[ ahsoka is going down the bridge in the direction of the shrine and is quick to observe kimihiro's meditation. she doesn't plan to disturb him, taught from childhood how sacred the act is, but then she catches the broom debacle. from its slow walk to him, from it dropping and snapping him out of meditation, and even the nagging.

she decides to stop staring and actually approach as he sweeps, expression faintly stunned. ]

How did you make it move?

[kimihiros]

(ah! he recognizes the voice, but the person it belongs is currently blocked out of his sight. kimihiro fully turns to address her, slowly working with the broom. hopefully he can occupy it like this for a while before it starts craving attention again.)

I didn't. It's a spirit that possesses tools - they're called tsukumogami. (and carefully, almost showing empty hands of peace to the broom, he sets it against the nearest surface.) They like to play pranks, so I'd be careful and use all my belongings if I were you.

[realway]

[ his explanation, though it makes a certain sense, makes her visibly deflate. ]

Oh, I see.

[ for a moment she thought... well, she may have gotten her hopes up too quickly. her eyes dart to the broom, wondering if it will spring to life again, before she refocuses on kimihiro. ]

I thought the only spirits here were Parsee, Cole, or even Viridi if goddesses count. Have you met them?

[kimihiros]

This one is too. (he points to mugetsu, who squeaks a hello from kimihiro's neck. he still hasn't caught on the fact that he too is considered to be one.)

I've met Parsee. (although he prefers to call her by her last name. her expression doesn't go unnoticed, though.) If I may ask, what made you so disappointed?

[ she grins a touch at mugetsu, temporarily taken from her dismay, and lets her shoulders ease when he asks. ]

The way it moved made me think... it was using the Force. Or that you were.

[kimihiros]

Would you mind elaborating?

(it just sounds like such a broad concept to his ears.)

[realway]

[ a nod - she has to remember not everyone would know what the term means here. ]

It's an energy field that connects all living things. Those sensitive to the Force can be trained to manipulate it with the minds.

If I had access to it, moving a broom around would be a simple trick.

[kimihiros]

It makes sense to me.

(after all, what is magic if not that? connection? kimihiro simply smiles, polite and kind, even if he doesn't like what he's about to say. it's more out of sympathy than anything else.)

Even that, huh? I've been locked out of my abilities as well.

[realway]

[ she smiles soft, thankful he understands. ]

This world strips us all of any abilities. It's strange though - I can still feel it. Within me, but... I can't extend it out into the world.

[kimihiros]

I feel the same.

My magic is stuck within me, but at least I still have my knowledge. I was told that the world picks from what we know, and between me and Mizuhashi, I believe this knowledge would be useful considering how we lived before here.

[realway]

...What do you mean by 'how' you lived?

[kimihiros]

Mizuhashi is a spirit. I can naturally see and interact with them.

So, should the world pull some more of these shenanigans, I'll be able to respond and recognize it.

[realway]

So you're like a spiritual expert.

[ there is a difference between having the power and knowing how to use it. this much is true of the force as well. ]

I hope the Void brings back our connections again. I have faith, but it feels like a long waiting game.

[kimihiros]

I still have much to learn.

(sure his power grew, and with it, his comprehension of the spiritual world. he's still learning, though. god knows how long it took yuuko.)

[ a nod. ]

I've been told the same. It was a collective dream - I wasn't part of strangely. [ she sighs. ] I would have liked to have been though. The Force... it's been part of me since I was born. Having it cut off is like missing a sense.

[kimihiros]

I can't say I have had the exact same. For most of my youth, I wanted to get rid of my abilities.

(he says youth past, but he doesn't look a day over eighteen, this teen-looking man.)

It did grow gradually into the same feeling.

[realway]

[ her gaze softens, knowing there is a story there but not sure how much she should intrude. ]

Why did you want to get rid of them to begin with?

[kimihiros]

I was harassed by spirits too often, put in dangerous situations because I could see and interact with them. It felt like a burden.

(with a gesture, he invites her in, to sit with him on the floor.)

[realway]

[ she steps forward and lowers to the ground, setting herself down on her legs. ]

I imagine that must have been frightening for you. To not have any guidance on what you were going through.

[kimihiros]

I had guidance eventually, but it still freaked me out more often than not.

(yuuko... the mention makes him nostalgic, a hint of sorrow in his words even if he smiles through them.)

[realway]

How old were you? ...For me, I was taken in as a child. I never knew my parents, or any family I had.

[kimihiros]

Seventeen.

(... he gives her a warm smile, albeit sorrowful from understanding her pain in a personal level.)

I was no different.

[ ahsoka pauses, taking in the weight of that admission. she was taken in so young, she doesn't really have any memory of where she came from. there is no loss if there is no attachment, just as the jedi intend when taking in the force sensitive children long before they can conceive of such concepts. she's been wondering more lately what her life would be like if not for that. ]

I know how hard it can be. To be alone. Or to even feel it. [ her lowered eyes drift back up to him. ] You don't have to be alone.

[kimihiros]

You don't, either.

(had he known her memories, or lack thereof, were also a source of pain, he would have connected even more with the woman in front of him. his memory is wiped, perhaps even forged - his parents, his ability to taste food, his own history, all in an earring traveling the realms. it's a lonely existence, the one he doesn't even share with his other self, syaoran... not that he resents it, he was happy to simply exist in the company of his friends...
