a delightful picnic day.

Who: Everyone!
What: PokeBalls are now functional, and there are a lot more friends in Tabula Rasa.
Where: Outside of Heavenly Blanc! It's a picnic, baby.
When: You know, now-ish.
Content Warnings: Cute. Dragons. Birbs.

It seemingly happens at random, for the trainers of the creatures they call Pokemon. Sudden bursts of light, and out emerge quite a few new friends. Pokemon of different Types, shapes, and sizes are now wandering around . . . sticking close to their trainers, probably.

There's a small gathering outside of the Heavenly Blanc, with various snacks and food set out on tables outside. Feel free to come by, play with Pokemon, and have a bite to eat! It's a random assortment of food and drink, all "foraged" and/or made by the Pokemon crew in order to celebrate their partners being released and to also introduce them to their friends they've made in Tabula Rasa!

Be careful of the rumbling storm nearby, though . . . but on the bright side, at least your phones seem to be working, if you have any? Time to take selfies with your new friends, or maybe a TikTok that just stays on your phone forever.

(Trainers will have top levels, if they want, so if you want to interact with a specific trainer, you can wait for their level! Otherwise, have fun at the picnic.)

[ Turing looked at Exeggutor, and then back at Blue. A single tree came from many eggs? Not seeds, but eggs? But...but that wasn't how that worked! They were certainly closer to understanding Pokemon than they were when they arrived, but this was telling them that they still had a very, very long way to go.

So really, it was fortunate that Blue was so willing to share information with them, and their expression lit up (in a different way than normal, at least). "Exeggcute", huh? ]

Oh, I see! May I look through it?

[ They didn't have the mesh or even books to read! It had been so long since they researched something new...! ]

[Well, technically Exeggutor was a collection of seeds that just looked like eggs..... But Blue's trying not to confuse by splitting hairs.]

[(And also, that collection of seeds hatches from a single Pokémon egg. Don't question it, just roll with it.)]

Oh, yeah! 'course!

[Blue pops a seat on the ground and holds the small tablet in his open palms facing Turing, allowing the ROM to interact with the screen as they liked. It was pretty intuitive to scroll through like a touchscreen- and each listing had its own tabs such as size comparison, a sample of the Pokémon's cry, and the area where they could be found in the wild.]

All of the Pokémon I've ever seen can be found in here, [Blue explains, watching as Turing looked through.] When I was a kid, my gramps invented this thing and made me and Red go off and collect all the information for it in our home region, so I've got every Pokémon native to Kanto registered here. Eventually, it grew into a tool so that trainers could have all the information about Pokémon at their fingertips in the field.

You could say it's a pretty important invention! [Blue beams, seemingly quite proud of that.] Nowadays you can access all this stuff from the internet as an app, too, but I kinda like still having a separate Pokédex, too.

Thank you!

[ It helped that Turing could process information faster than a human could. So while it might have looked like they were flipping through each entry without a care, they were in fact committing each entry to memory. After going for so long without learning or even relearning something, flipping through everything was oddly comforting, in a way. They would have to decide later if they wanted to actually keep said data, but with a handful of Pokémon trainers in the void, there were benefits to having that information at their disposal.

Did you want a walking, talking (or rather, talkative), non-Rotom Pokédex running around, Blue? Because that was pretty much what was happening. ]

So you were like a research assistant for your grandfather? What was that like?

[ There were a few other questions they wanted to ask, but they somehow mustered enough restraint to avoid burying Blue with every single one of them at once. One of those questions was about the whereabouts of Duraludon, Flygon, and Goodra's entries. Perhaps they had simply missed those ones...? ]

[Wooahh... Fast was an understatement! Blue watches in wonder as Turing seems to take in all of the data at lightning speed, figuring that it must be a robot thing, to go through stuff that quickly. Actually, he wonders if Turing couldn't just-- somehow connect to the dex and download it all directly?]

[Is that supposed to be a bad thing? Blue would love it!]

[As he ponders all of that, he blinks back into attention at their question, and nods with a small, awkward smile.]
Uh-- well... [He glances across the way to Oak in conversation, sketching away at one of the other Pokémon present.] ...I always complained about it when I was a kid, but now, I'm glad that I did it. It really gave me that driving force I needed, learning how to be a trainer.

And I'm really proud of Pokédex, now. It's... kind of his life's work. And something that... connects us. [That was as diplomatic as he could take it, he thinks... without getting into anything deeper. Things he didn't really want to touch.]

[ Something that connected family to each other... There was indeed something very special about that, but from Turing's point of view there was clearly some kind of condition. Honestly, they couldn't say they didn't know what it was like to have to reconcile a condition like that with everything else, and when they thought back to the memory they had inadvertently borrowed from Blue it started making more sense. That information had to be used with care, though. After taking careful notice of Blue's expression, Turing immediately decided not to share any of the conclusions they had come to.

They were curious, but they still had tact, after all. ]

It connects you to Exeggutor as well! If not for that, would you still have met all of your Pokémon?

[ Meeting friends also made it a worthwhile journey! With that in mind, they tried to put a smile back on their face for Blue's sake. ]

[Blue is ...grateful, for that; whether Turing had known some of his true feelings about his childhood or not, it wasn't hard to tell that there was something more going on with him when it came to how he trailed after his grandfather's coattails and drummed himself up on a flimsy pedestal; despite that, what he said about his feelings was genuine.]

[Exeggutor, seemingly knowing exactly what Blue was thinking even without his telepathic powers, waddles closer to his trainer and babbles in agreement as Turing pipes up.]

Yeah, I guess you're right about that, huh? [Blue smiles warmly, both to Turing and Exeggutor.] I'm sure I still woulda been a real hot-shot, buuut... They say everything happens for a reason!

[ Turing couldn't help but smile a little more when Blue's expression brightened. Not only that, but having Exeggutor to back them up was certainly welcomed, even if their first meeting with the Pokemon was a little rocky. We cool, Exeggutor. We cool.

Blue's words certainly gave them something else to think about, though. "Everything happens for a reason," huh...? Maybe there was a reason they have been taken here in the first place. It was upsetting to be taken away from home, but on the other hand, they had also made so many new friends. ]

It would be nice to know those reasons, but no matter what they may be, I am still glad to have met you!
