Who: Kimihiro&You What: Getting to know the Void, just generally being confused. Catch-all post! Where: Around the Void! When: November OOC Content Warnings: Nothing!! Perhaps spoilers?
(earlier today, kimihiro had a dream. a dream the man couldn't understand, a mind-boggling exception among many others he has interpreted over the years, his own or otherwise. it wasn't anything too telling, merely an empty, black void with only a butterfly in view.
it seems to be bearing a message, a mission, but it won't share it. the last thing kimihiro remembers was having a meal, attempting to decipher what it could mean, with the certainty that he would see it again if he was supposed to understand it. after all, everything is inevitable.
perhaps it could be the universe mocking him when he finds himself in yet another void, this time white in nature to his single working eye and rough, sandpaper-like texture to the touch of his bare feet. mugetsu pops out of the back of his black&white changshan, wrapping himself around kimihiro's neck and voicing his worries in concerned squeaks.)
Doesn't seem to be a dream, does it? (mugetsu shakes his tiny head, anxiously, and kimihiro taps below the golden-colored eye. he's blinded again, and the magic pulsating within his veins doesn't find its way into release. well, what can he do but walk towards civilization? the only thing that stops him from stepping over the edge is:)
"I Haven't Slept In Who Knows How Long And Now Our Benevolent Kidnapping God Made Me Hungry"? ... Kidnapping? (nevermind the rest, that part is... he'll learn about it eventually, he assumes.)
[Overhearing a little of that conversation, the brunette scoffed at the whole dream concept]
You're a few weeks too late for that- and if it was a dream, ideally you wouldn't be thinking of me.
[Then after a brief pause and canting his head to one side, a look of amusement on his features]
Though, I couldn't blame you if you did... but I'm not into that sort of thing.
[Look- he knows he's incredible, and modest. Giving the other male a once over with his eyes he noted the unusual garb, the creature wrapped around the neck, and most notably the heterochromatic eyes.]
You're also a little late for Halloween. [Presumably... since he honestly didn't know for certain if that month had passed]
(mugetsu turns first - it's easier for him, after all, and he doesn't have kimihiro's temper. it usually wouldn't show through in a first meeting, but when he hears the sheer arrogance that just oozes from the other male's mouth, he can't keep it in.)
And who exactly are you supposed to be? (it's with a subtle, but aggressive tone and a touch of a sneer in his voice when he turns around to face the other. kimihiro looks... well, traditionally asian, while this idiot looks... listen, he doesn't even know where to begin. has fashion taken a wrong turn and kimihiro didn't get the memo while he was tending the store?)
Is the attitude a part of your asshole costume or are you just like that?
[The snake-like creature seemed more alert than it's owner, animals generally were so it wasn't surprising. It didn't look threatening, and some might have even called it cute.]
Seto Kaiba, president of Kaiba corp. [-Of course, the stranger didn't recognize him. No one he met here ever did. Traditional though the garments were, they were still rarer to see in modern times. Someone needed to get with the program. Kaiba's jacket was meant to be every bit as eye-catching as it in fact was. He wanted to differentiate himself from the crowd and make a powerful statement.]
If that's the best you've got, you're coming into this conversation essentially unarmed. [Critiquing the attempt at a retort. Not that he was really looking for a fight, he was just getting tired of new arrivals immediately assuming this was a dream.]
[Catch Iwaizumi a few feet away, repeatedly setting a volleyball up in the air, then re-setting it over and over again. Just another day, really. He’s starting to get used to this place, which is a little disheartening in and of itself, but ya gotta cope somehow. When he hears someone - apparently new themselves - quietly lamenting their situation, he responds without glancing over.]
Nope. Not a dream.
[Set, set, set.]
The kidnapping part too. You got it, man - pretty much anyway.
It would be easy to get out of it if it were. (congratulations, iwa, you just met a dreamwalker.
but it doesn't feel like one, he doesn't feel his power intensify as it does in such realm and he doesn't remember entering one to begin with. all he remembers is having dinner, debating about yet another dream that has nothing similar to this blinding whiteness where he stands aside from the infinity of a void.)
Have you been here for long? (kimihiro holds his changsan, lifting it just a tad so that it doesn't drag on the soil when he moves over.)
(well, at least kimihiro found something to eat. not that he could actually taste anything, but with how his stomach growled and roared at the smell of food, that was the last thought in his mind. kimihiro is exceedingly attached to the concept of give-and-take, so he has left a few rolled cigarettes somewhere in the stall where he took the bottle of sake and sushi from, vowing to return when he had something of more value to make up for the deficit.
right now, he sits composedly in an open area near mt. silver, both him and mugetsu with their respective cups of alcohol. kimihiro taps the pipe to remove any burnt tobacco before he replaces it with the contents of his smoking tray. not much came with him, he can't help but notice. only the glass on his face and the clothes in his body, his familiar and his smoking paraphernalia. this can be a problem.
with a rather annoyed expression, he exhales the smoke he has dragged, letting it flow through his nose while mugetsu keeps on soaking his little face in the sake, resembling a bird drinking from a fountain.)
I wonder if the shop is here as well. (he mentions to mugetsu, only to watch the fox shake his head and continue drinking.)
[Ignis just so happens to be wandering by, and if he notices Kimihiro's familiar, he doesn't realize that the man is addressing it and not him. he also didn't quite catch what Kimihiro said, regardless, hence the need for clarification]
(ignis must have come around while kimihiro was adressing mugetsu, because the words were out of the blue to him for a while before he exclaimed.)
Ah! Sorry, I was talking to him. (and mugetsu, always so protective, wraps around kimihiro's wrist in attempts of protecting - even if the other seems to be peaceful. sorry, he can't sense anything right now.)
You gotta pick a lane. (he frowns at the fox. either mugetsu's super friendly or he's protective and jealous, but at least stick to one!!)
[ Yoshizawa is on her way to Wall Market to fetch some more of the barbecued meat. Without a source of raw meat to cook, she's been trying to experiment with making meals using the already-cooked barbecue meat from the stalls. At first, it was kind of troubling to her that the store stock seems to occasionally replenish itself, but now she finds it useful; it allows her to try different things with the dishes, and she's been able to come up with some interesting recipes as a result.
It's these thoughts that take up most of her brain's real estate as she moves through the cave, enough that she barely pays attention to the man she sees sitting nearby, despite having never seen him before. Rather, it's the small fox that draws her attention, her eyebrows lifting in shock when she sees him - and only then alighting on his companion and recognizing that he's someone unknown to her. ]
O-Oh! [ It's a soft exclamation of surprise, embarrassment written on her face as she quickly offers the man, almost certainly a few years older than her, a respectful bow. ] Please forgive me; I didn't see you there!
[ There's a pause as she considers his words, and her head tilts in thought. ]
I-Is there a place in particular that you're looking for?
(kimihiro barely takes notice of her himself, too busy sighing and downing more alcohol down his pipes. it's only when she's close enough that he realizes her staring at mugetsu that it hits him that there's someone who heard his conversation. she seems rather flustered for it, apologizing right away, and kimihiro just waves a hand as a response.)
Nothing to worry about, miss. (because her reaction is at least a thousand times better than when he first started being in contact with these beings. he remembers being terrified and throwing what he would easily describe as unnecessary, overly-dramatic annoying tantrums. so, of course, he just smiles politely.) He's friendly.
I was just wondering if my establishment came along.
(finally somewhere kimihiro perceives as familiar. it's not a temple, sure, but it is somewhere similar to one he has (reluctantly) made memories in. he doesn't enter, but he takes a look inside from afar. a bridge, scissors to symbolize relationship cuts and breaks, offerings... it doesn't take a wizard to realize.
... it does confuse him more, though. this is certainly not the yokai realm as he remembers. after all, they would be attracted to him if it were - his blood entices most non-human creatures. his presence would be known. he simply blinks at mugetsu, sighing quietly.)
We will know when it's time for us to know, right? Should we come in?
The sound of a water clock in the back of the shrine went off in a regular, rhythmic pace. Time had finally gotten to the point where it was flowing more or less normally, without issues. So, that thing only marked time and scared the nugs away at its own measured pace. It was ... a little triumph for the owner of the shrine he was staring at.
When he spoke up, there was a voice from the bridge, someone walking slowly over.]
I mean, you could... but the local spirit's not in the shrine just yet so... Cute friend you've got there. Haven't seen one of those in ages and a half.
[ Sat outside the café, the black and gold Melinoë is enjoying a second cup of espresso when she spots Kimihiro and his furry noodle companion. Whereas the creature may first draw the eye of others, it's the young man's scent that entices the Goddess. It's peculiar that the Void is drawing more non-mortals than mortals, and she wonders if someone like Professor Oak may be interested in the numbers, in the lack of balance. She's only interested in having more beings like herself present, especially if said beings are divine (because eventually someone from her own pantheon has to show...surely...).
In hopes it'll capture their attention, Mel breaks off a piece of maple scone and affectionately beckons to Mugetsu while holding the pastry out to him.]
(kimihiro is still navigating this. from the lack of magic and the lack of the shop that confines him to the unfamiliarity of the setting. mugetsu is the most anxious of the two - what could a semi-kami even do when he's stuck in such form, unable to protect the one he vowed to?
at least, so far, everyone seemed to mean no harm. the scent of his blood hasn't attracted any beings so far, as it usually does, but he keeps his guard up for that. he can't exactly fight in this shape, but neither could he a few decades ago and here he is.
kimihiro can't quite see her from where he stands, with only one eye being functional. judging from mugetsu's excited reaction, there's something ahead and he moves his head slightly and -- oh. an offering. the man approaches, bowing at the woman who performs it and mugetsu happily jumps on the table to accept it, squeaking the cutest sounds.)
You know, they prefer sake, but I suppose food is always welcome. Thank you.
[ The Goddess dissolves into tender murmurings of Italian, calling the darling kitsune beautiful and good and all things lovely.
Happy to keep Mugetsu around longer, and in turn the young man to learn from, she says - ]
Then let me order them sake. Would you like some as well?
[ Out of respect for the creature, Melinoë doesn't reach out to pet it. She looks up with a welcoming warmth in her aubergine eyes, meaning to introduce herself afterwards. ]
(there's no other option, is there? kimihiro sighs when he opens the door of apartment 107 to find absolute filth covering it. he looks at it in disbelief, disgusted by the foul smell and what on earth is sitting on that sink?
kimihiro is a simple man. he's lived alone for most of his teen years, having only himself to count on. his uniform was always clean and unwrinkled, his apartment was always tidy and with not a speck of dust to be found. it's fair to say he has developed a liking to cleaning and cooking, to the point he is extremely capable in matters of domestic affairs... what he doesn't like is feeling obligated to partake in them.
whoever peeks into the apartment gets to see a livid man, scrubbing that sink with a scowl.)
Seriously, who leaves a place like this? For the next person to clean, on top of that... ( he nags, and if you think mugetsu is listening, he stopped like, 3 hours ago. kimihiro didn't stop bitching for a single second, but at least it's half ready to live in.)
[Noct is on his way to see if Ignis is in his apartment when he notices 107's door is ajar and hears the muttering from inside. He stops short of actually barging in, though he does stop just outside the doorway.]
Yeah, they're all like that. Definitely the first time I've ever willingly cleaned a sink in my life.
Huh? What in the--... That's at least ten health code violations.
(good call. kimihiro already is Losing It at the sink, it would make it much easier for him to snap should the other not remove his shoes.)
Nothing good about a hotel with mold. (nagging, nagging, nagging. not that Noctis has anything to do with the hotel, but kimihiro is just so particular about cleaning and keeping things organized that he's having a hard time stomaching the situation. finally, he steps away from it to take a deep breath before he can address the other properly.)
My apologies. Come in if you'd like, just remove the shoes if you may.
(finally, kimihiro settles. he's not exactly happy, no, but at least he has a roof over his head. it's been a couple of days now, and kimihiro grows a little restless with just how long has it been since he stepped foot in the store.
he misses the children, even freaking mokona and all his yapping and demanding is currently something kimihiro wishes to hear. the only thing keeping him together is his conviction - he's here for a reason. so catch him outside, looking like he's about to snap a neck while he sucks in smoke, a cup of tea set next to the man on the grass where he sits.)
[at some point, Damien wanders out with a cup of coffee. he's found a microwave on the beach, at some point, and now that it's occasionally working? well, he's started bringing coffee home from Heavenly Blanc, so he has something to heat up and drink, first thing in the morning. it's probably sacrilege or something, given how much love and care Ren seems to put into crafting his coffee, but what he doesn't know won't hurt him, right? and he'll absolutely be around for a fresh cup, at some point during the day. despite having more mobility, now, between Kaiba's walkways and the L, now, he still spends a lot of time at Heavenly Blanc]
[but anyway]
[heading in Kimihiro's direction when he sees him, for lack of anything better to do, he nods as he approaches] Morning.
somewhere, somewhat, the barista had a cardiac failure thank you damien
(ah, it's the other smoker. the pipe is gently set on the tray he carries, letting the smoke leave through his nose and dissipate in the air, some escaping through his mouth as he speaks.)
Good morning, Brenks-san.
(with both hands and weirdly gracefully, kimihiro takes the cup into his hands for a sip.)
