@ takoba beach
So, Yugi wanders the beach to see what has washed up on shore and to check out what is actually trash. Sometimes the trash is just as interesting as the items that actually work. He hasn't found anything he wants to take back to his room yet, but he picks up an object every now and then to take it apart or to put something back together or just to keep his hands busy. For now, it's what looks like it might be a waterlogged and very damaged handheld system, but-- who knows. Maybe it's something else. That's how mangled it is. Probably isn't useful at all.
Except, shoot. That was a bad idea. Apparently removing that one thing caused a minor tower of trash to collapse into itself quite loudly. Oops. Hopefully there's no one around to witness that dumb move.]
no subject
[ Unfortunately, someone did see that move, but that someone - a young woman in a pink dress, grinning - seems sympathetic. ] You okay?
[ A pile of trash falling on you would still be unpleasant, after all. She approaches, tilting her head curiously as she studies the young man on the beach. ]
Find anything good?
no subject
Yeah, all good! I thought it'd be small enough to not be a problem but... [Well, the evidence shows otherwise.]
I wouldn't say it's good necessarily, but if you squint it sort of looks like it might have been a game at some point? Or maybe it belongs in a kitchen. I thought I'd hold it until I figured it out or something better popped up.
[And he shows off the prize in his hand, which looks... well, like whatever it is will never work again.] Are you looking for something?
no subject
[ Who knew a trashy beach could be such a good locale for deep thought? ...But, as she often is, Aerith is distracted by the new face, and she retains the polite smile. ]
I'm Aerith. ...Oh, you know? If you find anything that looks like a decent watering can, that's something I'd be interested in!

...
Her eyes popped open. She knew that face. Not personally, but she'd seen a lot of Kaiba's memories of him by now. Raising one eyebrow, she looked him over and frowned. The first words out of her mouth came without even a blink.]
You're... shorter than I expected.
no subject
Ah, short comments. He's pretty accepting of those. But, well, if she recognizes him, then his first thought is going to be to apologize for not being able to do the same.]
Ah, sorry... have we met?
no subject
[She got down to a crouch and started looking through the junk as the two of the started to talk, glancing over at him with those weird jade eyes of hers. They seemed to sparkle, just a little, but she wasn't quite looking in his direction, as if she was accustomed to looking away from people when she talked to them. That much, at least, was a little true. She wasn't great about getting close to people after all.]
Name's Parsee. Saw you before. In Kaiba's head. You show up there a lot.
(OOC: Oooh before I proceed, just wanted to check. She's picked up a new ability as a 'pure' spirit [hah] in the setting - Empathy. She can read emotions and some surface thoughts. You mind if we incorporate those, or would you rather not?)

"C-careful," she manages once she's done coughing. "There are some nasty critters that live 'round here, ya wouldn't want to attract their attention." But judging by the rainbow sword on her hip and the old-fashioned rifle on her back, she seems prepared for such an eventuality.
sorry for the delay!
At least, that's his logic going into this conversation. "Ah, really? I haven't seen anything yet, but thanks for the warning! So far it's just been..." He vaguely gestures at the junk surrounding them. "Are you looking for them or something?" Yugi asks, while clearly eyeing those eye-catching weapons.
Is that a couple of tin cans shuddering to life near the shoreline?
no subject
"Naw. They're just not somethin' ya wanna tangle with if ya don't hafta." She gives the boy -- about her height -- a surveying glance; he doesn't look much like a fighter. Still, appearances can be deceiving, so she won't make any judgements just yet. "Especially if yer unarmed."
She's not too worried about the stubbies; they're slow enough to just run from, and are small enough that they're not usually life-threatening even if you can't get away. In large enough numbers, perhaps... but still, it's the big, fluffy robots she's concerned with. She was able to fight one a while back, in order to take its fur for herself, but when she's sick like this... well, now she's going to do her best to avoid battle too.

W-whoa! [ That was the sound of a yelp but...a slightly artificial sounding one? ]
That was close...
no subject
But then that leaves the option of the sound coming from something that could be surprised! Yugi pokes around the now settled heap to see who is on the other side.]
Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! I didn't realize anyone else was here. Are you okay?
no subject
I'm okay! Thank you for your concern. [ They offered a small smile. ]
I was... I was just a little surprised by the pile moving all of a sudden, that's all.

@ arcade (MARKETzone)
It's no surprise that he is drawn to the arcade. He loves all games. That's why it's such a tease when he realizes that, after trying a good number of them, none of them seem to be turning on.]
Are they really all broken...? What's the point in that?
[No sign of a cat-potato hybrid one just yet either.]
i'm not sure if we're keeping the TDM canon so have an in between sort of thing! 8D
Mm, I don't really come here often other than with Seto to help him move stuff, but I've noticed that if there's a storm, electronics have a better chance of working. So maybe if we have a thunderstorm, they'll work!
[ It's a temporary distraction, at least, from her fruitless search. ]
Actually, Seto and I moved some to his apartment so he could take a look at them and see if he couldn't fix them. He's pretty good with this kinda thing, so maybe he can figure it out.
i'm good either way! let's say yes so that cookie wager assistance is still viable??
Hey! Is that right? I'll have to try another time then. The weather looks pretty clear right now...
[But he's quickly learned that doesn't really mean anything when it comes to forecasting the next bit of weather.]
If he does manage to fix any, I'll have to ask nicely if he'll share. Is that why you're here? To scout out some more?
That sounds like a plan~

They've actually become somewhat okay at judging which games are likely to actually work, so they've found a stool and are sitting at and playing some sort of strange running game. They don't seem to have noticed anyone is there, though they themselves are likely to be quite noticeable, both visually in that they are a large robot, and aurally in that they're one of the only sources of electronic noise.)
^^ same comment as with ann, i'm down with keeping the tdm canon if you are?
Unsurprisingly, Yugi follows the sound of gaming and electronic noises and fun to its source.]
Hey there! I didn't realize anyone else was here. Or that anything was working.
[The comment doesn't come until there is a very clear pause or lull in the game so he doesn't interrupt. Games are serious business.]
That works, it'll have to be a little fuzzy cause of weird timing, but it works.

Could ask the same thing about a lot of the stuff here.
[Like the library inside a gas station.]
You a fan of arcade games?
no subject
I guess that's true. Kind of disappointing though, since the whole point of a game is to be played.
[The people, however, he has found to be nice and their kindness so far has not been strange in the least. So he isn't wary at all in his responses.]
Arcade games are fun, but any kind of game would be a bonus in my book. Honestly, I'm not too picky.

[Espio - a young man with a mishmash of draconic features including tail, wings and horns - only vaguely caught the teen talking to himself as he wandered by, but he canโt help but comment. He stops for a moment, giving the lad a quick once over as he wonders if heโs seen him before.
No, he doesnโt think he has. He must be new here, then... well, Espioโs not up to anything important, so he might as well stop to chat a little.]
...youโre a new face.
no subject
[Which answer's Espio's question (statement?) pretty well. Yugi looks over his shoulder and shrugs good-naturedly at the comment. He's seen enough of the other residents in this place at this point to not be completely taken aback by Espio's appearance, but he does take it in curiously. It isn't anything like anyone else that he's seen -- not to mention... dragons (and draconic features) are pretty cool to most teenagers in his world.
It's obvious that he's new now, but he answers anyway, giving a friendly smile.]
You caught me. I'm Yugi Mutou, it's nice to meet you.

@ heavenly blanc bar & cafรฉ (closed to kaiba)
He could have been nicer about it rather than just... walking away but. Well. That part wasn't really unexpected. It was maybe even a bit nostalgic.
It is this way that Yugi finds himself sitting at a little table in a cozy corner of the building, nursing a cup of tea in front of one (1) Seto Kaiba with the intention of exchanging information. At least, that's mostly the intention. He may also be secretly glad to have something a little less abrupt so that he can get a good look at this Kaiba who has been here 'what feels like months' and gauge how he is. And maybe, also, just a little bit, to enjoy the kind of casual setting they never got back home.]
After that weather, I wasn't really expecting the places here to look so normal. [Mentioned offhandedly, delaying the exchange.] It's nice though.
[How strange that it takes being sent to another land that may or may not transcend time and space or erase memories to be in a position to sit down with him in a cafรฉ, conversing without the potential of a duel in sight.]
no subject
Even if Kaiba had to resort to preparing his own coffee.Nicer wasn't generally in Kaiba's vocabulary. No. Yugi was meant to know what those actions meant and comply; which he had.
You consider this.... normal? [Waving a hand to indicate that perhaps there was something peculiar about this structure Yugi hadn't considered. The mismatched menus and lighting weren't exactly the most damning evidence, but the exterior looked more rough than the interior with the thick pipes running in and out of the building and the general look of dilapidation. Aside from that, despite having been cobbled together via the combination of Cafรฉ Leblanc and 7th Heaven it wasn't all that bizarre. Kaiba was nitpicking.]
[The unusual circumstances had led to this almost unnatural scenario. He certainly never envisioned himself sitting casually across from Yugi Mutou to have a chat. Outwardly there wasn't really a noticeable difference in Kaiba. Internally was another story. He would be lying if he said this place hadn't had an effect on him, and lying about that was almost a certainty.]
Let's get some of the more obvious questions out of the way first. [Sitting him his chair with both his arms and legs crossed, he let his steaming cup of coffee rest on the table as he spoke] No one knows who is behind this or what's truly going on. Originally there wasn't any sort of landscape, there was nothing but white for as far as the eye can see. Progressively over time the topography has altered and various establishments and creatures just appeared.. there is one common thread between them, and that is they represent ideas contributed by those gathered here but warped and combined into new creations. Like this cafรฉ we're sitting in as elements from two different businesses infused into each other.
I should note that the natural laws don't always apply in the manner we would expect them too either. For a time, sleep and sustenance were unnecessary now both are required and there were consequences for having shirked in tending to these basic needs beforehand. [Yeah... not having to eat or sleep suited Kaiba just fine so it was a rude awakening] I suspect this is a highly advanced simulation of some kind, but the consensus among the others tends to disagree with me.
no subject
You're nitpicking.
[An accusation, and maybe also a little bit of proof that This Yugi wasn't from the same place in time as This Kaiba. Though it certainly wouldn't help to rule out that it wasn't Yugi at all, if he was so inclined to believe that theory.]
[Still, Yugi shrugs, lets the token (and not-at-all very convincing) frown fall off his face after a moment.] It's not exactly what you'd find in Domino, but it looks like a regular building with some odd decorating choices. I wasn't expecting a cafรฉ to just... be here.
[But that's all he has to say about that. Now it's time to listen to Kaiba explain the laws of the Void to him. And, at the very least, Yugi does seem to be listening intently, trying to understand the rules of this game that he is now being forced to play. He sips at his tea while nodding along. It's another puzzle, but this is the first one in quite a long time that he has had to face without his closest ally to bounce ideas off of. Life had been so normal since then. Yugi didn't think it would be abnormal again but, well, here they were.]
You think this is a simulation? [He seems to mull over that for a moment during a sip, looking across at the empty tables behind Kaiba.] It wouldn't be the strangest thing. Not like we haven't dealt with something like that before, but... who would have that kind of technology? Outside of... [Well, KaibaCorp?]
