Who: Kimihiro, Mugetsu, hopefully you! What: A few activities to get him started. ❤ Where: Everywhere! Most threads are around Merlaut, though! When: The month of December! Content Warnings: None, just spoilers sometimes.
[It wasn't entirely unoccupied. There was a woman fussing in front of one of the statues, sweeping around to get any of the leaves and detritus out of the way while she frowned at the tentacle haired woman, her eyes narrowing.
Look, she'd seen this happen in other locations, but the shrine and bridge hadn't been touched. Nobody touched HER shrine, damnit, and this had her putting her hands on her hips, growling at the broom.]
Don't give me lip. Look what they did to this place. This isn't even Shinto imagery and you know it.
[She squinted hard. Was it Greek? Maybe she needed to talk to Melinoe or Merlin about this shit. Someone else's world was getting melded to... oh, it was this guy. She gave a quick bow and planted her hands on her hips.]
Seems kind of impractical to ask the newbie that, Mizuhashi-san. (because the hell if he knows. he's been warned that these things just happen, but it's the first time he witnesses it. he supposes he doesn't have to explain what he's doing.
kimihiro only leaves for smoking, food and alcohol gathering, and to come here. at this point, there has been enough conversation for him to understand a thing or two as well about her. he wonders what's coming.)
(well, help out, would you? kimihiro offers her the stick he's holding, and should it be accepted, he'll go get another for himself. at the last words, he glances at the statues, more precisely, the clothes they wear.)
From my understanding, I'd say they're Greek. (which, logically, it means...) Perhaps you'd like to ask the Goddess.
Melinoe... yeah, I had a feeling this might be associated with her somehow.
[For a moment, she looked almost enraged. Her fists clenched and she gritted her teeth. This was HER shrine, damnit, not THEIR shrine. She didn't want to share it with... but would Melinoe feel any different? No. She wouldn't.
She breathed. Slowly. Holding it in, she swallowed and closed her eyes. She... She could use this.]
I think this world may fundamentally change what we are with its blunders, Kimihiro.
(he has never switched, she's mizuhashi - but he doesn't yap about it either. she is, nonetheless, much older than he is.
only one person ever called him kimihiro and such is gone by now. well, at least hearing the name every now and then is somehow refreshing.)
Meaning? (nothing could change what they are. they're just interpreted differently by the world, is all. note that he is still in his process of cleansing the temple, since she didn't take the stick.)
[In fairness, she was really pissed off right now. She'd probably remember what to call him later, but ... she probably wouldn't apologize. It wasn't her nature to do that much.]
It's not a proper Shinto shrine. What happens to me if people come and pray to me in a Greek temple? What about Melinoe? This place doesn't quite 'get' what we are. it's trying to figure it out, but when it tries sometimes things actually happen.
But is that a bad thing? You haven't been here as long. Weird things can happen. Our memories got messed up at one point. What if something changes and doesn't change back?
No no, this was fine. It was better than fine. It was mine! It was the one I originally had, and the shrine itself is mostly unchanged. They just added all this other... gah!
[She fidgeted. Building a new shrine next to the bridge didn't just feel like a hassle. It was worse. She'd...]
If I build a new one in sight of the bridge, it'll be in sight of this. I'll compare. That'd be so much worse. We know that, right?
Ngh.... I can... I can probably work with this... but the rituals probably have to be different, and I'm sharing space. I guess this means I don't get to be jealous about whose temple is better if everyone's at one.
[That was maybe a good thing. It was hard to say.]
People are trying to do that...I'm not sure how to feel. I mean, can the Form, the Truth and the Purpose behind a youkai truly be changed without destroying one? Does this world even understand the issue, and how does...
guh. This place leaves me with a lot more questions than answers, even as people try to do that.
Your fate and those people's are interconnected. I believe people meet when they have to meet.
(as expected of a mage such as him.)
I believe we will have to see. In my point of view, you'd still be as you are in your core, but I don't know enough about this place to give you a full vision.
[It was one of those things that was natural to both their worlds. A naturally foreordained circumstance. Not the same thing as destiny or fate, but rather closer to the naturally unavoidable. They were here for a reason, which necessitated that they meet, necessitated that they interact. It necessitated change.]
And it doesn't answer the ultimate question of my kind. Do we cease to exist if there is no jealousy, or if we have none. Does that change here? Do I care?
There's a lot of unanswered questions about this place. It... makes me almost obsessed at times.
(because it's just been hard to explain his perspective to people from several different worlds and walks of life. it doesn't phase him too much - it did take him a long time to fully comprehend it himself.)
Perhaps you grow back into humanity, but we can't know until the inevitable happens. It makes sense to be restless in the face of uncertainty, Mizuhashi. Don't beat yourself up over that.
I have been this way a long time, so you're probably right. There's a lot of pent up, built up inertia in centuries of cynicism. [She snorted and laughed.] As long as I don't cease to exist.
That's always a worry for us spirits. What happens if we lose our reason to be? Assuming we don't find a new reason.
Tch, if you're talking about the bill I think you are? That's on humanity. They'll get the natural recourse of shunting us aside in time. They probably won't even realize when the butcher bill comes do that it's because we ceased to exist.
That's a nice hope, but I think we both know it's a bit of a futile one, there. But hey. might as well hope for something while you're at it. Me? I'm currently safely away from their collective stupidity. they can keep their nice, pretty sun that shines so bright.

What the hell is going on here?

[She shrugged. She didn't really expect him to know. Glaring at the statues, she folded her arms and huffed loudly. Something was going on here.]
They've combined worlds again I think. This isn't any shrine I know....

Do you want to build one from scratch? A proper temple?
(she built a shack, after all.)

Perhaps the world joins all of you and creates something interesting. You know this is what happens in reality, after all.
(cultures mesh, myths mesh.)

[Honestly, it was pretty thin so far. Which might be better. Nobody needed to deal with satori or the like.]
ngh... I'm trying not to imagine myself as some sort of creative force like that. That could be bad considering me.

[It was the kind of thing that spirits understood, she found, better than humans.]
Well, I'd have to be human again, to be alive like them in the same sense. That's hard to do, obviously.

I don't think you'll stop being yourself even if you become more human than you are.

They all think they can go it on their own.

Hopefully, it comes to a balanced one. Perhaps humans can start reevaluating your existence before it's too late.
