What: Heavenly Blanc mingle and info exchange Where: The Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café When: "August 1"; but really, what is time Content Warnings: N/A Maybe you heard through word of mouth, or got an invite from the barista and barkeep directly, or spotted the handwritten paper invites hung up around the area, but there is a gathering happening at the Heavenly Blanc Bar and Café TODAY! So feel free to stop by, hang out, have some drinks, and share some stories. 🍺 DRINKS: Coffee will be served by Ren, and Tifa will be handling the other drinks. There's a wide variety behind the bar, ranging from alcoholic to the non-alcoholic, with delicious cocktails (yes, including virgin ones for the minors) to pick from. And before you ask - no, if you are underage, you may not have alcohol. Tifa will be very strict about it, and anyone who tries to bypass her imposed law will be subject to room temperature tapwater for the rest of the party. 🎲 GAMES: Various boardgames that came along with Le Blanc will be made available for all to play, including a Shogi board for the strategically inclined (and whoever knows how the heck to play it). Along the side wall are two pinball machines, and while they don't light up and make sounds, the mechanisms inside them still work, so they aren't completely out of the picture! Next to them, between the jukebox and the door is a dart board. Please do be mindful when throwing darts, as the light filtering into the bar through the front windows is very minimal. 🤔 INFORMATION EXCHANGE: The important part! When all are gathered inside the bar, Tifa and Ren will make a small announcement for everyone: "Now that we've all had the chance to take a look around and get our bearings, I wanna encourage everyone to exchange what you know, or what you've found. Even share it with the rest of us! Locations, ideas, theories - anything that could be useful in helping us all figure this out. We all come from different worlds, but we're stuck here, so we're in this together until we're not, yeah? Let's make friends and play nice, and most importantly, have fun today! Oh, and if you're coming and going, make sure to close the door nice and tight behind you." "It's nice to see everyone. (He has never seen Heavenly Blanc (or Leblanc for that matter) as busy as it is at the moment, but previous experience came in handy. Back at the beef bowl shop, Ren was the one to take orders, prepare them, serve them, ring them up and then clean the store.

It's showtime!

Please feel free to make conversation with the barista while he prepares your order.)

(Break time. Ren is now sitting outside for the sake of having light, putting the shogi board together. It doesn't look amazing, as it was handmade by yours truly, but it is functional.

(Ren is next in line for the darts!

He's a little annoyed his Third Eye is not activating - the skill surely would come in handy in a time like this, not only to steer him towards a win but also to actually help him see in the dark. He needs a duo, though.)

Please do. Throw him stuff to deal with. Ask him random things. Go behind the bar and drag him to play. Get placebo drunk and pet his hair.

[The Exarch, of course, has opted to have nothing alcoholic and is just as covered as usual even though the wind has already exposed his face before.

Having been inside a little too long, by his reckoning indoors for too long, he steps outside for a moment, and the boy catches his eye. Hm...]

An interesting project you're working on. Is this some manner of game?

(Ren holds out the pieces, allowing Exarch to pick one to see if he so wishes.

Hopefully the wind doesn't destroy the game...!)

It's called Shogi. Have you heard?

I’m not familiar, no. What manner of game is it? I might like to learn.

[He takes the piece to look at, turning it over briefly in his hand before handing it back.]

Strategy.

(For explaining purposes, Ren had already written the rules on a piece of paper so that whoever is learning can refer back to it. Handing the rules out, Ren smiles at the other. First time for everything, right?

[Oh, Ren can't use his special powers to cheat at darts? How sad for him. Too bad he isn't skilled like a pro and throws wherever he pleases.

Akechi comes up behind him, (virgin) cocktail in hand.]

Something bothering you?

[Now that they're inside, his hair is down like normal once again. Where it belongs. And Ren looks annoyed at the dart board.]

(He can still aim!! Any action in contradiction of this statement will be blamed in the lack of proper lighting.

Speaking of which...)

It will be challenging with the lack of light.

(He said when he turns to face Akechi, who now doesn't have The Freaking Ponytail, he can see by squinting and he is a little disappointed.)

The ponytail was nice.

"Challenging" is certainly one way to put it. I'll be genuinely surprised if no one's injured by the end of this affair.

[He crosses his arms, brings his hand to his lips again as he studies the dart board in the dim lighting. It'll be tricky, but he's certain he can still manage close to his usual level of skill. Maybe not all in the black, but certainly more bulls than not.

Then Ren decides to make that comment, and Akechi's gaze slides sideways. He just stares at him for a few seconds with a raised eyebrow, a wordless, disbelieving "really?" hanging in the air between them.]

It was a practical consideration. Until the wind sees fit to blow the doors down, I don't need it.

More importantly, how's your leg?

(Ren did not catch the bitch face, both because it was dark and because he was making his way to lean his back on the bar, shrugging and tapping his foot on the floor a few times.)

It's better. Not 100%, but better.

[She bowed to him and sat down, staring at the pieces with a squint in her eye as she stared at the board for a long moment, frowning. Something was wrong. They weren't like she remembered... but that wasn't really that much of a surprise. The kanji had changed a little since ...

I don't know what thug started that rule, but I don't like it.

[Yeah, that rule was almost four-hundred years old, Parsee. Seriously.]

(Ren bowed as well, fixing his glasses on his face before he could catch her displeased expression. Did he do it wrong? No, definitely not.

[She settled in and watched the board. It was easier to watch the board. It didn't involve looking at people. Just pieces on the board. She took a sip from her drink. If her mood was any indication, she'd gotten into the third by now. Not exactly tipsy, but warm enough that she was feeling a little conversational.

Marisa'd always said alcohol helped with jealousy. She didn't agree, but it did make it ... easier to stomach.]

So how's the effort to make friends and get everyone on the same page going in there? Besides me.

(Sure thing.

It's nice to play, with good memories he has made through Shogi. He's taken back for a second to a dark church, a memory playing in his head of sitting next to a girl and learning from the best. Hifumi, quite the shogi prodigy and celebrity used it as a safe space and he spent quite some time playing with her in his free time.

Ren begins the game, nothing too special for a first move.)

[It is some time through the party when Blue has gotten overexcited enough with all the chatter and activity and drink in him that he spots Ren.]

[Poor, poor Ren, who is now the person he's fixating on a good 5 drinks late.]

Heeey, Ren-chan~ I've been looking for you this whole time! [Blue slings his arm around the other boy, offering out the glass in his hand. It might look like some kind of juice, but it is most definitely alcoholic from the strong scent; although the alcohol may not be affecting everyone at the party equally, with how irregular just about everything in this world is, it seems that those who believe they'll be affected enough seem to be convincing the world well enough.]

[That, or Blue is just a hyperactive idiot. Anything is possible.]

This party's going pretty well so far, huh? Come on, try this cocktail, I asked Tifa-chan to make it for me custom!! It's a special recipe from home!

(Ren had just decided to go back to the bar when there's an arm, and "Ren-chan"? Nobody here has ever called him "-chan"! He's still processing when he realizes it's the voice of a Very Drunk Blue...!)

(Has he really... Ren has been in plain sight...

Regardless, now he is being offered the cocktail and he has lost the count of how many times he has had to explain that he cannot serve or be near the alcohol, specially when Tifa is right there.)

[Oh no, he's steering Ren over towards the tray of drinks he had now with the arm over his shoulder, and hovers a hand over the other selections.] Uhhhh, um.... Beer is weak as Shuppet, you wan'a beer? Have a beer!!

[And now he's trying to foist a beer into Ren's hands.]

[ lance filters in and out of the bar, not really much of a party person. and so when he (and dragonite) step outside for some air, he notices ren setting up what looks like a shogi board. ]

Do you need a play partner?

[ warmly, as he approaches. ]

(Had Ren not been in contact with the other Pokemen, he'd certainly be concerned about what sort of creature Dragonite is. As it seems to follow Lance and he doesn't bat an eye at it though, Ren just assumes he's also part of that group.)

I'd love to.

(He gestures so that Lance can sit in front of him.)

[ they seem to be quickly making an impact in this world . . . but lance is glad to not have to explain (again) what pokemon are. instead, he takes a seat, tone warm as he speaks: ]

[Damien, at some point, needs to excuse himself from the festivities to get some air, and it -- just so happens that he's not alone. he might be more annoyed if it wasn't anyone else, save maybe Akechi, for as quiet as Ren is. the board in front of him definitely doesn't hurt, either, however, and after a moment, Damien asks:] What is that?

He does hand Damien a piece or two for his inspection, they are clearly handmade in nature and not at all smooth, but good enough to use.)

I'm not familiar. [he passes the piece back] I assume, though, that it's a cousin to chess? [based on how the board looks and the fact that he gave Ren the idea]

[ While Turing couldn't eat or drink, they did have simulated senses of smell and taste, and the smell of coffee was a reminder of something familiar. However, when they actually ventured inside to get closer to that familiarity, the lack of light made them pretty easy to spot, what with the electronic glow coming from their head and all. Awkward.

The didn't line up for coffee, but they did look over the counter at what Ren was doing. Or rather, they tried to look, but thanks to the height of the counter, they were only just barely peeking over. Yet again their height was not working in their favour! ]

[forethinking]

(Turing is very hard not to notice, with the little lights. Ren has struggled, but he finally came to the conclusion nobody in this place was a Shadow, not even those who clearly could be one. Turing makes the list... Being... Fairly similar to a few he has fought in the past.

He can see them trying to check things out, again, difficult not to, and smiles a little endeared.)

Do you want help to go up the stool?

[ Turing jumped. It was a little embarrassing to have been caught staring! ]

I wouldn't want to impose... You seem very busy.

[ Still, getting up on the stool properly was probably a better idea. The only problem was getting up without the stool toppling over, and it was already threatening to wobble about with Turing's weight on the lower bars. This would not at all end in disaster! ]
