad to hear an answer like that because when you own several attack pets you should love them all equally. But some of them do have history and it sounds logical to have one that's the most reliable in a fight.]

That sounds reasonable to me! [He gives them a wave when they look up, even.] It's nice to meet you dudes too!

[Although he is a bit confused by the big pink one, Goodra. Is that slime...??]
