Maybe you heard through word of mouth, or got an invite from the barista and barkeep directly, or spotted the handwritten paper invites hung up around the area, but there is a gathering happening at the Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café TODAY! So feel free to stop by, hang out, have some drinks, and share some stories.

🍺 DRINKS: Coffee will be served by Ren, and Tifa will be handling the other drinks. There's a wide variety behind the bar, ranging from alcoholic to the non-alcoholic, with delicious cocktails (yes, including virgin ones for the minors) to pick from. And before you ask - no, if you are underage, you may not have alcohol. Tifa will be very strict about it, and anyone who tries to bypass her imposed law will be subject to room temperature tapwater for the rest of the party.

🎲 GAMES: Various boardgames that came along with Le Blanc will be made available for all to play, including a Shogi board for the strategically inclined (and whoever knows how the heck to play it). Along the side wall are two pinball machines, and while they don't light up and make sounds, the mechanisms inside them still work, so they aren't completely out of the picture! Next to them, between the jukebox and the door is a dart board. Please do be mindful when throwing darts, as the light filtering into the bar through the front windows is very minimal.

🤔 INFORMATION EXCHANGE: The important part! When all are gathered inside the bar, Tifa and Ren will make a small announcement for everyone:

"Now that we've all had the chance to take a look around and get our bearings, I wanna encourage everyone to exchange what you know, or what you've found. Even share it with the rest of us! Locations, ideas, theories - anything that could be useful in helping us all figure this out. We all come from different worlds, but we're stuck here, so we're in this together until we're not, yeah? Let's make friends and play nice, and most importantly, have fun today! Oh, and if you're coming and going, make sure to close the door nice and tight behind you."

"It's nice to see everyone. Since we're stuck here together, let's cooperate well."

[ that's gonna be a yikes for her too. she leans her arm into the bar counter and props her head up against a closed fist, mulling over her thoughts silently. or, well, as silent as a crowded bar/cafe hybrid can be with 30-some people in it! after a few moments she pushes her head back up and straightens her posture, ready to deliver. ]

I don't like sand, I love sky jumping, and one of my best friends is a droid.

[ Ice-type Trainers are a strange breed... says the Dragon-type Trainer wearing a dragon hoodie. but that's totally not weird.

he slouches a bit, watching her focus to see if he can catch a glimpse of something that will give her away. it's difficult - her poker face is admirable. ]

I'm requesting a clarification! [ he gives his best innocent smile, hoping she'll be kind to him. ] I want to make sure I have all the facts before I commit. By "droid", do you mean like an android?

Sort of.

[ a smile cracks up on her lips, remembering not everyone would be familiar with the terminology. it's an adjustment she'll have to make with time. she doesn't want to give away the answer, but it's only fair to clarify. ]

Droids are machines with artificial intelligence, designed to fill a function. They communicate in binary - beeps, chimes, whistling. Only some are designed to communicate in common languages, and only because they need to fill a function that requires it. Does that help?

Yep! Robots. Got it. [ he knows robots! he met one today, so that obviously makes him an expert. ] I guess that means that being your friend isn't out of the question... but would that mean that its "function" is to be your friend?

[ that would be... a little sad??? he thinks??? ] But it sounds like they're a pretty commonplace thing for you, so maybe it's more complicated than that... and now I'm starting to think I went too easy on you with my choices!

[ if he knew he was allowed to use world-specific jargon, he definitely would have done it! but it's too late now, and he has a game to win. his brow knits, focusing as he mulls it over...

fuck it. ] Know what? I'm gonna go with my gut and say that not liking sand is the lie. At least, I hope it's is, because sandstorms are awesome.

[ a gentle laugh comes out at his decision. ]

Got me. Not big on sandstorms though. I'm sand-neutral. [ she shrugs her shoulders. ] My brother is the one who hates sand. Says it's coarse and complains about how it gets everywhere. He was born on a desert planet.

[ that's probably weird to say too though, isn't it? the idea of everyone coming from different planets is normal to her, but she's already gotten an idea from talking with others that it isn't that common. ]

The droid in question assists in starship functionality, like with navigation and repairs. [ she taps a finger to her cheek and then looks to his pokemon. ] We're friends because we work together, not because of programming. I guess it's kind of like your friend here - only mine isn't organic.

Yes! [ he pumps his fist! called it. ] I guess I'd get the annoyance if it came out of nowhere, but we're usually the ones making the sandstorms.

[ he looks quite proud at that! an entirely different planet, though... he's bewildered as he listens to her talk about droids and the like, trying to compare it to something other than sci-fi movies he's seen. there's really no comparison - their worlds are completely different, but that's what makes him so interested! ]

That's amazing... we haven't even gotten people touched down on other planets yet, let alone have them be born on them! [ the fact that he's talking to what he would consider an "alien" hasn't quite clicked yet. ] I definitely get that, though. Duraludon and I are practically joined at the hip!

[ there's a special bond in that kind of partnership, and he's glad Ashoka understands - plenty of people tend to think that because Pokémon are caught in Poké Balls, they'll obey without question. that couldn't be farther from the truth! ]

It's not so weird. A lot of planets haven't progressed to space travel yet. May just mean yours is farther off, or in another galaxy entirely from mine.

[ said all so casually, not at all thinking it to be anything but normal. she looks again to his pokemon, duraludon, and smiles. it looks so adorable, but saying that aloud may come off as insulting. ]

So, how did you meet Duraludon?

I'm gonna go with the "another galaxy" theory. It sounds cooler!

[ it's also another way to explain how all of them are here and from completely different realities, right? wibbly wobbly, timey wimey, spacey wacey stuff.

Duraludon looks right back at her, blinking curiously. he'd probably attempt a smile if he had the facial structure to do so, but he doesn't, so this is about as friendly as he can get without getting closer. being called cute definitely wouldn't be insulting, though - as far as Raihan is concerned, you can be cute and strong at the same time! both Pokémon and Trainer are proof of that, if you were to ask him. ]

It's a long story. Are you sure you want to hear it? [ it's not actually that long, but Raihan is dramatic that way. he also loves talking about himself, so if his smile is any indicator, he's hoping that she says yes. ]

Long story, huh? Well, lucky for us, we have plenty of time for long-winded tales.

[ it's a clear hook and she can sense his enthusiasm. the only time someone doesn't want to tell a story is when they clamp up. she's thankful he's upfront, it means less time prodding on her end! ]

Brilliant! Get comfortable, then.

[ before everyone had started mingling with drinks, Raihan had stepped up at the call for voluntary information sharing to talk about Hammerlocke and his world. he had seen Ahsoka listening, so he's confident that he can bypass the explanation of Pokémon Gyms - it'll help to streamline the story, thankfully. his smile softens as he begins to recount the memory: ]

I didn't start my career with Duraludon, believe it or not. I met him out in the Wild Area - it's this gigantic expanse of land in the middle of the Galar region, where I'm from. Wild Pokémon roam free in it without the worry of human development disturbing their habitats, but Trainers are allowed to pass through on their travels. When we first met, this bloke was way out of my league. He was so strong that he sent me and my team running with our tails between our legs!

[ Raihan gives him a nudge with his elbow, to which Duraludon response with a good-natured roll of his eyes. ever the spitfire, Raihan tended to pick fights that he couldn't follow through with at a young age. ]

But every time I won a gym badge, I came back to the same place to find and challenge him again. I wanted to show him how strong I'd gotten, and prove myself by catching him. I must have come back at least six times... and every time, he sent me packing. It was bloody frustrating, but looking back, I think it kept me grounded.

[ a guy who calls himself "the great Raihan", grounded? it's more likely than you think... and maybe telling that his showboating isn't all there is to him. ]

Eventually it got to the point where I hit a road block in my challenge; there was one Gym Leader that I just couldn't beat, no matter how hard I tried. Back then, I think I was really close to just giving up on the challenge completely. I came back to the Wild Area to do some thinking, but when I made my way to Duraludon's territory, I found him injured. It took some convincing for him to let me, but I managed to fix him up enough that he could re-challenge the wild Pokémon that roughed him up. I didn't mean to intervene, but when I was watching them go at it, I found myself shouting an order... and he obeyed! Can you believe that?

[ Duraludon's eyes lower, as if he's reminiscing about the encounter. the Tyranitar he had faced was hoarding food and bullying other Pokémon in the area, so he had tried to step in, but got knocked down. he was on the same track even after Raihan arrived, but listening to the human's orders had actually given him a tactical advantage. ]

It was close, but we managed to send the wild Pokémon running. Even though it felt good to help him win, I was still pretty down from my Gym losses, and I wasn't about to battle him when he was weakened again. Imagine my surprise when he said he wanted to come with me!

[ as if he can't hold it in anymore, he puts his arms around Duraludon for a proper hug, pressing his cheek against the side of the Pokémon's face. though he seems exasperated at his Trainer's affection, Duraludon returns it with a slight push. ]

And the rest is history, I guess. He helped me get past that Gym I was roadblocked at, and took me all the way to the Champion Cup finals. We've been training together ever since, and he's my ace in all of my battles!

[ there's a lot to take in with his story, and the picture it paints. though much of it is painted with the guidance of his words, having no context for the world he has lived and his experience. what she does know is the bitter taste of defeat, wanting to get to the next stage, and gritting your teeth through challenge. it also astounds her how duraludon reacts, easily understanding raihan as she does, that it makes her see just how much intelligence pokemon have.

she breathes out a warm laugh when raihan goes in for the hug, admiring their bond, and thinking of the ones she has had in her battles. with good men and women... it stings thinking what has become of them now and she must endeavor to grasp onto this moment of light. ]

You're quite the storyteller. I don't get all of it, but I got what matters. Reminds me of... well, combat I suppose. The shared bond you get when you work together, battling through thick and thin, never surrendering even when things look grim. ...Did you win your Champion Cup in the end?

Told you it was long. [ he lets Duraludon go, re-adjusting himself cross-legged in his chair. ] What can I say? I'm an interesting guy!

Yeah... sorry about that. It's kind of hard to talk about where we come from without using a bunch of jargon. [ he's learned as much from talking to everyone not from his world so far. thankfully, she's gotten the gist of it. ] That's exactly it! The rest of my team are as fierce as they come, but I don't think I'd be where I am now without Duraludon.

[ you might expect him to say yes with the way he's smiling, but- ] Nope! That honour went to my rival. It was a good battle, but we got creamed in the end...

There's always the next battle.

[ not immediately, they're stranded here for the time being, but in time they'll figure a way off. that's not important to dwell on right now. ]

Don't worry about the jargon either. Turns out I have a similar problem. None of you seem to know anything about space travel, or different races of people. Kind of surprised how well you're taking it really.

[ maybe it has to do with not being the only non-human? she's grateful for it even as she's astonished. ]

That's been my motto! [ for the past ten years... after losing every time... ] I've gotten stronger with each one, so I can't be too bummed out. That's the whole point of having a rival!

[ Leon had always maintained that he was kept on his toes as Champion because of Raihan, and he'll always take that as a point of pride. even if Raihan wasn't the one to steal that "undefeated" title, that doesn't mean that their rivalry has ended. he's come to terms with that, frustrating as it was to have been beaten to the punch. ]

I'm just trying to keep an open mind. [ he chuckles, allowing himself a moment of bashfulness. ] It's one heck of a learning curve, but it's like you said - we're sort of in the same boat. You took seeing Duraludon better than most people, too!

[ hearing his name, Duraludon looks between the two of them before lingering his gaze on Ahsoka. he lacks the cheeks and lips to smile, so he just sort of... opens his maw a little. ]

[ a rival, huh. did she ever have one of those? maybe ventress, but it kind of sounds like rivals are meant to be friendly. the only other padawan she was close to was barriss and that ended... badly. for both of them, for everyone involved at the end of the day.

at least duraludon is here to open his maw at her and warm her heart. a pure presence. ]

I've seen a lot of things around the galaxy. Duraludon is one of the cutest. [ anyone who doesn't agree just doesn't get it. look at him! ] I figure you two always travel together, but if you ever need someone to look after him for a while just let me know.

[ just throwing it out there, no big. ]

[ technically rivalries are supposed to be friendly - the whole point of them is to challenge one another to get stronger, though Raihan has seen a few in challengers his day whose rivalries ended up more antagonistic than supportive. there's only so much growth that one can get from a relationship like that. ]

No kidding? [ that makes Raihan's eyes practically sparkle, and Duraludon's seem to soften as well. ] That means a lot. He doesn't get compliments like that too often - not that calling him cool or strong is a bad thing, but I happen to think his cuteness is totally overlooked!

[ he knew he'd like what she had to say after their game, but now he respects her for her objectively excellent taste. getting that sort of comment from someone who has been to entirely different planets just hits different. ] We usually stay together, yeah. But if you're that keen on spending time with him, all you need to do is ask! He's not too talkative around strangers, but I think he's already warming up to you.

[ indeed Duraludon looks a little more docile than he did when Raihan and Ahsoka had started talking. his gaze is turned towards the floor a little, giving the idea of bashfulness. Raihan grins between the two of them, knowing what that means. ]

You can pet him, if you want! He's basically a huge baby.

[ she blinks, her smile tilting up with the permission, and looks down to duraludon. his gaze is down on the ground, so ahsoka carefully slips off her seat and takes a step forward. ]

Hey there.

[ she reaches out her hand and moves it up slow to set it down on the middle of his head. he's a couple inches taller than her, but she has no qualms pushing herself up slightly on the tips of her feet. ]

[ Raihan looks on with a smile, watching to see how she reacts to Duraludon. he's found in his time here that it doesn't matter whether or not you're familiar with Pokémon - the look that he sees in Ahsoka's eyes isn't unlike the one that he sees in Trainers with real drive. it's interesting how universal it is, especially in circumstances like this.

though his steely body is cool to the touch, the low, pleased draconic rumble that he lets out when Ahsoka pets him invokes the fact that he is very much alive. he looks down at her with calm eyes, understanding she means no harm as he opens his maw slightly to "smile". ]

See what I mean? Don't let the steel fool you - he's as soft as they come.
