What: Heavenly Blanc mingle and info exchange Where: The Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café When: "August 1"; but really, what is time Content Warnings: N/A Maybe you heard through word of mouth, or got an invite from the barista and barkeep directly, or spotted the handwritten paper invites hung up around the area, but there is a gathering happening at the Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café TODAY! So feel free to stop by, hang out, have some drinks, and share some stories. 🍺 DRINKS: Coffee will be served by Ren, and Tifa will be handling the other drinks. There's a wide variety behind the bar, ranging from alcoholic to the non-alcoholic, with delicious cocktails (yes, including virgin ones for the minors) to pick from. And before you ask - no, if you are underage, you may not have alcohol. Tifa will be very strict about it, and anyone who tries to bypass her imposed law will be subject to room temperature tapwater for the rest of the party. 🎲 GAMES: Various boardgames that came along with Le Blanc will be made available for all to play, including a Shogi board for the strategically inclined (and whoever knows how the heck to play it). Along the side wall are two pinball machines, and while they don't light up and make sounds, the mechanisms inside them still work, so they aren't completely out of the picture! Next to them, between the jukebox and the door is a dart board. Please do be mindful when throwing darts, as the light filtering into the bar through the front windows is very minimal. 🤔 INFORMATION EXCHANGE: The important part! When all are gathered inside the bar, Tifa and Ren will make a small announcement for everyone: "Now that we've all had the chance to take a look around and get our bearings, I wanna encourage everyone to exchange what you know, or what you've found. Even share it with the rest of us! Locations, ideas, theories - anything that could be useful in helping us all figure this out. We all come from different worlds, but we're stuck here, so we're in this together until we're not, yeah? Let's make friends and play nice, and most importantly, have fun today! Oh, and if you're coming and going, make sure to close the door nice and tight behind you." "It's nice to see everyone. [After Cloud's made his speech and the conversation around that has died down, Akechi speaks up. He's rather good at projecting his voice and speaking with authority from doing television programs, and this isn't all that different. He's not... going to stand on the counter or anything, though, he has manners. He just claps his hands twice, loudly, for attention.]

While we have everyone here, I'd also like to know who among us is capable of fighting, if need be. Just because this world has been peaceful thus far does not mean it will stay that way, and we must be prepared should combat become a necessity.

[Is a party really the best time to be talking about this...]

Furthermore, I suggest we keep an inventory of the weapons we have at our disposal.

[Akechi will be mingling freely during the party! He's going to want to challenge someone to play darts (with or without Ren as a partner), and just generally discuss theories, especially as they relate to the concept of cognition.]

(Maybe it's a stretch to ask for the full inventory of weapons they have in this world. There has to be someone as quiet as they are.

Baselard has already been seen with him, so he's not quite hiding that he can wield a knife. Akechi, on the other hand... He has a model too, doesn't he?)

What counts as a weapon to you?

[After just drawing as much attention to himself as possible, Ren's treated to one of his made-for-TV smiles. The kind he doesn't bother to give the other boy much these days.]

We'd be here all day if we decided to list things that are only potential weapons, after all.

[So, no, he's not expecting them to tell anyone about their model guns. What a good start to a trusting relationship with everyone else...]

(Ah, it just gives Ren the creeps at this point, so he barely reacts to it aside from keeping his expression neutral and serious, perhaps a gentle twitch of his eyebrow in response. Probably just looks like Ren was thinking about something to outsiders, but Akechi probably could tell he hates it very much.)

I wonder if anyone can make weapons, though.

[Well, it makes sense that Ren wouldn't like the fake smile. Akechi doesn't like it, either, but they're still in an unknown situation, grouped with people who could turn on them at any moment under the right (or wrong) circumstances. He needs these people to like him, and if he's learned anything from just existing his entire life, it's that most people simply don't like him. (Because he's an asshole.)]

It's... possible. Tell me, there must be knives and such meant for cooking here, no? If they could be sharpened, they could become quite formidable weapons indeed. And while it might be quite barbaric, in the right hands even a heavy rock can be rather effective.

[He's still smiling pleasantly as he's talking about these weapons. Maybe he should turn that off? The smile fades into something more pensive and apropos.]

[ takes a sip of water as he explains all this. it's very reasonable. she lowers the cup. ]

I can fight. [ she throws fists. ] No weapon though. Do you have a weapon?

Excellent. Hand-to-hand combat skills will be invaluable in this kind of situation.

[He inhales through his nose and sighs regretfully, shaking his head.]

But unfortunately, I don't have a weapon myself. [Technically not a lie, considering the toy raygun he has in his jacket doesn't work right now.] I'm rather good with a saber, but I don't make a habit of carrying it around in my day-to-day life. Thus, it wasn't on my person when I found myself here.

A saber? Huh.

[ her eyebrows raise up, a little surprised. it wasn't what first came to mind if she were to pair up a weapon to him. ]

You know, I have some saber training too. I own one too, but... I lost it. [ her lips thin, not the whole truth, not entirely a lie. ] Talk about timing. We kind of have to hope weapons materializes.

[ it isn't too out there a hope, if the world is still forming. ]

Really? That's wonderful news.

[Is it, though? There's a spark of nervous sweat in his palms, though he keeps it from his face. While it's true he'd taken some fencing lessons in the past, his own combat style is much more improvised and bloody. What, he wonders, would someone who's actually trained properly to fight with a saber think of his own fighting style?

Well. It's not a concern for now. Just something to keep in mind.]

Regarding your training, obviously, not the fact that you lost it. [He brings a hand to his chin.] Perhaps it may be worthwhile to try improvising something out of wood? For training purposes if nothing else.

[Perhaps some might consider it not an appropriate time, but this isn't entirely a party just for enjoyment's sake. They're trying to share information and work together here, right? So Izuku will answer once a couple others have.]

I'm a hero in training back home, so I can fight.

[He doesn't have his Quirk or access to the magic he learned in Fellden, but that doesn't seem important to mention now. He's just as capable at hand-to-hand without Quirks by now.

As for weapons...he has no reason to hide what he has, but he also doesn't really want to give it up for a weapon store, if that's what Akechi is suggesting.]

I have a sword that arrived with me. I was learning swordsmanship before I showed up here.

A... hero, you say? Training for what, exactly?

[Okay, this guy looks young, but not like, young enough to still believe in such a childish concept. Then again, not everyone had been forced to grow up as quickly as Akechi had.

He's trying to put his best face forward now though, so he just smiles instead of voicing just how stupid of a concept that sounds to him.]

Now, as for swordsmanship, I do know a thing or two about that. May I ask what style you were learning?

[Izuku responds easily, as if it's something he's told people time and again. It's just...natural, where he's from.]

Training to become a professionally licensed hero. In my world, that's what a lot of people choose to do as their careers. Especially if you have a Quirk that's well suited for it.

[It's said very seriously too, like Izuku believes it to be a legit thing and not just something he's making up on the fly.]

I use a longsword, but as for style...I'm not really sure if it had a specific style? I mean, I guess it did but I never really asked...I'm more used to fighting with my Quirk or Magic than I am with a weapon, so I'm still pretty new at it.

[Is "fantasy world sword fighting" a style]

[You know what? Sure, okay. Akechi decides for the sake of convenience to just take it at face value, because it's not the weirdest thing he's heard since arriving here. Or even the weirdest thing in his life in general, considering everything he's already been through. As much as he'd like to start an argument, he doesn't gain anything from it.]

Ah, that's too bad about the sword. I'm much more familiar with the saber myself, but perhaps there are some similarities? I'd be happy to try to give you some pointers, if you'd like. But, forgive me, I'm afraid I don't know what you mean when you say "Quirk"...

I'm pretty handy with a gun, if that counts as fighting. [he has his FEEI certification, as part of his day job, and -- well, Aiden thought it'd be a good idea for him to know how to actually use a gun, back when they were working together, just in case. like he said, he's not a bad shot. the problem, however, is:] Unfortunately, I haven't seen any guns just laying around.

[Now at that, Akechi does sound surprised, but not displeased. He hadn't thought those in forensics would need to learn how to use a gun. Then again, that just seems to be a universal American skill, if TV is to be believed, anyway.

But for now, he just nods, a small smile gracing his lips.]

I absolutely consider that a fighting skill. Just because we don't currently have access to guns at the moment doesn't mean we can't potentially find them later.

[Damien shrugs. everyone in America owns a gun, right? he really doesn't feel like he's tipping his hand in admitting he knows how to shoot a gun, that in mind. there are a lot of reasons he might]

There you go, then. [he pauses, shifting a little to lean in towards Akechi, attentive] Though ... how does that work, where your from? Do the police in Japan carry guns? [and if so, how does that work for Akechi, since he's still what would be considered underage for having a carry permit in the States]

I can fight.

In fact, Bowser has been fighting during his time in the new world. Mostly Piranha Plant/Stubby hybrids and death fish, but also Hornet at one point. And in this fighting, he's recieved several injuries, probably including a few stab wounds.

And I've been using this as a weapon.

He holds a thick, L-shaped pipe he acquired in the attic of the Heavenly Blanc.

[Ah. The turtle. Once Bowser had been ruled out as a Shadow, Akechi's next thought had been oh, Pokémon. Except he can say words other than variations of his own name, so that rules that out too.

But as much as he wants to ask, point-blank, what are you, he keeps it to himself.]

Thank you, I'm glad to hear it. There's nothing wrong with improvising a weapon when need be.

[And like, Akechi has literally fought beside someone who's used a pipe as his main weapon and he did just fine so, why not.]

[Bowser has gotten used to people not having any idea what he is. But if asked, he would not pass up a chance to talk about himself and boast about his greatness.]

I'd prefer something real, though. A big hammer or an axe.

But I guess if I get my powers back I won't really need a weapon.

[She didn't disagree. There was every reason to assume that the relatively innocuous creatures they'd seen would eventually become a problem. And if 'Air' had been brought into the picture, eventually this world was going to figure out the concept of Death.

It was inevitable.]

I'm not as good as most of you, but it's better not to assume I'm harmless just because I'm a small fry.

If anything, I'm only surprised that we've encountered nothing more hostile than general wildlife.

[They're of the same mind regarding that, at least, though Akechi quirks an eyebrow at her word choice.]

I wouldn't have accused you as such. Are you trained in weapons, or perhaps hand-to-hand? Or possessed of powers of your own?

[Considering she is a youkai, after all.]

Oh, you are definitely a little too aware for your own good. [She snorted and gave him a nasty grin.] I've been expecting worse than random tornados for a while yet. I don't know if a 'fight' is this place's goal, but a fight's going to happen.

One of these days, it's going to figure out that you mortals are supposed to be able to die, and then we're going to have real problems.

[Grumble grumble.]

Claws. I'm decent in a fight with a human, and I could handle myself. And... if my powers were working, most folks would destroy themselves. Envy's a bitch. Right now, I can fight well enough to get away from most anything I've seen.

I'm betting you're a little better than that though aren't you?

[While Hornet generally prefers her elaborate wallflower (ceiling-flower?) routine, she can't help but perk up at the mention of combat. She drops neatly from the ceiling pipes she'd previously hidden among, then starts talking like that's just a normal thing you do.]

"It appears I am in the minority of people who retained their weapon, and I can assure you I am highly skilled with it."

[Indeed, it's rather hard to miss the blade she's carrying that's about as tall as she is.]

"I would hesitate to promise my aid, however, when I have greater duties to attend than protecting some strangers."

[Akechi bites back a startled curse, an ugly expression of surprise contorting his face as the odd figure drops down from the ceiling. It's not that he hadn't noticed something lurking up there, but no one else seemed bothered by it, so he'd let it be. He certainly wasn't expecting it to drop down in front of him like this, and it takes him a moment to reform his pleasant mask.]

Do you always make such an entrance? [he demands more than asks, even as he straightens up from the combat crouch he'd reflexively dropped into and spreads his hands as if to prove to the stranger (and to any others who may have taken note) that he isn't a threat.]

"How else do you expect me to enter? I have to drop down somewhere."

[A very straightforward reason... though the reasons for having been on the ceiling in the first place are rather more complicated to explain. So she doesn't, instead taking a seat and folding her hands neatly in her lap. She doesn't regard Akechi as a threat in the slightest.]

"Regardless, I would like to discuss what I might stand to gain if I were to lend my aid. Seeing as most present seem to be quite unarmed."
