*Insert Clever Title Here*
Who: Legion and you
What: Exploring, Picking an apartment, performing experiments
Where: Various places
When: August
Content Warnings: None so far, will warn if something comes up in a thread
A)
(Tifa requested their assistance in restoring power to the Heavenly Blanc. This is not their designated function, but they will attempt it.
The first thing they discover is that there is no connected power source, no power lines or generators. A simple generator is not impossible to create, though it takes time to scrounge the necessary components, and is unlikely to work as a long term solution.
Still, they build one. Or at least … they try to.
Because that’s the problem: no matter what they do, how much work they put into constructing it, anything more than the simplest machinery doesn’t work.
At first, they don’t really believe it, assuming something is wrong with the connections, the wiring, the materials. They take things apart and reassemble them and then when that doesn’t work they recreate them entirely.
But eventually it becomes clear: generating electricity simply doesn’t work.
And so, they begin to … experiment.
By the time someone comes to check on them, they’ll have some wires connected from somewhere within the hole in their chest to a light, and seem very confused. They are functional, and yet their own internal power source apparently isn’t able to supply usable electricity.
They aren’t one to actually say it out loud, but their current thought process is something along the lines of: What the fuck?)
B)
(The Merlaut apartments appear to be the popular community choice for housing, and Legion isn’t an exception. Like so many others, they choose a spot on the third floor, with a good view of the lake and forest.
Though their choice of apartment on the third floor is not particularly unique, their choices when it comes to personalization are, at least to a degree. They have no need for a bed, so that’s the first thing to go: they take it down to the lobby and grab a nice comfy loveseat instead.
The next renovation is a bit more time consuming. They are able to, with a bit of convincing, collect some paint from the local wildlife. It would, perhaps, be easier to simply ask them to draw for them, but the images in their memory are very exact, and they do not wish for them to be altered.
Fortunately, they are also very simple.
Copied with exacting perfection are a series of childish drawings of cats and flowers and all sorts of other things, including a crude drawing of themselves. Ren had drawn all over their home in Enso, and just as they preserved them there, they will do so here. These drawings cover the walls on all sides of the little studio apartment, a very odd addition to an otherwise non artistic space. Even the picture already on the wall is removed to make room for showcasing the drawings.
They hope that, wherever she is, Ren is doing well.
Anyway, for the last change they make (aside from cleaning the sink), they add a second plant to the windowsill. It’s a wild thing, taken from the forest, and they’ve planted it in a chipped pot scrounged from the beach. Keeping it here is part of an experiement: they wish to observe whether it changes in time with the greenery below.)
C)
(A ...religious establishment?
The architecture suggests that that is, in fact, what the Lemon Cello church is. But the decorations suggest something entirely different. An eating establishment?
Perhaps, they think, it is a church renovated to be a restaurant. Though that would have likely resulted in the hole in the floor being patched. Perhaps it was left open intentionally? There is a garden growing there.
They go to inspect said garden, admiring the health of the plants. They’re very gentle, careful not to step on or damage anything, and they chatter their pleasure at the well kept greenery. It’s probably weird seeing a machine enjoy nature as much as they are, but they do inherit programs from an agricultural unit, and know the time and effort it takes to care for flora, even if their experience lies in tending fields more than gardens.
They wonder: whose memories did this location come from?
Perhaps, they think, it is a combination of multiple memories. It would explain the mismatched aesthetic.)
D)
Error.
(They stare at the string of gibberish that has been painted on a building wall.
They have been attempting to teach the natives (smeargle?) to write, but it’s not going well: though they have shown the ability to copy words perfectly, they appear to experience difficulty when trying to say something of their own-the words become incoherent gibberish.
They clearly comprehend language, and their artistic creations show capacity for original work-is there something about them that prevents proper writing?
It is … troubling.)

It is possible answers may only create further questions.
(That's their experience so far at least. What does it mean if they are a god?)

no subject
(They finish disconnecting themselves from the light, and begin work on getting everything back in its proper place. Probably a little disconcerting to watch someone work on their own guts so casually.)
However, if we are to be the "gods" of this world, we will need to "figure it out".
no subject
[She watched the process with mild fascination.]
Are you ok with being a creator?
no subject
Want is irrelevant: this world and its lifeforms exist regardless of our desires.
no subject
no subject
Now that it is created, it is not our right to destroy it. Regardless of desire, we cannot "take it back".
(They headtilt.)
You are not allowed self-determination?
no subject
I determined my nature a long time ago. Certain parts of that won't ever change again.
no subject
Acknowledged.
no subject
[She was really getting used to the economy of responses in the Geth. It didn't add details when they weren't necessary, did it?]
How much free will do you have? I'm curious. Are you completely free to decide your fate, outside of the external of course.
no subject
(It is, they think, the most truthful way to answer the question, given the difficulties related to defining and understanding the nature of freewill.)
no subject
So, you're like organics that way, only different parts?
no subject
(Essentially.)
no subject
Those different parts. They cause issues between you and humans, don't they? [She'd seen long enough of human history. She knew one thing about humans. They hated different things.]
no subject
(It was a Human who betrayed them in the end, but there's actually a whole galaxy of aliens who are also shitheads!)
Do you also experience "issues"?
no subject
Youkai and Humans haven't gotten along for a long time, but that's just fear. Some of us eat them, so it's a predator prey thing. The prey can fight back and they do. They just don't realize we come into existence because of them, their flaws and their regrets. We are them, in a way. Humans are stupid.
The real problems is that they forgot about us, and ... it got so bad that when they didn't believe hard enough some of us stopped existing. And we'd react even more violently to get their attention, and it ballooned out of control, so for both our sake we walled ourselves into a corner of the world they forgot existed where we could live in peace and they could just have their shitty little world with all its bright lights.
[Man, she sounded bitter, but that was normal. A grunt. A shake of the head.]
I don't think our situation's comparable. We found a way to work it out. Your situation seems different, and I think there should be some kind of coexistence.
no subject
But that is not what catches their attention. They are not unfamiliar with lack of self worth, and Parsee's words give them pause.)
You do not "appear" shitty to our perspective.
(They are, they think, entirely too familiar with a multitude of shitty personalities. Many of whom the general populace might see as good, or even admirable.)
no subject
You're different. Very alien to my experience. It makes it almost easier to talk to you.
no subject
(Experience has taught them: they cannot argue away another's sense of self loathing.
But the point stands: Legion cares little about the general "shittiness" of her personality and more about how she has treated them.)
You experience negative feelings towards those similar to yourself?
(She's 100% right about them being alien though. She's also alien from their perspective: they're having trouble even beginning to comprehend this.)
no subject
[she grunted. A guy divorces and throws her to her curb, but he was in the right because she was the monster. Bah. Fuck that noise.]
Hashihime are like that. There's an old folk wisdom. Never mention the bridge watched over by another Hashihime on one's bridge, or they'll curse you or worse. It's pretty much true. I don't get mad talking about it, but it's good there's only one of us in such a small place.
We're territorial creatures by nature.
no subject
(They are, after all, literally 1,183 Geth all crammed together into one body to make a person.)
no subject
Human society's not simple.
no subject
(The Geth literally cannot function alone: Legion is the closest to an individual who has ever existed.)
However, it is also our weakness: when separated, we are diminished.
no subject
[Important info.]
no subject
(Possibly more info there than anyone really wanted, but they don't wear clothes, so it shouldn't really be news.)
Geth are software: new programs are created using the memories and perspectives of contributing programs as seeds. It is likely any new programs created would be an extension of us, until a sufficient quantity existed to create new networks. However, this platform's capacity to host additional programs is limited.
