🥂 HEAVENLY BLANC VOID PARTY 🥂 Who: Everyone! What: Heavenly Blanc mingle and info exchange Where: The Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café When: "August 1"; but really, what is time Content Warnings: N/A Maybe you heard through word of mouth, or got an invite from the barista and barkeep directly, or spotted the handwritten paper invites hung up around the area, but there is a gathering happening at the Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café TODAY! So feel free to stop by, hang out, have some drinks, and share some stories. 🍺 DRINKS: Coffee will be served by Ren, and Tifa will be handling the other drinks. There's a wide variety behind the bar, ranging from alcoholic to the non-alcoholic, with delicious cocktails (yes, including virgin ones for the minors) to pick from. And before you ask - no, if you are underage, you may not have alcohol. Tifa will be very strict about it, and anyone who tries to bypass her imposed law will be subject to room temperature tapwater for the rest of the party. 🎲 GAMES: Various boardgames that came along with Le Blanc will be made available for all to play, including a Shogi board for the strategically inclined (and whoever knows how the heck to play it). Along the side wall are two pinball machines, and while they don't light up and make sounds, the mechanisms inside them still work, so they aren't completely out of the picture! Next to them, between the jukebox and the door is a dart board. Please do be mindful when throwing darts, as the light filtering into the bar through the front windows is very minimal. 🤔 INFORMATION EXCHANGE: The important part! When all are gathered inside the bar, Tifa and Ren will make a small announcement for everyone: "Now that we've all had the chance to take a look around and get our bearings, I wanna encourage everyone to exchange what you know, or what you've found. Even share it with the rest of us! Locations, ideas, theories - anything that could be useful in helping us all figure this out. We all come from different worlds, but we're stuck here, so we're in this together until we're not, yeah? Let's make friends and play nice, and most importantly, have fun today! Oh, and if you're coming and going, make sure to close the door nice and tight behind you." "It's nice to see everyone. Since we're stuck here together, let's cooperate well." ☕ OOC NOTES ☕ This is the open mingle post for the Heavenly Blanc void party! Please feel free to top-level and tag around. But without the Fade or magic, it must be like this place... no whispers or forgotten songs, or any way to hear the noise people make inside themselves.

I'm not sure I'd want to hear whispers. That seems ... [like what popular culture would have you believe schizophrenia is like, and no thanks, Tom Hanks. rather than say that, however, he just grimaces. that, he thinks, should convey his feelings on the matter well enough]

[While Cole is not an expert at reading expressions, he is accustomed enough to people finding him, and the things he can do and hear, strange or frightening. He can assume it's something along those lines.]

Most people don't, unless they're touched by something that pulls them close enough to hear.

[That probably doesn't help at all with Damien's view of the idea.]

[and the eyebrows go up again, because if Cole hadn't told him he wasn't human, he never would have guessed. he might have pegged the kid as being on the autism spectrum, maybe, but]

[He didn't say human, but then he remembers there are only humans where Damien is from. Not that he's exactly human, either... depending on who you ask.]

[He's aware enough of the intent of the unspoken question to elaborate further, but really, sometimes he wishes that was enough of an explanation.]

I'm a spirit, but different. Some call me a demon. I would rather it be spirit.

[no, he didn't, but yeah, for Damien, a person would be human. add in the fact that Cole looks human, lacking the hallmark pointed ears Damien thinks an elf should have, and well, there you go]

[either way, he flashes Cole a bit of a frown at that, his name not what he was asking for, and then frowns a little more, the idea of Cole being a demon not thrilling. it smacks of this being Hell, again, even though he's pretty sure he's ruled that one out. either way, let's -- focus on something else. namely:] What's the difference?

Demons hurt people. They take what they want, to become more than they are.

[It's of course much more nuanced than that, but that's the part Cole cares about the most.]

I don't want to hurt. I want to help.

Help, how?

[because that still sounds a little ... 'give me your soul, and i'll do something for you', which lines up with his idea of demon, no matter what Cole says, and that makes him a little uncomfortable. not that he believes in the soul, let alone that he has one, mind. it's more the idea of giving something of himself up that makes him uncomfortable. he does love power, but not at the cost of himself]

[Fortunately Damien doesn't have to worry about that. Not from Cole, at least.]

I listen for what I can fix, or lessen. Hurt, fear, anger, sadness, guilt. At least, that's how I would normally do it. I have to ask if someone is hurting, here. And everyone sees me and remembers, so it's harder to help and then be gone...

[It's a hard spirit life.]

As common as humans, or elves, or dwarves. Most stay in the Fade. The world beyond the Veil can be too hard to understand.

[He still has trouble with that sometimes, though fortunately not enough to, you know, lose his mind. Again.]
