🥂 HEAVENLY BLANC VOID PARTY 🥂
Who: Everyone! What: Heavenly Blanc mingle and info exchange Where: The Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café When: "August 1"; but really, what is time Content Warnings: N/A
Maybe you heard through word of mouth, or got an invite from the barista and barkeep directly, or spotted the handwritten paper invites hung up around the area, but there is a gathering happening at the Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café TODAY! So feel free to stop by, hang out, have some drinks, and share some stories.
🍺 DRINKS: Coffee will be served by Ren, and Tifa will be handling the other drinks. There's a wide variety behind the bar, ranging from alcoholic to the non-alcoholic, with delicious cocktails (yes, including virgin ones for the minors) to pick from. And before you ask - no, if you are underage, you may not have alcohol. Tifa will be very strict about it, and anyone who tries to bypass her imposed law will be subject to room temperature tapwater for the rest of the party.
🎲 GAMES: Various boardgames that came along with Le Blanc will be made available for all to play, including a Shogi board for the strategically inclined (and whoever knows how the heck to play it). Along the side wall are two pinball machines, and while they don't light up and make sounds, the mechanisms inside them still work, so they aren't completely out of the picture! Next to them, between the jukebox and the door is a dart board. Please do be mindful when throwing darts, as the light filtering into the bar through the front windows is very minimal.
🤔 INFORMATION EXCHANGE: The important part! When all are gathered inside the bar, Tifa and Ren will make a small announcement for everyone:
"Now that we've all had the chance to take a look around and get our bearings, I wanna encourage everyone to exchange what you know, or what you've found. Even share it with the rest of us! Locations, ideas, theories - anything that could be useful in helping us all figure this out. We all come from different worlds, but we're stuck here, so we're in this together until we're not, yeah? Let's make friends and play nice, and most importantly, have fun today! Oh, and if you're coming and going, make sure to close the door nice and tight behind you."

"It's nice to see everyone. Since we're stuck here together, let's cooperate well."

[She settled in and watched the board. It was easier to watch the board. It didn't involve looking at people. Just pieces on the board. She took a sip from her drink. If her mood was any indication, she'd gotten into the third by now. Not exactly tipsy, but warm enough that she was feeling a little conversational.
Marisa'd always said alcohol helped with jealousy. She didn't agree, but it did make it ... easier to stomach.]
So how's the effort to make friends and get everyone on the same page going in there? Besides me.
no subject
It's nice to play, with good memories he has made through Shogi. He's taken back for a second to a dark church, a memory playing in his head of sitting next to a girl and learning from the best. Hifumi, quite the shogi prodigy and celebrity used it as a safe space and he spent quite some time playing with her in his free time.
Ren begins the game, nothing too special for a first move.)
It's fine. Why besides you?
no subject
[She waited for him to go and moves a Lancer. it's not a very impressive move. She's just remembering how the game is played really, and it wasn't like she expected to beat him.]
I'm not exactly a people person, so it's better to just assume "Parsee is Parsee" and I'm asking about the others.
no subject
(She is not wrong. Ren does appreciate her insight and company!!! Even if she's not a bundle of joy!!! It's just not a problem, although it kind of comes at no surprise that she is like this, even at a happy time. She is a spirit of envy and jealousy, after all. He has already accepted this.
Next move. Still nothing too impressive.)

[She dipped her head a little, the hair covering her face while she looked down at the pieces. She was taking a long time in making what ended up being a very basic and almost predictable retort to his placement. It was going to be amateur hour here today, but that wasn't the important part.]
Ren. It's harder for me now than it is if it's just one. This is hell for me. I see each of you being happy. Getting to know each other. And I imagine you making friends. Falling in love, tearing each other apart. Starting over again. It's all so normal.
[tok went the piece.]
It's all so bright. Times like this, I feel how little I belong more intensely.
no subject
Nobody knows anything about anything, we're all displaced and not belonging. Maybe you can create a place where you belong here.
(He will definitely get shot down in 3...2...1...)
no subject
I have a place, Ren. It's under a bridge, forgotten and out of everyone's hair. Where I belong. [She sounded annoyed.] I'm sure changing who you are is easy for you to do, but I've been this for over a thousand years. Do you think I can just wake up and say 'Oh, I think I'll be sociable today. Get myself some new friends?'
...
Why do you care so much? Am I some sort of project to you? Is this part of how you work, hero boy? Make friends, get allies, solve the mystery, save the world? [she growled a little.] Where am I fitting in that little plan of yours?
no subject
So when she lashes out, he just raises an eyebrow, taking out two pieces of from her in the game and putting them in his blazer pocket.)
Take it as you want, Parsee. (After all, she doesn't seem to hear much.) I am not saying you should change overnight.
1/2
She made another move silently. This one actually looked like a sensible move.]
Ngh...
2/2
[Her head hung again a little and she sighed, sounding tired. Just very very tired. People didn't make this effort, least of all humans. Yuugi was fucking stubborn as hell. You didn't tell an oni to stop it. They wouldn't listen. She was used to it. He was just... stubborn.]
You realize that I'm going to hurt you, don't you Ren? You know the stories. I'm not a nice spirit. Why do you keep trying? Is it because of something about you, or is it me?
no subject
Unfortunately to Parsee, none of the people around Ren and Ren himself can be put in the category of "normal humans". All stubborn, determined.)
You can either accept I am not just leaving you to be miserable or keep trying to find an explanation and frustrating yourself. I don't have one for you.
(In the end, it's her decision.)
no subject
He was good at this. Now she had a reason to keep paying attention to him. To try and squint until she read his mind and figured out what he was doing, so she could throw it in his face. And to that end, she was squinting right at him.]
Fine. I can accept that, but you're stuck with me trying to figure out what makes you tick.
...
If I ever tell you to run, though. Listen to me, would you?
no subject
Unfortunately to Parsee, there is not much that would make run in the opposite direction. He had literally just dethroned and defeated a God not long before winding up here. Protag energy?
He chuckles at the mention of what makes him tick, though. Good luck, Parsee! And with that, he finishes his round, a guaranteed win no matter where she goes.)
no subject
She looked down at the board and folded her arms, grunting.]
Pretty sure you have me. Not sure if I should give up and go inside like a good girl and try to mingle or stubbornly play this out.
no subject
Rematch?
no subject
[She wasn't actually that good at the game even if she'd been young when it was young. But hey, it did sound good when he thought that, didn't it?]
no subject
(His thin fingers rearrange the board, calmly as ever, almost like she hadn't really snapped at him a few moments ago.
It's fine. Ren knows there's something about him that makes it very easy to get under people's skin.
With the board set, he cracks his knuckles, making the first move.)
no subject
[She only sounded a tiny bit irritated as she said that, moving her next piece. The strategy was more aggressive, more confident. It might or might not win. Didn't matter. She was starting to get a feeling that this wasn't about the Shogi.
He wasn't wrong. He could really get under the skin, but a lot of this was her. Anyone could get under her skin by trying to get close. Most of the others were keeping it casual, civilized, pleasant. But they weren't delving. He was ...infuriating]
no subject
(He cannot stress this enough, apparently.
Her strategy was rushed, and aggressiveness doesn't often translate into a good move in such games. His next move leaves her stranded.)
no subject
[He next move was aggressive too, but this one was a feint. Bait to trap one of his better pieces. Would have been a great move if drops were allowed and she got away with it, but she was really old fashioned. Still, you could use aggressive tactics now and then.]
That road goes both ways, you know. Think what you want.
no subject
Ren can tell that it's a trap - maybe because of how she was playing earlier, or just because of experience. He did train with a sogi champion celebrity, after all.
He'll bite. Let's see.)
no subject
Small, pyrrhic victories, but they were part of the game. Of course if she kept playing like this, it would be one of those games won because one side had worn down most of the pieces. Not the most elegant of victories.]
You're an odd one, Ren.
no subject
(Her victory didn't last long, because his next move overpowered the board.
He does wonder though, what is it that she finds odd exactly. There were several reasons for people back home to think so, none of them relevant or known here.
He's curious, but quiet.)
no subject
[Grunt. Yeah, this was predictable. her head wasn't even in the right place for a proper game. He was getting under her skin a little, but in a very different way from Kaiba. It made her frown some while she stared down at the board and thought longer than necessary about her next, futile move. The act was helpful if she wanted to avoid making eye contact.]
When people tell you there's a fire, are you the sight to run towards it or away?
no subject
With the question, though, he looks up with a grin - at this point, shouldn't she know the answer, since she calls him out on it ever so often?)
I don't think I need to answer it at this point.
