[ Their mental well-being had taken a beating for sure--when the memory swapping incident's jab hit one way, the nightmare's hook hit another way, and that left them reeling to put it mildly. If nothing else, they were home now, or at least the closest thing they had to home. As they entered the apartment that still felt so empty without Alys, they let out a heavy sigh.
Whatever Turing was expecting upon their return, it wasn't this.
That was their easel and canvases set up neatly in the middle of the room, along with a very familiar looking box. Turing rushed over to the box, though in their haste they stumbled over their own feet and tumbled to the floor right in front of it. Oof. Their quick trip to the floor did little to deter them, and they scrambled to their knees to open the box and see some very familiar looking tubes of paint and other supplies. They hadn't seen these in a very long time, or at least it had felt that way. It was something positive and familiar; two things they desperately needed at the moment.
Without even a second thought, they began carting their easel and everything else outside of the apartment complex with an uncharacteristic disregard for how much noise they were making. It took a few trips to boot, oops. They would offer apologies later, but for now there was art to be made! ]
[ taking a very long (and not nightmareish) rest, ahsoka had been spending little time at the apartment complex when she could be outside instead. however there was something she needed to grab back in her room, which put her on the path to a little droid carrying a lot in its arms.
Uh - [ she makes a small sound, cringing a little at the hard metal clanking sounds echoing in an otherwise silent hallway. ] - hey Turing, do you want any help?
Oh! [ Turing peeked around the load they were carrying and smiled. It was a stark contrast to all the seriousness that had hung over their last conversation. ]
Hello, Ms. Ahsoka! I would very much appreciate your help. [ The canvases on top obscured their vision the most, so that was an obvious choice. ]
Yes, I do! I didn't have my painting supplies when I first arrived here, but when I came back to my apartment today, I found all them there waiting for me. [ Which was...weird, but beggars couldn't be choosers, as they say. ]
This will be my first painting in a very long time!
Ren doesn't let them struggle before approaching and taking some of the objects into his own hands, moving outside with the tiny robot. The noise is not an issue, but seeing tiny robot have any difficulties sure is...)
[ Someday they will teach you the secret to their adorableness, Ren. Someday. Then, you will be unstoppable...!!
The help was much appreciated! It wasn't so much the weight that was the problem; it was more the fact that having everything stacked up meant they couldn't see where they were going, but that was just splitting hairs. Honestly it was a very good thing that Ren came to help before they had to go down any stairs or anything similar. ]
Yes! There's something very relaxing about being able to paint as well. I very much welcome it after...ah, recent events.
[ Painting outside was also helpful, even if the spot Turing eventually chose was still fairly close to the apartments. ]
The problem was that little robot couldn't do everything alone, so Ren is here to help! He carries as much as he can. He's been around Yusuke enough to sort-of-kind-of know where things go and whatnot, so he starts to help create the setting the best he could with the memories he has.)
[ While the fact that Ren knew how to set everything up was great, there was also another part that very much drew Turing's attention. In one way, that was a little unfortunate. ]
It is, thank you! Do you paint as well?
[ Surely that was the reason why he knew where everything went! ]
[ Actually getting to the gallery had been...a small hurdle. Water itself wasn't a problem, but not being able to swim was, so hopefully no one would mind if they tracked in a little water. Regardless of that, they were still there at the entrance to the gallery. Or rather, Galleria del Funghi. Turing's ability to translate a variety of languages plus the mushrooms adorning the outer structure made it very clear that the mushroom theme was likely to continue, but that was the least of Turing's worries. They had never visited a gallery before!
Their excitement aside, their path through the gallery was very logical and straightforward in that they went up and down each side of the hallways. Why? Well, to get a good look at everything that was on display without missing anything, of course. It didn't escape Turing's notice that even the artwork didn't escape the mushroom theme, but even if they were in paintings that they shouldn't have been in, this was still their only way of seeing high-profile works of art in person. It was different than just seeing images on the mesh, though Turing couldn't properly articulate why. It just felt different, and even feelings like those were begging to be transformed into art.
Unfortunately, the water meant that they couldn't bring anything to sketch with without it getting ruined. Maybe there was something nearby they could use? With that thought in mind, their search began! Anyone watching might have had a bad time though, as they passed by the room with the David statue.
...Multiple times. ]

[ Were their batteries finally running out? All of their diagnostics were coming back normal, but that had also happened when they had nearly passed out from hunger. Had Turing not been exhausted far beyond the point of being able to think clearly, they would have connected the dots, but alas. There was also the issue of the mementos and the nightmares they brought making the idea of sleep sound so much more unappealing. And so, the dim light around them persisted.
Maybe they were in the vicinity of Heavenly Blanc or Takoba Beach, but they also made their way back to Merlaut Apartments at some point. That was all well and good, except for one thing. If an apartment door was open, it was entirely likely that a very sleepy Turing would drag themselves into an apartment that wasn't theirs and crash on the closest soft surface.
[Lysandra had come home exhausted from an extended jog that had taken her farther away from her current home than she had expected. When she did find her way back to her apartments it took her a moment to notice something new had gotten there before her.
For a moment she looked Turing over before commenting.]
[ Turing was already out cold when Lysandra spoke up. They couldn't snore or, uh, breathe, but in place of that there was a soft electronic crescendo and an immediately following decrescendo that sort of mimicked the sound of breathing, if nothing else. While Turing did stir a bit, in the end all that happened was them rolling over and curling into a ball.
It was going to take a little more than that to wake them up. ]
You must be really tired, little guy. Let's see...
[The bird girl began tapping on Turing's head with one of her long talons. She felt a little bad interupting the small robot's sleep, but they could always go back to dozing once she found out how he had ended up here in the first place.]
[ It still took a good number of taps before Turing finally began to stir. They had gotten a chance to sleep when everyone was knocked out and sent to face their nightmares, but they still had a little extra sleep debt to pay off, and the void was definitely making sure they did so. There was a very soft whirring sound as their processes and hardware awoke from sleep mode, and despite the screen on their face being entirely cosmetic, their eyes still opened as they awakened. ]
[ Alys had promised to take them shopping after everything was over. Obviously they had never had a chance to do that before Turing was swept away, but it did make them hesitate. Was it OK to go shopping without them? ...No, Alys wasn't that petty. Surely they wouldn't be upset. With their already very favourable opinion of Alys reaffirmed, they carefully stepped into one the of clothing stores of Shibumenosaki, as if they felt on some level that they didn't belong there.
[ Yup. Definitely uncharted territory. Shoes were probably a lost cause, considering they were made for human feet, which Turing demonstrably did not have. The clothes were still feasible, if still tricky. Most were still much too large and it was to the point where they had to wonder if any clothes available here would need extensive tailoring to make them fit right. Hmmm...
That was when they looked up from the blazer in their arms and saw Raihan nearby. Maybe he would be willing to give them a little advice? They ran out of the clothing store; they kind of had to, considering the difference between the length of Raihan's stride and their own. ]
Mr. Raihan! Excuse me for the intrusion, but could I ask for your help with something?
[ while this is uncharted territory for Turing, Raihan is more or less in his element. it was definitely a bummer that the only clothes around here seem to be school uniforms, but a little creativity can style them into something more fashionable.
he's already taken a bag of cosmetics from the nurse's office, so his next stop is to peek his head into the clothing "store" to see if anything new had been added since the last time he was here. it's a little disappointing to see that nothing has, but that's negated by Turing calling out to him as he's leaving. he turns when he hears the pitter patter of the robot's steps, smiling down at him. ]
No intrusions here! How can the great Raihan assist?
[ 'The great Raihan'? While another person might have brushed aside or perhaps scoffed at the title, to them it didn't seem strange or out of the ordinary. In Turing's opinion, he was, in fact, great! ]
Well, I don't have any experience with clothing, but I would like to try. Unfortunately, I'm...feeling a little lost. I was hoping I could ask for some advice on where to start.
[ his fans love it, but Raihan wouldn't be surprised at anyone scoffing - his confident attitude is an acquired taste, but he's equally happy that Turing rolls with it. more importantly, however, is his dedication to helping his buddy out however he can! ]
So you're looking for fashion advice? [ that is... adorable. it's also very exciting because that just so happens to be Raihan's field of expertise! interested, he nods. ] You've picked just the right guy to consult! There's not too much of a selection around here, but I bet we can make something work.
[ he beckons for Turing to follow, doubling back to the classroom filled with uniform selections. ] The first step would be figuring out what style you like - we'll build from there!
[ Apropos of what might appear to be nothing, Turing sent a ping to Legion. That probably wasn't anything unusual in itself now that communication between machines was so much easier, but it was finally time to ask something that had been poking at them ever since they met Legion and saw all of those drawings on them.
The timing was also driven by something. That being that they still had some paint left on their palette after finishing a painting. Maybe Legion would like a particular image? What colours did they like best? Or maybe Turing would just get a flat out 'no.' That was also very possible and understandable! Regardless of that, those were still the thoughts they were having as they attempted to locate their Geth friend. ]
(Legion is, well, a Geth. Now that there's a network of sort that they can access again, they've got a dedicated program listening to it every hour they aren't sleeping. Usually there's not much: with just them and Turing, it's mostly sharing Bob Ross and music, checking on each other, and similar.
Still, they listen. And thus, it's not long before Turing gets a response to their ping.
Legion is in their apartment right now, little buddy. Since they need to sleep now, they switched out the couch they'd taken from the lobby for a bed again, and they've also been working on stocking the fridge with various foods. It's as good a time as any to bother them.)
[ Excellent! There was no need to rush, especially since they were still quite close by, but they did so regardless. Honestly, the sound of Turing's footsteps did very, very little to hide Turing's approach anyway. Still, they sent another ping to signal to Legion that they had arrived. They even knocked on the door for good measure!
Were they in a considerably better mood than the last time they saw each other in person? ...Perhaps. ]
(They can hear Turing coming, and get up to open the door.)
Greetings.
(They move aside to let their fellow robot in. Their apartment looks different than it did previously--swapping the couch for a bed has it closer to its original state, with the most obvious difference from Alys' apartment being that there are three plants instead of just the one. The flower from Tifa is still as fresh and alive as the day it was picked, and the plant from the forest is currently in its death state though that should change soon enough. The jade plant looks the same as any other.)
[ They ambled inside, being careful to keep their palette level and not leave a nice dollop of paint on the floor. That would be an exceptionally bad start. Of course, the plants drew their attention immediately, and while it was too bad that one wasn't doing so well at the moment, two out of three wasn't bad! It was good to see at least one of the Wilty clones still hanging in there. ]
I was wondering if I could ask you something. Would you be opposed to me adding to the drawings on your armour?
