🥂 HEAVENLY BLANC VOID PARTY 🥂 Who: Everyone! What: Heavenly Blanc mingle and info exchange Where: The Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café When: "August 1"; but really, what is time Content Warnings: N/A Maybe you heard through word of mouth, or got an invite from the barista and barkeep directly, or spotted the handwritten paper invites hung up around the area, but there is a gathering happening at the Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café TODAY! So feel free to stop by, hang out, have some drinks, and share some stories. 🍺 DRINKS: Coffee will be served by Ren, and Tifa will be handling the other drinks. There's a wide variety behind the bar, ranging from alcoholic to the non-alcoholic, with delicious cocktails (yes, including virgin ones for the minors) to pick from. And before you ask - no, if you are underage, you may not have alcohol. Tifa will be very strict about it, and anyone who tries to bypass her imposed law will be subject to room temperature tapwater for the rest of the party. 🎲 GAMES: Various boardgames that came along with Le Blanc will be made available for all to play, including a Shogi board for the strategically inclined (and whoever knows how the heck to play it). Along the side wall are two pinball machines, and while they don't light up and make sounds, the mechanisms inside them still work, so they aren't completely out of the picture! Next to them, between the jukebox and the door is a dart board. Please do be mindful when throwing darts, as the light filtering into the bar through the front windows is very minimal. 🤔 INFORMATION EXCHANGE: The important part! When all are gathered inside the bar, Tifa and Ren will make a small announcement for everyone: "Now that we've all had the chance to take a look around and get our bearings, I wanna encourage everyone to exchange what you know, or what you've found. Even share it with the rest of us! Locations, ideas, theories - anything that could be useful in helping us all figure this out. We all come from different worlds, but we're stuck here, so we're in this together until we're not, yeah? Let's make friends and play nice, and most importantly, have fun today! Oh, and if you're coming and going, make sure to close the door nice and tight behind you." "It's nice to see everyone. [that this place might be alive didn't occur to him. he was under the impression that someone was behind this in a singular, much smaller sense (another person, or something person-shaped), or that it was an AI, or something -- not a whole planet, surely. Ahsoka may be wrong, of course, just as much as any of them might be, but right or wrong, it still leaves him cold]

[he needs a drink; he's going to take a drink. he shakes his head as he lowers the glass again] I honestly hadn't considered that as a possibility.

[ do bad quips help calm fear? well, that's what obi-wan always did. she doesn't see it as horrifying. there's a sort of peace in the thought to her. that this world has welcomed them to help nurture its growth... she hopes that is the case at least. for now, this is what she feels makes the most sense. ]

I also proposed a simulation theory, but less people are keen on it. Do you have any theories?

[he can go along with the banter, even if it's not making him feel much better. she sees this as them potentially nurturing a creature, just by existing -- he sees it as, at worst, being fed on by something, and at best, being a bad case of fleas that the entity they're riding on the back of eventually shakes off. he didn't come here to trade one death for another. (he didn't really have any say in coming here, period, but that's beside the point.) he can only hope that's not the case]

[he shakes his head a little, either way, trying to clear it] I'm in the simulation theory camp, though. [it's not the only one he's heard that he thinks might hold weight, but] There are a dozen different films, where I'm from, that work on the basis of that very idea. They're fiction, of course, but ... [even a broken clock is right, twice a day. who's to say that one of the movies back home didn't get it right? add in the fact that he's a hacker, beyond his more respectable day job, and well -- yeah, simulation is the idea he reaches for first]

[ even fiction is loosely based on what's real, or could be real. shame the jedi order never allowed for such indulgences. all she ever got to read were ancient texts written by jedi from hundreds of years ago. ]

I think people who aren't receptive to it... maybe they don't like the idea of being trapped? Their bodies not their own, digitized like code. They might see that as more horrifying.

[ just riffing, she didn't really ask why people don't like the idea. and, while she doesn't see it that way, it isn't a warm thought to consider. ]

The body's just a vessel. [he taps his fingers against his temple] This is where the magic happens. [as long as they got his mind preserved right (and as far as he can tell, as far as anyone can comment on their own consciousness, they did), then he's fine with the idea of not being real otherwise. he's still him]

[though, as he drops his hand back to the table, he can't help but smile wryly:] Though, if we're all just -- just copies, physically, I wish whoever in charge here would have fixed my leg. [a beat] I'd say I guess they were going for accuracy, but. [nothing else is accurate, here. just look at how light works, how wind does, how hunger and sleep do now and will later, and so on. of all the things to get right, why'd it have to be his disability?]

[ the body as a vessel - jedi feel the same, though are a little more strict about how the vessel should be treated because of that same reason. she bites the inside of her cheek when he brings up his leg, hands holding together on the counter. ]

Are robotic replacements not an option where you're from?

[ she doesn't know a lot about the process, but knows anakin lost the lower part of his arm in battle. her voice toes the question with caution, hoping the question isn't insensitive. ]

Not in the way you're probably thinking. [or in the way he's thinking, anyway] We have prosthetics, but they're ... not overly functional and definitely not elegant. I'd still likely have the limp. [doubly so, if his insurance company didn't want to shell out the money for one of the nice prosthetics, which ahahahahah, American Healthcare]

[either way, he shrugs a little, before, coolly, he finishes:] I guess they just thought it was better to stick a hundred or so pins in my legs, to hold my bones together, and hope for the best.
