[Ignis, too, looks up from where he's been inspecting the cakes. they look edible -- more than, in fact -- but he can't say he's not a little suspicious. glass case around them or no, this feels a bit like a fairy story, where the evil witch leaves cakes for unsuspecting children]

I wouldn't recommend it. [evil cake or no] You'd likely end with a tummy ache. [maybe. 'eating' around here is just as weird as anything else, he's noticed]

[ This is literally the most important decision Ann's going to make today. Maybe even this month, if months were a thing. Cake and sweets in general are something she takes very seriously. She hums at Ignis's words, squinting at a cream cake that she's been debating on for far too long. ]

True... then again, I'm not sure if tummy aches are even possible here. We could eat the glass and it wouldn't hurt us... of course, maybe tempting fate isn't the best option, either. [ She sighs, shoulders dropping. ]

Also true. [which is somewhat horrifying, but he's not going to get into that, right now] I suppose, if you're feeling brave ... [she could be a guinea pig!]

You're new, huh? [ Namely, she hasn't seen him before, and she's pretty sure she's seen and maybe even met most of the people in the Void at least once at this point. ] Aha, I don't think I could be that brave. If my friend Ryuji were here, though...

[that way, she wouldn't need a guinea pig to see what happens if and when you eat them all. she could have her cake and eat it, too! never mind the fact that he's very aware that's not what that saying means]

It's nice to meet you! [ Even over a random conversation about cakes. She laughs, a little nervously, though. ] Yeah, maybe... just one. For now.

And you. [he pauses, then adds] Ignis Scientia, by the by. [because exchanging names is important! and might give her an out, if she's having second thoughts about using herself as a cake guinea pig]

Ann Takamaki. [ Ah, his name is exotic! It's different, and she likes it. ] When did you arrive, Ignis-san?

[this time, the nod he offers her is a little more formal, somehow -- just shy of a bow and ever polite. did he mention it was a pleasure?]

[when he rights himself, he looks thoughtful for a moment, before shaking his head faintly] A month ago, perhaps? [a beat] I'm sure you've noticed how oddly time behaves here. [it's gotten better, from what he understands, but it's still not perfect]

[ She half wonders if this guy is some sort of royalty. Exotic name, dressed sharply, cute accent... and he seems intelligent, too. ]

I see... I hope you've been able to settle in well enough. This place is kinda crazy sometimes.

[not a Prince, but he definitely has training in courtly manners, for all that he attended more formal events than the actual prince did, before everything went to hell. he's not a mind-reader, however, and so rather than supply that, he tosses a glance over his shoulder before nodding]
